“great time”
Reviewed 8 December 2013

I stayed at Iguana for nearly one week and I had a great time there. The stuff and the other people were amazing. It was the best and filling breakfast I´ve ever had on my journey. I enjoyed the relaxing common area and the stuff helped me whenever I needed them. They were so friendly. It felt like a second family. I would definately recommend that place.

The best hostel I have ever stay (so far). I came just for few days to Iguana hostel as a backpaper and finally ended up almost for week as a "family" member. The staff is really friendly and helpful and it is great place to relax as well as hanging out with another interesting travellers. Hostel is in a quiet neighborhood but very close to zocalo and also to big market. They offer lot of stuff-tours, shuttles to Guatemala, delicious free breakfast, fully equiped kitchen, comfortable beds, hot showers all day, wi-fi, lockers, ... I really enjoyed my stay there! Highly recommend!!

Iguana Hostel definitely has a familial, relaxed atmosphere. Travelers and staff are often hanging out on the rooftop terrace or on the hammocks. Rudy, the owner, hung out with us a couple of nights and is awesome. My debit card was stolen (not in the hostel), so I ended up staying a little longer than expected while I figured out a new plan. Rudy calmed me down/cheered me up, called a friend at the airport to try to change my flight, and let me stay on credit until I got more money. I had an awesome experience here and am coming back to go to a festival with a group that Rudy's going to put together!

It's a really nice and beautiful place. Rooms are good. Bathrooms clean. Breakfast is excellent. Prices are cheap. Stuff is friendly and feels like family. A good home, away from home. So far the basics.

In addition they have a nice rooftop terrace where people meet in the evening and share beers and stories, before they go for the night. That's the kind of experience which makes a hostel special and gives u good memories! The only risk is that u might stay longer than u planed ;-)

Iguana Hostel is a pretty, welcoming, colourful place with hammocks in the little garden and a great view from the terrace. A really good breakfast is included which makes it worth the price even when travelling on a budget. Beds are good quality, everywhere it is clean, easy walkable from the city center, located at a beautiful plaza surrounded by impressive churches. The owner and staff always have an ear if you need advice or want to book something, very friendy atmosphere, totally recommendable!

Awesome hostel that feels more like a family than a hostel.
Rudy the owner is very friendly and approachable.
He took us out on a day trip to witness an authentic celebration of day of the dead and then try some Mayan made local alcohol called "pox". Was a great experience.
Very relaxed environment at the hostel. Definitely recommend!

As only you enter you feel at home. Colourful house and garden. The staff is multilingual and multinational. They prepare varied breakfast in a form of buffet and this breakfast to a great opportunity to share, meet other travellers from the hostel and make friends. Shared cooking and beers in the evening followed by a visti to a mezcaleria!
And the owner helped to get to a local temazcal with other guests - unforgeteable experience!
The rooms are basic with shared bathrooms but comfy. Just need to be aware that this is a HOSTEL so even travelling as a couple we were comfortable, and the whole atmosphere created by the staff and travellers make it a great stay so you just dont wanna leave.
