We stayed one night this past weekend and we had high hopes for this hotel. The location is excellent with a beautiful view of the city, interesting hotel lobby/courtyard with many antiques and lots of charm. Our quick glimpse into a room that was being cleaned was what we had and I was sold with the fireplace in each cabana. However, the actual stay was very dissappointing. To begin with, we asked about firewood at the reception desk and the attendant was apologetic about the wood being wet from a recent rain but quickly offered to buy some for us at $50 pesos a bundle. We thought this was very nice of him and agreed to it. However, we tried again to coordinate this wood purchase with the luggage person. He too seemed like he was on board to make it happen. We agreed that we needed it by 9pm because we would leave our room for dinner then. 10pm rolled around and with no phone in the room we trecked down the side of the mountain to reach the reception desk. I also needed to figure out why I couldnt access their free wi fi that was supposedly available in each room.
During this second encounter, a new attendant was at the desk and he knew nothing about the wood. To make a long story short, they brought in some broken pieces of furniture to burn in the room, I never had wi fi in the room either. I had to use it from the lobby.
Wi fi and wood aside...we did not sleep a wink. A bunch of college students decided to celebrate the Sept. festivities in the patio right next to our room. Well into 4am, as loud as can be and no hotel manager came to the rescue. With no phone available and a good treck down to the lobby, I opted to stay in bed and bare it.
The rooms are extremely dirty and neglected with torn bed covers and sheets, filthy bathroom floors and mirrors and patched up walls. No lamp or phone in the room. Dust all over the tv. See the pictures. I cant even make this up.
The next morning the breakfast was delicious and the ambiance lively with marimba muscicians playing however, the service was extremely slow to say the least. It took about an hour longer to have our breakfast than I would have liked.
I wish I would have had the opportunity to point out all these issues to management in hopes that they would take this as constructive criticism but I was so tired from the lack of sleep and just wanted to leave the hotel finally, to enjoy the city.
The hotel has lots of potential but it fails miserably.
