“Brilliant and attentive staff, very clean hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2013

I stayed at the Park Royal Hotel from 20 Sep - 4 Oct 13 with my friend and her family (group of 6). The hotel on first impressions looks slightly outdated to some of the more extravagant hotels on either side (the pictures online are old and there is a hotel on either side of the two buildings now) but neat and well kept. Upon check in I asked about the wifi which we were told we had to pay for, it was $10 for a day or $16 for 24hrs which is disgusting really and we felt it should be free as most hotels offer this service these days. The room we were given was nice, my friend and i had a large bed each and the room was very clean- no balcony though which was dissapointing.

The pool areas, lobby, restaurants and bars are all very well kept and immaculate.. the staff are friendly, the best i've ever experienced and are always willing to help with anything. The bars are well stocked with masses of choice and include cocktails and shots as part of your all inclusive package which I thought was good as you dont often get this. There is food available all day from various places and you can have as much as you like. The beach, which you can access from the back of the hotel is beautiful and the best ive ever seen, white sands with blue water.. the beach itself was very clean and never crowded. We had the chance to help the local wildlife conservationsists release newly hatched baby turtles into the sea (free of charge) which was an unforgettable experience.

The food i thought was nice, the main buffet area has a different theme each night and was generally nice. Sometimes it could be cold though if you went down later. The other restaurant was exceptional and we ate there nearly every night- it was no children which was bliss and you had a waiter who served you as apposed to the self service in the other restaurant. The choice wasnt massive but i found the quality to be well worth eating the same thing a couple of times whilst our two week stay.

Other points to make, the hotel is in a good location which isnt too far from the main centre where all the attractions and clubs were. The entertainment in the hotel was average, as we were british we didnt understand a lot of it as it was mainly in spanish. There werent a lot of british people in the hotel during our stay, a few american families but that was it.. The hotel was noisey on a night- i think this was due to the marble flooring in the corridors and rooms.. we often heard screaming children or loud talking couples stood in the corridor late at night or very early in the morning which grated on me big time. In fact screaming kids was one of the low points about this hotel, there were a lot of families with ferral children running around which did my head in.

Overall Cancun is amazing and the Park Royal hotel was good, this was mainly due to the staff, location, cleanliness and bar choices. If I returned I would go to a different hotel though, probably one a bit newer which was more for adults.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony.

We had an excellent time with guys. Thank You for making our 45th wedding anniversary stay one we will never get! We met many different people from the USA and Mexico and got to know a whole Mexico family whom we plan to stay in touch with. Once again, thank you so much for a great stay The whole staff was great and we got to know some of them.

Room Tip: Higher rooms give you a very excellent view.

Small hotel on great beach with easy walking distance to restaurants, malls, and nightlife. Food is average and drinks are generally in Styrofoam which I don't like. Pools are clean and maintained. Staff is GREAT with only a couple exceptions. Room is old and we didn't have a balcony - would suggest you request one. Room was clean. Dinner at night is buffet or one ala carte. Both were average. Location is great. We would return because of staff and location knowing we would eat out a few times.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a balcony room.

We stayed here because it was a gift from my father in law for our honey moon. I had stayed at many hotels an this was not one of my favorites. The hotel is outdated and the rooms look like they traveled from the 80's there is only one buffet and the food is good. The restaurant close to the beach is also great but the facilities look older. The hotels location is great but if you can rent a car is the best you can do since taxis are expensive in cancun.

I thought I was getting a real deal by booking this hotel 8 months in advance paying 49usd/day on all inclusive + room! They charge for internet service, per device !!! They charge for the gym, daily!
Recommendations : If you want to come to this hotel, go stay in a presidential suite! Don't buy a modem in La Isla, pay for the premium internet service or use the service with your phone!

Just spent three weeks at Park Royal Cancun and with this review I will first give kudos to Monica (General Manager) for the extreme overall cleanliness of the property and her excellent choices of staff! They are the friendlist group of people around! Being met by Edgar(Front Desk) manager when we arrived just made the trip a little nicer. Paco,(Activities Director>l always made time for us old timers ...he's great! The bartenders, Manuel, Mario, Leonardo, Luis, Benjamin,Esteban and all the rest always made sure we were having fun, even when Mother Nature was doing her best to see otherwise lol...weather can be iffy this time of year, but also can be the best. Can't wait till next Sept. to see all the friends I've met thru the years, but I will be back in April to meet new ones! thanks again Park Royal Cancun!

On September 10th began our three week stay (for the 8th time) at the Park Royal Cancun, Mexico. First week we hit some storms, but that didn't stop our ability to have fun. The staff at Park Royal rose to the occasion. The bartenders (Mario, Leonardo, Luis, etc) always had smiles on their faces and funny stories to tell. The recreation staff (Paco and his crew and Monica the department manager) ensured all guests were actively involved all day long. Every year we go participants in the activities grows and grows as well as guest numbers. We meet so many people from around the world and our friend base just keeps growing. Mealtime is always a blast as the waiters can't wait to greet and serve you. Can't wait til next year to see our friends again!

Room Tip: Any room at this hotel is great, it just depends upon the number of people you are traveling with an...
