“Amazing time and great staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

What a great place - We stayed here for 7 days and had a great time.

The entertainment staff was tremendous. Ulysses and Denise were amazing at their jobs and had great senses of humor. There were plenty of activities for those who wanted a little more action but plenty of places to seclude yourself as well.

The restaurant staff at every restaurant were very attentive and went above and beyond for my wife who was vegetarian. There were plenty of options for her to choose from and she said they were amazing.

This is a small intimate place. It is not a crazy "party" atmosphere but very fun and you are able to let loose.

The room was clean and comfortable. We had hot tub and great ocean view. The room was cleaned every day with no issues. We were greeted with fresh fruit tray and champagne, Nice touch. The only complaint I had was the air didn't seem powerful enough, but I do like it very cool when I sleep. Maintenance did come and try to fix it but it was on max. Other than that, it was great.

We met a lot of wonderful people and will be planning another trip here. We talked to 5-6 couple who have tried other resorts in Cancun but will only come back to this one now. I would tend to agree with them. We will be back.

Room Tip: We had the upgraded room (not sure how, we must have purchased it without knowing) - Probably not wo...

When I arrived at the resort with my husband, I initially thought the place seemed a bit "outdated", but it was still beautiful and it has a large mermaid and dolphin statue in the center of the check-in area. We did not have an ocean view with our all-inclusive package. My husband asked for an ocean view room and we were upgraded to a suite on the 6th floor with a jacuzzi and the most amazing view of the blue-green water for $40/night. Keep in mind this was a fee we opted to get, but it was worth every penny! For this fee, we also had access to a fridge filled with beer, juice, water, and we also got a bucket of champagne, fruit, and cookies as a welcome gift. The highlight of my week in this resort is the SERVICE. The employees in this place go over and beyond for you. My husband and I tip these hard-working individuals very well because they earn every cent and more. In return they offer you an experience fit for a celebrity. Yes, you are purchasing an all-inclusive package and everything should be free. Please keep in mind that there is a difference between satisfactory service and exceptional service. Employees in these locations rely heavily on tips to support their families and they work extremely hard to earn them. Take my advice: tip well, and you will in return have the time of your life. I would specifically like to compliment Jose the bartender, Ulises the entertainer, Alejandro the snack bar cook, and my waiter Gali. Finally, the pools were clean, the waiters are attentive and constantly had the drinks coming in the pool or while we were in the jacuzzi or even on the beach. My husband and I are coming back because of the people there. They are there to make your vacation a memorable one for sure!

Room Tip: If i remember correctly, the even numbered rooms face the ocean and the odd ones face the Old Barn r...

We booked a quick 3 night vacation when Apple offered a deal. We've been to several resorts in Mexico.

This resort is clean, the food was very good, the staff was pleasant and accommodating, the beach was beautiful and clean. We thought the comedy show was hilarious.

If you are not good with stairs, you need to be extra careful exiting the back of the building by the pool. There are some ramps, but they are a bit steeper going out on to the beach.

There is no stocked refrigerator in the rooms - only the suites. Two small bottles of water are left in the room every day. A sign above the sink says the water is filtered and safe to use.

The buffet does close at 6 - HOWEVER, the restaurant selection is wonderful. No reason to go hungry. And the grill on the pool deck has great food during the day. I saw him make the guacamole fresh.

Coffee is dispensed from a machine. There were several people carrying a large thermos filled with their beverage of choice. All day/all night.

The vacationers were loud at night. It reminded me of spring break for adults. I like my sleep - so I didn't care for the yelling at 3:00 in the morning. People were hanging out on the balcony at 5 a.m. - didn't go to bed. If I had been next to them, I would have been livid!. We know this because we had to get up early to catch our flight. Should the staff tell them to knock it off? Should the vacationers try to be aware of the time? Based on this experience, I won't vacation here again.

