If you visit San Cristobal de las Casas, you can't miss this lovely charme and design hotel. Everything is perfect here, from the staff with people like Ruben whose smiling approach and availability represent a great value, to the location, to all other details. We really enjoyed their deluxe hospitality and highly recommend Hotel Bo for a relaxing, surprising 5 stars holiday vacation!

My partner and I in fact did not get to stay here. Despite booking a room 8 months in advance using 'Booking.com', when we arrived after a long journey they told us that there was a mix up and they in fact did not have a room for us at all for any of the 3 nights that I had booked for. Whilst the Manager was apologetic, it is difficult to understand why I was not contacted in advance of my arrival to let me know that there would be no room available, when they had been aware of the problem. There was no explanattion provided as to why the room was not available. They did book us in to another hotel which was kind, but it was very expensive and not great value. It looked like a lovely hotel.

We spent a wonderful long weekend at Hotel Bo. I was very impressed with the amount of details that went into the design of this hotel and the excellent services the staff provided during our stay.

Rooms are clean, spacious, and modern yet with a touch of local traditions. Friendly staff throughout the place and they work very hard to keep every corner of the hotel spotless. The restaurant is very good too although we only tried breakfast there (go for the local options ... We tried both local and western dishes and the local ones were just miles better).

The hotel exceeded our expectation in many ways. Don't come to San Cristobal and expect to find Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental type of luxury here (they don't charge you that kind of price here either). But if you look for a well designed and well managed boutique hotel, Hotel Bo won't disappoint you.

I only have two minor complaints about the hotel (not really complaints but more like things you need to be mindful about)
1. There is no central heating system in he hotel but they do provider a space heater to each room. If you come during the winter season, have enough warm clothes as the space heater is quite weak
2. Only a couple of the staff speak English and restaurant menu is all in Spanish

Only if San Cristobal were not so hard to get to from New York, we would for sure return to Hotel Bo more often.

If you decide to visit San Cristobal, stay here! It is one of the most beautiful hotels, and you will receive a very warm welcome here. I would love the designer to help design my own house, what a great atmosphere.

Beautiful styled hotel but with a a number of negatives that could see for the hotel's speedy demise if not acted on. 1) front door to hotel is always open providing an awful draft to guests sitting in the bar, lobby and restaurant areas. On the one cold day we had all guests were wearing coats to keep warm. Staff too! Sweaters were not enough. 2) Restaurant - No English menu! No staff able to translate - absolute minimum. Dinner food ok but even when specifically having asked for a non spicy dish, the recommended dish that was served was so spicy that it burnt the tonugue buds. Breakfast awful. Food tasted and smelt bad. Numerous of items on the menu were not available even the cereal. Order one available cereal and got the crushed endings of the packet so sent it back. Delivery of food can take awhile. 3) Rooms - clean and spacious but can be very cold. Windows very thin and let a lot of draft in. Rain shower fabulous. Lots of clothes space. Big TV. Free Wifi.

When we mentioned the above problems to the reception staff, they responded that they had heard them all numerous times before from other guests and that managment (supposedly government run) has been told about them but are not interested in doing anything. A shame as if they did they have a longterm winner, if not believe despite its lovely decor peole will seek more accommodating accommodation.

I recently stayed at Hotel Bo, it was refreshingly modern with good interior design. The rooms are luxuriously large and beds are devine. The location is great in a city that is perfect to explore on foot. I highly recommend a visit to this hotel to experience modern Mexican hospitality.

We just spent three pleasant days in San Cristobal and the Bo, and could certainly recommend it. the property is a complete remodel of a former colonial style hotel, and it's now an eclectic mix of heavy wood beams, modern furnishings and colonial and regional touches. Probably more expensive than any other hotel in town, but you receive fair value for the money. The rooms are not huge, but at least the "luxury" rooms are ample enough, with a large modern bathroom. bedding, towels etc. are certainly top quality. Breakfast was good, we didn't have time to eat later in the day although the menu looked creative and interesting enough. We found the staff to be super attentive at all times, very eager to please. the beautiful garden area inside the hotel would be delightful for spending some leisure time, except right now the weather was rather cool.

San Cristobal is a great place to visit, very clean, safe, with a main pedestrian street filled with Cafes, restaurants and shops. There are huge numbers of people selling stuff on the street, but they are not aggressive. Having seen all the shops, and having visited several villages where local handicrafts are made, we can highly recommend the Casa de la Artesania (also called Casa Chiapas), along the pedestrian street, which is apparently funded by a government agency. Their prices are very fair, and you can be sure you are buying authentic local goods, not always the case with street vendors. they have an especially good selection of textiles, ceramics, and of course, coffee and chocolate from Chiapas.

We tried several local restaurants, but can't say that any of them inspired us. The food wasn't bad, and service was generally good, but nothing special. Perhaps we just missed the good ones. In terms of local sightseeing, a boat trip from the Cahuare pier along the Canon del Sumidero is spectacular, beneath the Grand Canyon of Chiapas, with lots of wildlife all around you. A taxi driver can take you to the pier, hang around for a couple of hours while you take the boat ride, and then take you over to the town square at Chiapa Corzo, just a few minutes away, where you can see a very interesting and huge fountain and church dating from around 1520. The taxi service shouldn't be more than $50-- for the half day, and the boat trip is less than $20 per person. The other unique place to visit nearby is the church at San Pedro Chamula, filled with thousands of candles, no pews, and hundreds of local people seated on pine boughs praying. Don't even think of taking photos, it's not allowed!

The mountain scenery around San Cristobal and the unspoiled colonial look make this a great destination and well worth the drive or flight down!

Dear Guest, just loved your review anf thank you for the time on writing about us and about the destination. San Cristobal de Las Casas is a Unique place that everyone should know! Our design was inspired on the componets of the history of San Cristobal with a total modern flare but respecting the roots, one of the elements we love the most about our property is our distinctive look & feel along with our service and passion about the hospitality industry.

Welcome back!
