Thought i would leave a detailed review of the Grand Oasis Cancun.

When arriving at the hotel it was very nice with bellboys taking your bags for you. Checking in was a breeze. They do hand you off to another employee. This gentleman did invite us to come and sign up for a free breakfast and 500 pesos for listening to the timeshare spiel. Just tell him you will let him know later....they never bothered us again. After that we went to our room. We did have another couple who joined us on the vacation so i will also explain their room which was slightly different.

The Room.
5328
AMAZING for the price. Beautiful tile floors. Large enough bathroom with a deep soaking tub (but who has time for that on vaca). The bed was comfortable enough. Extra pillows/blankets in the closet. Great AC. AMAZING view ! Balcony in each room throughout the grand oasis and it looked like actually all the structures throughout the huge property had them. The problem with the balcony is they have very pretty flowers growing on them so you can not sit out there and enjoy the view because of the crazy amount of dragonflies! Mini fridge stocked in room along with safe, alarm clock with ipod doc and flat screen tv. We didn't even turn the TV on until day 2 and we couldn't get any channels to work so just gave up.

Our friends room was more of the Mexico theme with bright colors and was not updated. had a small tube tv but otherwise the same thing. Also great view.

The hotel itself was very pretty. Very clean. Through the pictures i though the interior of the pyramid looked old and not very pretty but it was beautiful to see. Shows every night at around 1900. Gift shop on main floor is very limited with extra medical supplies if needed.

The grounds of the hotel were also beautiful and very quiet. That is until we ventured to the north side of the resort where it is definitely party central. We did visit that side a couple of times but in the end always came back to the nice quiet more sophisticated side. The pools were pretty clean with zero depth all over which i thought would have been great for my kids although I don't think i would bring my kids to this particular resort. Many bars throughout the resort. our favorite was the lobby bar and the vip lounge. While on the beach we most frequently used the hamacas snack bar. Which also does burgers and hotdogs.

Restaurants.
Market Place Buffet- best bet for breakfast. We did eat dinner there one night. Mediocre.
Tatish- never ate there but didn't hear good things about it. We did look there for ice cream once and it looked the same as the market place just on the other side of the resort.
Dos Lunas- Nice and quiet spot for breakfast. Pasta is pretty good. Pizza was ok.
ViP lounge- finger foods. Did eat lunch there the last day and the steak was delish!
Cocoa- never ate there. Very limited seafood menu.
Hacienda Sarpe- Mexican food. There are only 3 choices. We all got fajitas. They were pretty good but more like tacos than fajitas.
Deli SPorts Bar- STAY AWAY. Ordered late one night before they closed. They forgot our order for about an hour. ordered milk shakes, waiter asked if we liked milk. Thats because they were just milk. HORRIBLE FOOD. Chicken tenders were black. Chicken sandwich was as cold as it just came out of the fridge. Toasted bread and all.
Careyes ( The fancy rest)- We made reservations as all the reviews said to do....got there and there was no one there but they couldn't make our reservation until 8pm. We were turned away due to dress code. The men had shorts on. 2 men before us walked out in sweats and were allowed to eat there because they had pants on. it was ridiculous.

Everyone did get sick at one point during the trip. Not sure if it was the food or maybe the ice in the mixed drinks.

Room Tip: Make sure you are in the grand oasis and get a room in the teens or 20s for the best views.

Grand Oasis Cancun is part of an all-inclusive resort complex. The size of the complex assures guests that they will have abundant choices of dining and entertainment when they stay there. It is a very good value for the money.

Beware: there may be early morning calls from time-share salesmen at the resort. I don't know how you can discourage these calls other than to be not traveling with someone since time-share salesmen target couples. It is pretty annoying when it happens more than once.

