Owner description: It´s the firs Interactive Naval Museum en Latin American. You´re going to know about naval history and see all the ship, aroun 16 diferent areas. It´s great. And is in Veracruz, I mean, Boca del Río. Boca del Río it´s a beutiful place, has diferents shops, hotels, bar-restaurants (the sea food is excelent) and one war ship, Cañonero Guanajuato. You don´t forget it.

From a distance, the old ship looks great. But upon arrival and closer inspection, it is in a rather poor state of affairs. More restaurant than museum, there isn't much here to see. Better to spend your time in the cute town of Boca communicating with the locals. Or go to the main square to people watch. Definitely not worth the trip all the way here if you are in downtown Veracruz.

The local fishermen were displaced and this old, rusting gunboat built some 80 years ago in Spain, was towed in as a business enterprise. Without a corps of volunteers it's impossible to maintain a ship like this - many are scrapped for that very reason. It looks salvaged: rusted and modified with an odd superstructure that looks like a chicken coop but is actually a restaurant, it's nothing like the retired vessels on display in the U.S. which are maintained by devoted cadres of retired servicemen and volunteers. If you want to see military vessels head down to the Port and see the real thing - for free.
