We were staying at a hotel just up the road, in the Hotel Zone, and had passed by this restaurant several times. It is located across from the Kulkulcan Plaza shopping mall. There are many expensive restaurants for tourists in the hotel zone, but unless the restaurant has something special to offer, I prefer to eat at the hotel. We were looking for something to do on a very hot day, so we decided to try this restaurant, which also calls itself a "museum of tequila". The menu was quite impressive in the variety of mexican food and drinks. The restaurant was almost empty when we visited, but it was early in the day.
On a blistering hot day, we were happy to start with margaritas, which were excellent.
The food itself exceeded my expectations. The presentation of the meal in a "molcajete" (stone mortar) was very impressive. The portions of meat and shrimp were large and tasted great! The entire meal and the service was so good, we decided to stay and pay a bit more for the tequila museum tour. This is not a typical museum, but consists of showing you murals on the restaurant's walls and ceilings demonstrating each stage of tequila production. They show you each stage of tequila production, so you will definitely learn something about tequila. You will also see the equipment and the stills involved in production. The tour ends with a tequila tasting of different types of tequila (reposado, añejo, extra-añejo) and appetizer. You can end your visit by buying tequila and souvenirs in the gift shop,
Overall, we really enjoyed our visit to Museo Sensorial del Tequila in Cancun!! Everything from the service, the food and presentation, drinks, and the tequila tour were excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant for couples and adults. If you enjoy tequila or want to learn more about tequila, you will enjoy this place.
