“Not enough facts”
Reviewed 2 March 2013

This is now called the Alligator Tour. Started promptly at 1PM. Not enough factual information given. The bell boy at my hotel could have told me more about Cancun and its history. Boat goes into the lagoon for about 20 minutes and you are given about 3 minutes of information... the rest is dead air. It is a bilingual tour, but too much time is spent talking in one language. For example, the guide would talk for 3 minutes in English. By the time he started in Spanish, we were long past the attraction. The tour stops at El Rey. The guides don't explain anything - you just wander aimlessly. There are about three placards that describe a few structures, but that is it. We paid $32 per adult and $29 per kid. Our kids are 7 & 4 and both fell asleep on the tour. Overall, the tour was disappointing...we expected more history about Cancun or some information on the Mayans. We ended up bailing at El Rey and took a local bus home instead of going back to La Isla (we were 2 hours into the tour at this point).

“Excellent Tour - lots of Info!”
Reviewed 13 January 2013 via mobile

We took the tour on the 12th of January at 4 PM. Pickup was right at the entrance of the Isla Mall right on time. We were the only two passengers on the tour so we had the run of the vehicle and the full attention of the Tour guide (Jose Felipe) And his driver (Julio). they provided lots of detailed information about the hotels and buildings we went by, and recommendations for places to go, and those to avoid. There was also a lot of ecological information about the Cancun area, and also about the very extensive damage that Hurricane Wilma caused in 2005. The water portion of the tour was also pretty nice and Jose made a point of showing us the key items of the lagoon. Definitely recommend for any age group!

“Very Informative Guide, Good Value Tour”
Reviewed 1 December 2012

After a few hectic days, we decided to do the Cancun Duck Tours. I found this excursion online prior to our trip and put it on our to do list. The price has gone up to $33, but worth while. We first spent some time shopping at La Isla Shopping Center and bought our tickets at the kiosk at the entrance of the shopping center. The guy at the kiosk was very friendly & helpful, and took a genuine interest in Canadians which we were happy to talk with him about. The tour guide was also very friendly and informative about Cancun and the El Rey ruins. The tour runs along Blvd. Kukulkan, in the Nichupte Lagoon, and to the El Rey Ruins. Time well spent, and an enjoyable day. Cancun Duck tours has a website where you can find more information.

“Cancun Duck Tour”
Reviewed 22 November 2012

We stayed at an all-inclusive resort, so we were just looking for a little something different to break up our stay and found the Duck Tour on the internet. It is a reasonably priced and fun tour that goes through the city and then goes in the water for a tour around the lagoon. Our guide was very informative (sorry I cannot remember his name) and did a nice job of telling history and answering questions. The only thing that was somewhat of a gliche was that when we called to make a reservation (the internet wanted a 3-day prior to departure reservation) the person we talked to said we could use a credit card at the boarding point (las islas shopping center kiosk), but when we got there, the rep had left and we needed to pay cash, so luckily we had brought enough cash to pay. We had walked from our resort, so it would have been a problem to go back for it...just a miscommunication. I would recommend this tour.