My husband & I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Golden Parnassus in Cancun. We had a blast! I was very concerned about being bumped after reading reviews but we booked with Apple & had no problem. The property is a bit dated but the staff & guests make up for this. We had the most fun, everyone was so friendly & the party atmosphere was awesome! Food was great, we had a wonderful meal at The Shangri La & we didn't need reservations. Just know that each restaurant closes 1 night a week. We are hoping to go same time next year & meet up with some of the fun people we met this trip. Nice mix of age groups.....somewhat of an older crowd but nice mix.....enjoyed the adults only aspect. Nice shops on the grounds & vendors selling on the beach which was fun......no pressure. Would definitely return to the Golden Parnassus.

Room Tip: The standard room has a balcony that has a beautiful view of the sunset over the lagoon & we rea...

We went to the Golden Parnassus with another couple. We chose this hotel because it was Adults Only and we were looking for a getaway without kiddos..

Hotel - The outside of the hotel isn't as impressive as some of the other resorts as your driving past, so I was bit apprehensive when we arrived. However, when we walked in, you could immediately tell its very well kept and clean. Check-in was easy, so we grabbed a quick drink and headed to our room.

Room - Very clean and has everything you need. Nothing over the top, but again clean and well kept.

Food - Breakfast was really good. Lunch and Dinner, we could always find food that was suitable. Nothing really knocked our socks off, but there were some good dishes. The service and the wait staff were really good, after meeting them once, they knew you, and always wanted us in their section. Made you feel at home!

Beach - Beautiful and well maintained. Had a great beach bar, that was always very accommodating. Beware of the Mexican Viagra shot, unless you like something with a kick!

Pool - Water was great, played shot volleyball a few times, entertainment was fun.

Nightly Entertainment - Pretty weak, and the place had no ventilation and no AC. So we would watch for a few minutes and leave... Ended leaving my camera there, and went back about 30 minutes later and it was gone forever..

Overall, this was a very good experience and good value.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2014

We just returned from our first visit to an adult-only all inclusive resort. We went with our sister and brother-in-law for 10 days. This was one of many resorts we have visited in the Cancun-Riviera Maya area. Having read some of the negative reviews, we wondered what OUR experience would be, especially since we heard that Golden Parnassus often asked their guests to upgrade to the Great Parnassus, which is not an adult-only resort, and which is very large compared to the Golden (214 rooms).

Let me preface our remarks by saying we would DEFINITELY return to the Golden Parnassus.

ARRIVAL AND ROOMS: Approaching the entrance which was set back on one street over from the main highway, we felt that, compared with adjacent properties, it was older but inviting. We were warmly greeted by our Apple rep, Maria, and the staff at the Golden. After a tasty drink (Golden Parnassus mango special), we were told that, although we had booked a king garden room(in August), the only thing available that day was a room with double beds. At that point, they did mention the Great Parnassus upgrade, which we declined. (During our stay, we heard the front desk staff mention with some frequency the upgrade to the Great to several guests.) Since we had arrived at noon, we had hoped to settle in and enjoy the first day of our vacation.

Upon visiting our rooms, however, we noticed a distinct odor in our room, and a very strong bleach odor in my sister's room. We immediately tried to remedy it by speaking with Maria and Maru, Zazil, Juan Carlos (front desk managers). We did visit the Great to see if there was even a chance we would like to transfer. Although beautiful, WAY too large and busy for us! Upon our arrival once again to the Golden, we requested the manager to please come and view the rooms we were assigned. She did agree that the odor was very strong, and that the NEXT day they would have something different available for us. At this point,we considered moving to a different resort because the whole afternoon had gone by. However, after dinner, we were told to see the manager in the morning and an upgrade would be available early. Unfortunately, though, we had to sleep in the odor-filled rooms for the night.

The next day we were given king beds in a room on the 6th floor overlooking the parking lot and the lagoon--a TERRIFIC view of the sunsets! We would definitely recommend the lagoon side. The only other issue we had was that not all rooms had a refrigerator--something we have always had in the many other resorts we had visited. Nor were they stocked. Our suggestion would be that a refrigerator be standard issue in all rooms. Beds were quite comfortable.

Our Apple rep, Maria, and our local travel agent, Chris, at Vacation Center, were very helpful in resolving the room issues with the management.

