“Great people, great food, great vibe.”
Reviewed 1 March 2013

One of the nicests places i've been to so far in mexico, a nice planetary vibe going on with influences from all different parts of the world, so especially globetrotters will find a nice place to rest their feet, have some good food and relaxation.

The kitchen offers an interesting selection of dishes using traditional flavors but done in an original way, tasting great and more importantly here in mexico, leaves you feeling good afterwards.

Don't go there with expectations that for example the tom yan soup will taste exactly like it does in Thailand, for authentic kitchen i would suggest you travel to their subsequent places in the world. If however you would like to enjoy a very nice oriental kitchen done in a way that somehow fits perfectly with your mexican experience, then be sure to make a visit here.

The owners and staff are wonderful as well, and there's always good tunes or some live musicians playing.

“Great Place, Great Owner”
Reviewed 25 February 2013

Had two evening meals at Mayambe in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. Not your typical Mexican fare. India, Morocco, and other countries' palates are represented here, too Each meal was memorable (meatballs/lamb and steak w/mushrooms) and enjoyable. Our friends had curries, another had Pad Thai. All were excellent. The owner, Liz, made us all very welcome and added her special touches and charm, as did her husband. There was good music on both nights, and just an all around fun atmosphere. A great place to go and relax. I highly recommend it for a nice evening out.

“When in the mood for something super yummy :>”
Reviewed 20 February 2013

OMG we were so happy to find Mayambe - a restaurant with a very unique menu here in the middle of San Cristobal Las Casas...a yummy mix of Indian, Asian & Middle Eastern food made with super fresh local ingredients. Having lived in the Bay Area for many years...i was really surprised to find this paradise of spices. I've returned several times -- Pad Thai, Green Curry...omg the hummus, Greek Salad...Chiapas coffee, Thai tea mmmmhhh

The restaurant itself is a Spanish Colonial home way back when...where now the central court is layed out with tables, bar...there is a stone fountain, a super cozy fire place, and one of the nights a piano player from New York was jammin !!! Love love the owners Liz and Jim - super great service.

Just down the street from the post office. We'll be backkk!!!

“Beautiful food and atmosphere”
Reviewed 9 February 2013

Had an amazing night out at Mayambe. Food was exceptional, and had heaps of vegetarian options. Jim and Liz the owners were charming and very welcoming. The locally distilled mescals were amazing, particularly try the mocha.

Great place to go for vegetarians or just a change from tacos!
