We spent a weekend in Oaxaca and this hotel is a good option. Fares are good, rooms are clean and large. No restaurant service, but not needed since its location is perfect to enjoy the center (Zocalo) and the local market.

Stayed one night at Casa Cue and found it to be just fine. It's a few blocks off the zocalo, but does the trick.
Good sized rooms, TV. Clean. A bit worn around the edges, but just fine.
Rates are good, as is the location.
Would give Hotel Gala an edge for location, but Casa Cue is a solid choice.

We stayed at the Hotel Casa Cue in Oaxaca in March 2004 and in Oct. 2004. We are planning another trip for the winter of 2005/2006, and would not stay anywhere else in Oaxaca. We stayed in the roomy Jr. Suite, and appreciated the great showers, jacuzzi tub and the air conditioning. The staff is friendly and helpful. Jose speaks English and is very helpful with arrangements and advice. One must stay near the Zocolo to fully appreciate the beauty of Oaxaca.

The A/C and big room and bathroom were great. The hotel is very convenient to the zocalo and is across the street from the mercado, which has to be seen to be believed so that was fun. However, there is none of the colonial charm you can find in other hotels. We were on an extended trip so for a few nights it was fine, and the A/C was badly needed. On the other side of the zocalo up by Santa Domingo, the town is more charming and we would probably stay there next time. However, the Casa Cue was spotless and very functional and you definitely get a slice of everyday Mexican life being so close to the Mercado.

We spent four days in Oaxaca, but could have used some more time. The Casa Cue certainly was fine. The longer we stayed, the more we realized that it was just perfect for our needs. The location was just two blocks from the Zocalo. The hotel room was clean and more than adequate with two beds, one being a king. The shower was absolutely superb with both hi pressure and hot as we needed. Jose was there to give us information in the morning. The bottom line is that we would stay there again when we go back to Oaxaca.

Check to be sure but we were offered three types of rooms. The double room was not very good. The window faced the open courtyard and when there were people there visiting (not loud, very normal speaking) the sound carried even with the window closed. One room smelled bad but the one next door was fine. A Jr. suite is a larger room. There are two double beds and more space. None of the double rooms or Jr. suites have queen size beds. The rollaways are uncomfortable. Two rooms (regular suites??) have a King bed in the main area and two singles in a separate room. I liked the Jr. suite better for size but the bedding in the regular suite is best for 4 people.
No breakfast or restaurant. The room phones did not work. Nice courtyards on second & third floors. Front desk people were nice but did not speak much English. The manager did but was not always there.
The location was just OK. Most of the other hotels and tourist sites were on the other side of the Zocolo. This hotel was near the market.

I was in Oaxaca for the "Dia de Muertos" (day of the dead) and stayed at Casa Cue. This hotel is a small, comfortable family oriented hotel. The staff is the best, very friendly and helpful. The rooms very clean, showers with hot running water and the air conditioning works.
The restaurant was being remodeled, but with the market across the street and the main square just a couple blocks away, finding a good place to eat was no trouble at all. The next time I travel to Oaxaca I plan to stay here again.

I enjoyed having all the delicacies, arts & crafts of Oaxaca close by.
