Showers were great - so hot and strong. Breakfast included which was excellent. Loved the rooms - we stayed in a dorm and the beds were very comfortable with clean bed linen and blankets. The hostel is in a good location not far from the main square.

We stayed 5 nights recently and enjoyed our stay. This is a relatively new hostel. SCLC has a lot of hostels and we walked around and had a look at a few, we thought this was a good price.
It is a small hostel with 3 private rooms and 2 dorms, a nice courtyard, shared kitchen.
Our room was a little on the small side and plainly decorated. The blanket on the bed was super warm so we had no issues with the chilly nights.
The shared showers are in the back courtyard, they are plain but pump out super hot water which was a nice luxury in this chilly climate. There are only a couple of toilets, it was quiet when we were there so no issue but I could imagine it might be a problem if the dorms were busy.
Breakfast of either toast or pancakces with a banana and coffee was included.
Location is fine, its about 3 blocks from one of the pedestrian streets, we liked it as it was quiet at night.
The kitchen was handy and well stocked. They provide free water.
Their tour prices are very good, I think getting good information about SCLC could be better.
The staff were friendly, Herve who works in the afternoons speaks English, Sandra the owner does not but my basic Spanish was enough. Anna the other owner who is often there on weekends was lovely and speaks perfect English. For those looking for a vibe this might not be the place (fine for us, we enjoyed the quietness) and I think it just lacks a little bit of atmosphere as the owners aren't always there and haven't yet stamped their personalities on the place.
All in all a solid choice, good value for money and I think it will keep improving.

My stay at Hostal Luna Nueva was exceptional. I've been traveling around for a couple of months now and this has been one of the best hostels I've come across. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They'll give you tons of recommendations for things to do in San Cristobal. It's really fairly priced, much cheaper than all places in San Cristobal. Breakfast is also good. My favorite thing about this hostel is that it's not filled with annoying, antisocial backpackers. Would definitely come here again and would without hesitation recommend it to anyone!

After getting off my first overnight bus ride, I stepped out of the station for a smoke, to collect my bearings, as I hadn't a clue where to go find a hostal next, and there's a woman, the daughter of the owner, with a map to the Hostal. A little far for me to walk, she pays my for my taxi. Great! Upon arriving, Anna the owner/operator shows me around. A small but cozy hostal, with a nice little courtyard, a dorm with sturdy bunks, thick blankets, and lockers for valuables(bring a lock!) Clean kitchen, with plenty of dishes, and great showers with HOT water. Great price at 100 pesos per night for a the dorm room. And Anna was really kind to help arrange the shuttle to take me south the Guatemala the next day! Close to the city center, which was great!

Room Tip: Look at the room before you commit to it.

I don't normally write reviews, but this place really was great! Close to the center and yet so quite. And the staff are just lovely. It's a really good, relaxed athmosphere. Kitchen is fully kitted out as well. Could maybe do with more toilets if it was fully booked. But was just fine when I was there with up to 8 others. Can't emphasize the good atmosphere enough - it really is a home from home. If I'm ever in the area again I'll definitly go back!

This little hostal is just outside the city center, convenient and easy to reach on foot. It has a half dozen room, some 3 bed dormitory some private. All the rooms surround a courtyard. The price is reasonable, the place is kept clean. The continental breakfast is included...simple, but helps get the morning going. The kitchen is available for your use, as is the good speed wifi, hot showers and very relaxed atmosphere. No one will try to sell you a tour! The owner lives on site and is friendly and helpful. Her English is very good.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the road are quieter, although the traffic calms down around 10 pm so it's no bi...
