We went there in early March 2014. Still closed and boarded up with no info. As observed by another reviewer, the photo on the Trip Advisor page is not of the museum.

“Good, photo not correct”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

The Museo Histórico Naval is good but not great. The colection is poor for a port with so much history and importance trough the centuries.
But it's worth for a 1 or 1 1/2 hour visit, specially if you go with kids.
Caution: the photograph doesn't belong to the museum (belongs to the Faro Venustiano Carranza).

“A little town with a big place in Mexico's history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2013

The museum only takes an hour to visit, at most, unless you read every word of every display. I really enjoyed it.

“A nice museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2013

This has more history and fewer ship models than most naval museums. The galleries are chronological and they tell the history of Veracruz, which has been so much a part of the overall history of Mexico. It's a beautiful building with interesting maps and historical relics.
