The service, facilities and environment are amazing. our concierge, Luigi, was particularly helpful, friendly and welcoming, as were all the staff. We will definitely return and recommend it highly to our friends. Thankyou for a blissfull week.

We are owners at the Westin Lagunamar. This was our first trip to the resort. We came in at the start of the tropical storm. During the storm our bathroom window leaked and continued to leave a pool of water on the floor each time it rained. Something else must have been going on because the electric breakers would trip. We would reset them and then they would trip sometime later. After that we found the rooms were fine but a little smaller than we thought they would be. Beds were great and we always slept well.
The staff is friendly and helpful. When we went down to talk to the front desk, we always had to wait to talk to the staff. They need to have more people working the front desk during the busy coming and going times. There were more counters than people working them.
The pool is the best and biggest we saw in the area.
The restaurant at the resort was fantastic. Great food at reasonable prices. We found this out late in our stay. We were going across to the mall to eat and found some of those places very expensive for what we got. If we go back I would eat at the resort.
Overall a nice stay with a bad beginning.

Gorgeous hotel, great service, spectacular rooms. Simply put the best in Cancun. All rooms have ocean view, great kitchen for making own food, and a pool that can make you feel like a king or queen.

Our experience started one week before arrival. The concierge got in touch with us to give us some tips about our upcoming trip and took care of our transportation from the airport.

The Westin is an excellent hotel. We have a great room (with a separate bedroom). Well equiped. Full kitchen, spacious living room, private balcony overlooking the ocean, very comfortable beds and a large bathroom (whirlpool, shower...). Bring your computer, internet is free in the room.

The services of the hotel were perfect. There is many activities all day (from Spanish class, h2o aerobic, volleyball, bingo and prizes). The pool is amazing. Many chairs around the large pool. The beach is well taking care.

We had 3 dinners at the Oceano restaurant. Everytime, the service was perfect, the food was great. What about having lunch aroud the pool at the Viento restaurant / bar. Our waiter was very friendly and professional.

The area around the hotel is also very nice. We went to a Dolphins show, the kids loved it. The mall at the front of the hotel, good deals.

End of June - July, the weather was perfect, not too hot, just fine.

We visited the Westin Lagunamar for six nights following our week at the Royal Mayan. I have been watching the hotel being built and when Starwood called and invited us to stay - we excitedly agreed.

I am a Starwood owner in Scottsdale - so the owners price was $299 for four nights and 20k points for two additional nights. It did include a tour but i was interested in hearing the prices. I was "gifted" 7,500 points for the tour. The tour was absoutely no pressure.

I read the two previous posts, agreeing with them entirely . I'll try not to restate the oblivious.

Our party included myself, hubby , and two 16 year olds .

We had non-stop reservations via Alaska booked with miles and Starwood points. sadly Alaska dropped their Cancun route and re-booked us to Mexico City and then onto Cancun via Mexicanna.

No complaints about the service it is a fine airline - just gripes about spending two almost full days traveling.

Checkin in really did take hours. I was told to come back in three hours ...no worries - we went to the grocery store and came back at 5pm. Still no room was prepared for an hour .. ho hum kinda a drag with grocerys waiting .

A one bedroom ocean front building one or A ( can't remember ) LOVELY ! Modern ! WOO WOO !

The kids are "like where are the fold down beds."
(The Royals have these great Murphy beds in the living room. )

We bought a nice blow up bed for around 40 $ US and took it home with us. The roll - away was 30$ a night, would have been 180$ . There was plenty of room for one kid to sleep in the fold out and the other on the blow up.

Housekeeping service, there are not enough hands on desk housekeepers. When we checked in there were no towels, extra sheets/blankets and pillows for the fold out , no cutting knifes in the unit.

Not a huge deal but discovering each item at a time and having to call housekeeping .. waiting .. tipping x3 in the first 24 hours was kinda a pain. . At most resorts with villas they give you an inventory list upon checking. It would wise to implement an inventory check in list . I suppose someone walked off with the lovely wooden block of knifes that were missing and who knows what else ?

So there is not daily "pick up" housekeeping service here - The prices for it were high - so we got one visit for six days. My biggest beef was the trash liners were so thin that they broke before you could get the trash outa the door and there is no place designated to dump your trash . yeah i know boo hoo.

Tropical Depression Alex came over us and dropped huge sheets of rain . The bathroom window leaked - well poured rain onto the floor & used the towels to mop it up for 3 days.

The bathroom has a frosted glass wall - which the main bedroom is located on the other side.. Anytime some turns on the lights in the bathroom YOU know it in the bedroom.

I also wasn't crazy about the sliding particle wood door between the bedroom and living room - not much privacy .

Somebody already mentioned the ELEVATORS. Over rides , missed floors, broken buttons , maybe they are still working out the bugs. My husband is an elevator engineer and said they used very cheap products . humm ?

The store was poorly stocked and very expensive as well as the food. But I am a thrifty traveler. We usually eat out at least once in the hotel restaurants but just could not support the high costs at the Westin. Seems to me they would have more diners to reduce the tab- i even had a 20% off as an owner.

ok so what did i love ?? The pool was fab, the slide , activities , the wireless, the modern decor, the gym was free , the washer /dryer in each unit.

Being straight across the street from the mall was different , we went to the Cimamax movie theater for the late shows in english . Cost 3$ .

We did eat at the Rainforest (kid picked) and received a coupon for a free car rental at Avis after sending 60$. Avis has no deductible and is cheap at 40$ a day.

Also ate at Chocolate City ( another kid pick) and if you tell the waiter "WE LOVE CHOCOLATE " you get 10 dipped strawberry's free.

The lagoon restaurant Blue was nice at the edge of the lagoon.

One kids used all the activities , played soccer, learned salsa dancing, bingo etc .. the other didn't even get sunburned and used the wireless non-stop and window shopped the mall after the sun went down. :) redheaded go figure ...

Overall hubby and i would probably choice to stay somewhere else or at Royal Resorts for the second week of our annual family trips. I didnt care for the loud speaker @ the pool with music and announcements etc ..

The prices we were quoted was 9k for a every other week one bedroom with a 1200 AM fee.
I think i have been spoiled at the Royal Resorts. I like the people, the intimacy , the prices , the big spacious villa.
