Great place! The owners and the workers are nice, happy and helpful. When I asked for things I always got a smile and a yes. There is a great chef that makes delicious and creative breakfast every day you get something else. There is a beautiful garden and bar where you can meet people and if it's a free cocktails night it's even better. There are separate bathrooms for men and women and they are always clean. Good showers with hot water. Good kitchen where you can cook. Good location! Just go there...

This hostel has a friendly/social vibe, clean, spacious rooms and cute chill out common areas (indoor and outdoor), phenomenal and professional staff!

The delicious breakfast is freshly made for you, lots of different social activities (excursions to nature reserves, nights out, bonfires in the back courtyard, bday parties...) are organised by the young English speaking staff. Hostel is perfectly located in the centre of town, but quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. Hostel definitely deserves the No. 1 spot!

Just perfect. :) 100% recommended.

This is truly THE BEST hostal I have ever been to; PERFECT LOCATION in San Cristobal on a safe and quiet street and just 2 min walk from the heart of this beautiful city and its nightlife. It is right next to the bus stop, banks, shops and restaurants.

The hostal has the most comfortable beds ever and huge individual lockers, very clean rooms, bathrooms and excellent hot showers (with spacious seperate spaces for female/male), and a really cosy, stylish, colourful, safe and relaxed atmosphere. This hostal has a lot of charm, every single detail is looked after carefully. The best deal quality/price wise!

BIG DELICIOUS BREAKFAST included, pancakes served with fruits, yogurt and delicious chocolate topping or exquisite mexican salty option available!!! You will wake up happy every day just thinking of this amazing breakfast, believe me!!!

Moreover, the young owners of the hostal are really super friendly and professional and do their best to make you feel at home. They organize free mojito parties in their beautiful garden (every Tuesday night), cultural movie nights with free pop-corn, fire in the evenings so you can enjoy watching the stars from the hammocks and meet great people or play babyfoot! Also, many tours available at the front desk to the main touristic sites.

Enjoy the magic of San Cristobal with Puerta Vieja Hostal...The only risk is wanting to stay longer in this stunning place ;).

Room Tip: mixed and female dorms available as well as private rooms!

It is hard to find any disadvantages. The hostel is clean, has great prices including perfect breakfast. I do not like those type of "backpackers hub" hostels, but this on has unique combination of privacy and good company of other travelers. Rooms are simple, but enough. There is a possibility to work in hostel for some time.

If you take a room with windows to street, there is a noise from a karaoke pub on Saturday night.

All was written, do not spend time with other options in Cristobal.

Location, facilities, atmosphere, and the staff... oh, the staff makes this place unique.

However long you're planning to stay, if your itinerary allows it, you will stay longer. Just give it a try. You'll fall in love with it.

The location is perfect. Everything is at a walking distance. Safe.
The facilities are great. Clean, cozy. The 300-year old house gives this hostel a unique, strong personality. The bar in the backyard where you can make a fire is just sweet.

And breakfast... out of this world.
Not your typical, ordinary hostel breakfast.

Room Tip: Go for dormitory 10!