We just returned on April 28/12 from a wonderful vacation at the Grand Oasis Cancun. We were a group of 11 and have no complaints at all. The resort is very clean. There is enough choice for meals no matter how fussy a person is. The room service was also great and very quick. The beach was very clean and nice. The shows were excellent. Also during the day they had entertainment around the resort. There is a part of the pool were it is a little more noisy due to the younger vacationers and the pool in that area is not the cleanest but this is not the resorts fault. It is clean in the mornings but by the end of the day it does get a little murky. But just around the corner you had a nice clean pool with a swim up bar that was crystal clear for us quieter people. The service was great no matter what restaurant we ate at (no reservations were required). This resort was one of the nicest that I have been to and we have been to a few. We stayed in the pyramid during our visit which is more quite than the other buildings but there were others with us that stayed in the regular buildings and did not complain about noise. There is lots to do on this resort. I would go back in a minute. A beautiful place!

Room Tip: Excellent Vacation!!

Word to the wise this place is "All Inclusive...KIND OF" all of the booze is mediocure and the vodka red bulls are 60 pesos (5 USD) the beer is watered down and the and the booze is all brands you have never heard of

We went to the Grand Oasis cancun at the tail end of spring break; so the pool was always packed (you will never get a lounge chair unless you get up at 6am) the pool was always murkey and had a funky smell to it; plus the swim up bar had a ton of ants and the soda on tap smelt just like the shower water did...nasty

When we arrived it took over an hour to get checked and when we fianlly got our keys we were hounded by people trying to sell us timeshares which really pissed me off. We finally find our room and guess what, the "air conditioner" which is really a swamp cooler didnt get below 77 degree in the room, luckily we had ocean view so we could use the sliding glass door for ventilation.

The food is sub par, the condiments are terrible (bring your own ketchup and or A1)
You have to make reservations for almost every restaraunt, and even if you have a reservation you still have to wait 10-25 minutes to be seated...

The showers and bathrooms stunk like sewage and the tub was dirty when we arrived.

Good luck if you go, I went cause it was cheaper, but I guess I got what I paid for.

My husband and I took our daughter and grand-daughter to the Grand Oasis at the end of January and beginning of February this year for 7 days. This was the 5th time we have been to Mexico and have always stayed at resorts in the Riviera Maya opposed to Cancun. We chose this resort due to it being near the airport and since we had our grand-daughter we did not want a long travel time from the airport. We had a good time with the exception of a few things.

Our biggest complaint was the room situation. We stayed in building 3 which has some rooms that have been renovated and some that aren't. The first room we were given was unfortunately one of the old rooms. I believe you can tell the renovated rooms by the door color. If it has a brown door expect it to be rather shabby. The room was small but I already knew that was probably going to be the case from other reviews. The part that bothered me was it just didn't feel clean because it was so worn out (especially the bathroom). There were two beds that were pushed together so we all basically slept together which we didn't mind because we were a family. We had no view except a palm tree directly in front of our balcony so that wasn't very enjoyable. Since we had our 2 year old grandaughter, we did spend quite a bit of time at night in our room so a view was important to us. We did ask to be switched to another room and finally on the 3rd day the manager did move us. Still small but felt much cleaner and had a view of the pool so we really didn't mind it.

The chair situation on the beach was also something we had not encountered at other resorts. The first day we put 4 chairs together with our magazines and went for breakfast. We went back right away after we ate and found 3 of our chairs to be gone. I was very surprised at that so the next time we wanted to go to the beach my husband got up at 6:00 and saved our chairs. We went to breakfast in shifts in order to keep our chairs for the day.

We really enjoyed the beautiful beach and the food at the Brazillian and Dos Lunas restaurants was very good! The filet mignon at Dos Lunas could be cut with your fork (I am not exaggerating). The buffets were good though not as big as some other resorts we have been to.

The resort is very large so if you are elderly or have small children it could be very tiring to walk to the different areas. We enjoyed that (nice after dinner walk) but did find that some areas were not very stroller friendly. We had to pick up the stroller to get down steps etc.

Overall we had a really nice time. I would probably go back again if the price was right but would be very particular about where the room was.

Room Tip: Water shoes would be helpful. I cut my foot on a rock.