ACTIVITIES IN CANCUN AREA: First of all, the bus was just a short walk to the main highway. For $1 you can go to the flea market (Coral Negra) near Carocol Mall or down to the pier to get the high-speed ferry to Isla Mujeres. Just tell the driver where you want to go and he will be very helpful. Isla Mujeres was a fun day and our second trip over there in 7 years. Take the high speed ferry for $19 and then rent a golf cart to drive yourselves around the island. Nice half day outing. Over the years, we have done lots of other activities, but this time around, we stayed on the beach.

GROUNDS: IMMACULATE!!!!! Someone was always cleaning the lobby, the pool area, and manicuring the plants. Even the beach was groomed each day.

BEACH: Probably this was the nicest beach we have ever been to in Cancun or Riviera Maya. Sand was like sugar and no seaweed or rocks. Except for the wind and rough surf, we loved walking the full length of the beach every day. Palapas offer the best protection from the sun, and it is a little cooler there than by the pool. There could be more palapas available, too.

POOL: The size was perfect for us, plenty of room. There was a bar and a waitress who was busy constantly. Water was clean and refreshing. The large jacuzzi was adjacent to the pool, overlooking the beach and the beautiful turquoise Caribbean, and it was hot compared to others we have tried. Again, there definitely needs to be more umbrellas. The staff security (Manuel Uc) was very visible and made a good attempt to see that lounges were not saved before 8 a.m. The "uncle" of the pool staff, Juvencio, worked tirelessly and went out of his way to provide us with umbrellas almost daily. He (along with ALL the staff at the Golden) recognized us each day by sight. Fresh towels were brought by him to the pool area several times a day, and he was constantly sweeping the pool area. He ALWAYS had a smile on his face!

FOOD: Not sure why the negative reviews on the food. This resort probably has the best food, including the buffet (which at other resorts seemed to get repetitive after 10 days). Buffet: Almost everything was freshly prepared in front of you. There were different food prep stations: Italian, Mexican, Oriental, in addition to areas of prepared food, salad/fresh fruit bars, and desserts. (Desserts were the BEST of any resort we've been to--says the scale:) Service here was exceptional. A few of our waiters were Samuel, Francisco, and Jesus, but I'm sure there were others, too, whose names I didn't get. It was clear that these and others seemed to enjoy their work and always greeted us with a smile. Although tips are included in the package, we felt ALL staff throughout the resort went above and beyond and therefore we always carried a small amount of cash with us. They all were very appreciative.

We liked that there were no reservations needed for the restaurants.

Shanri-la: Food and service were very good. My salmon, especially, was done to perfection. This is the only restaurant which requires long pants for the men.

The Barn: Filet Mignon was exceptional, as were the nachos/meat/cheese as an appetizer.

Oriental: Again, food very good.

Pier 12: This was really our favorite place. There was outdoor dining on the deck overlooking the beach. We never had lunch there, but they do have the same menu for lunch. Exceptional service!! Arturo, (manager) greeted us each time, remembering that we had been there before. The filet, grouper, and coconut shrimp all were terrific.

Poolside: There was a very good hamburger/fries/nachos stand right by the pool.

Crepes/waffle Bar: In the bar area in the lobby, there is an area which serves early breakfast (cold cereal, fruit, baked goods, coffee) and also crepes/waffles/ice cream in the early evening. Yummy treat!

Entertainment: Poolside, there was always something going on: pool volleyball/ basketball, trivia games, bingo, aqua aerobics, stretching, crafts, etc. Denise did a great job trying to involve everyone. The entertainment staff also took charge of the evening entertainment, which was extremely well done and better than almost all the resorts we have gone to. The theatre is next to The Barn and is nicely arranged with tables/chairs and is very comfortable.

Staff: What more can we say about the wonderful staff at this resort?? Service was prompt and the best ever! We were made to feel that we were a special part of the Golden Parnassus family. They all wanted to welcome us back for another visit. It seemed to us that many staff members had worked at the Golden for some time because they greeted return guests by name and hugs. Although we have been treated well in the past at other all-inclusives, the treatment we received at the Golden was extra-special. Many guests we spoke with had come back to the Golden year after year.

Therefore, for us, after 9 fantastic days, it's easy to see why we did not want to leave and would definitely want to return to the Golden Parnassus.

Room Tip: Room facing lagoon gives gorgeoue sunsets and are fairly quiet.
