“Wish every hostel was like this”
Reviewed 6 August 2013 via mobile

Loved my time in San Cristobal, and I know that it was hugely thanks to this hostel.

The most comfortable beds, powerful showers and best breakfast I have ever experienced for a hostel.

I particularly loved the garden area. Hammocks in the day and bonfires at night. They just had a new outdoors bar fitted too- and the drinks were so cheap!

I will be back again- a huge thanks to the wonderful owners for making my time there so special

Rooms clean, beds comfortable. Bathrooms and public areas are cleaned daily and kept in great shape. Showers are consistently hot! There was some confusion/room shuffling done with us when we checked in; I think it is a relatively new operation and/or they are still ironing out some quirks. That said, it took no time to get sorted and we were very pleased with our private room.

Free brekky every morning is great and we even had a band/bonfire night one weekend night - awesome little party but they keep it out back where the noise won't affect anyone who choses to have a quiet night in their room. When we stayed there was a lot of street noise (some sort of festival?) but not much to be done about that. And it's a couple blocks from the main square; close to supermarkets, markets, shops, bars, restaurants, museums, tour companies, etc..

Hosts helped us book tours, gave directions, stored our bags when needed etc. Everything was helpful and they remembered my name the whole stay. GOOD SPOT!

fantastic hostel, very friendly staff always happy to talk (or eat/drink) with guests...we stayed in two different private rooms for over a week, extremely comfortable mattresses and great furnishings...the hostel is in a beautifully modernised old hacienda with a beautiful back yard (hammocks/deck/plants) and twice we ended the evening around a massive outdoor fire pit...location is excellent (2 minute walk to main square)
great place, we will stay again

Spent 6 nights here in July 2013.such a great hostel! after travelling for 2 months this felt like a luxury hostel! Beds are super comfy! Rooms were exceptionally clean! As we're the bathrooms. Great kitchen facilities. Free Breakfast was amazing... Pancakes with fresh fruit! Staff were all really lovely and helpful. New garden bar opened while I was there giving good Party atmosphere. All around best hostel I've stayed in so far. Highly recommended.

Our family of 2 adults and 2 kids (10+13) just had a 3 night magical stay at PUERTA VIEJA. We stayed in the dorms for 1 night and had a private room for 2 nights. BOTH were unreal!! The beds/blankets are soooo comfy. The rooms are incredibly spacious and clean. Different yummy breakfast each morning. Staff are super friendly and sweet, making us feel very much at home. LOCATION LOCATION!!! We could have stayed forever!! Kids LOVED it! PUERTA VIEJA is a beautiful building, the wooden doors to every room are gorgeous and the whole vibe is so cool. Danny plays awesome music throughout the day. The bonfire at night was a highlight. Thanks for the present (bow + arrows) for Zepp, he's been spearing EVERYTHING!!!!! I just loved the place. The hostel is very clean, the staff is amazing, very helpful and friendly. They have a good breakfast and very good bedroms (still miss the warm blankets). The common areas are very good to, the staff light the fire whenever you want to, I did a lot of friends there. And it's about 5 minutes away from the Zocalo. The perfect place for spending a time in San Cristobal!
