Families and friends, a group of seven adults spending a week in Cancun. Every single one in our group had an amazing time sailing aboard Sailing Mare's “Xanadu” for the whole eight hours. Luis is very accommodating specially with the scheduling. I did not finalize the booking until 3 days before due to weather, I wanted to make sure that the weather was perfect for sailing. Scheduled a late sail so we can watch the sunset on our sail back from Isla Mujeres. Our day started by sailing across the turquoise water of the caribbean sea, snorkeling in the middle of the ocean was a great experience, Luis attracted a lot of fishes by spreading shredded tortillas on the water. Snacks, drinks and lunch was provided, Luis suggested two good restaurants in Isla Mujeres, we wanted seafood so he brought us to Picus Cockteleria, good food! You can bring your favorite alcoholic beverage on board and your own playlist of your favorite songs to be played while sailing. After lunch, Luis took us swimming off the shore of Playa Norte. Four of our group swam/floated around the boat while me, my wife and brother just relaxed and soaked up the beautiful scenery while listening to some good music. We had an spectacular sunset views of both Cancun and Isla Mujeres on our sail back to the marina. The whole crew was very attentive with our needs. Thank you Julio for keeping the beverages flowing!!! Many thanks to Luis for having us spend the day at our own pace.

We cannot express enough gratitude to Luis and his first mates Julio and Ricardo, we will definitely sail with them again next time we are vacationing in Riviera Cancun.

Muchas Gracias!!!

Thank greza

Our day out with Luis and Julio on board the Xanadu was absolutely brilliant! Owing to the lack of wind at the start of the day we motored to a snorkelling site where we swam amidst hundreds of beautiful fish in clear turquoise waters. After snorkelling there was still little sign of wind and we motored a bit further to snorkel on the reef just of the north beach at Isla de Mujeres. A slightly hairier snorkel and swim, life jackets recommended even for strong swimmers, but great fun and many fish again.
Back on board we enjoyed drinks and the best guacamole of our holiday. And the wind blew so we set sail. Fantastico!
Then the highlight for our teenage boys - jumping off the front of the boat (whilst sailing), swimming to the rear and catching hold of a line to pull yourself back up onboard whilst still sailing! More fun than jumping in the cenotes!
This was probably the best day of our holiday - Luis is an excellent skipper and host and Julio ia a more than competent crew member - although not a very good fisherman!!! It was a great mix of lazing on deck, snorkelling, leaping in the clear waters and a few cervezas for good measure. We couldn't fault the trip - gracias Luis y Julio - muy perfecto!

What a wonderful afternoon we had! Just my husband and myself sailing with Luis and his mate. It's not far from Downtown/hotel zone Cancun. Just follow Bonampak till you reach the La Amada residences. Turn there, it's there even though you can't see it from the road. Luis had the boat ready and waiting when we arrived. They made sure we had plenty of drinks and some freshly cut mangos for us during our trip. We had intended to stop off at Isla Mujeres for dinner, but we were too full from lunch. Luis was kind enough to change plans at the last moment and circumnavigate Isla Mujeres instead. This is sooo much better then the cattle boats we saw out there that had "sails" but were under motor power. The water is absolutely amazing.... beautiful! Can't wait to back out with them again.

We had an option for a catamaran sail through the hotel, up to 70 on a single party boat. How often do these catamarans actually sail vs chug along on its motor.

So let's talk about sail mare. Louis who loves to sail, i.e., make way with wind power alone, captains, takes you to your chosen destinations with simple food and drink for a price that is around twice as much as the catamaran per person. Well worth it IMHO but shop and compare. Your sail vs. your part of a large group motor.

At 10:30pm, the evening before our reservation to sail on the Xanadu, I received a phone call from Luis Alonso saying that he had double booked this boat, so he was putting my family on a smaller one. I had exchanged EIGHT emails with Mr Alonso in the month preceding our trip, and had spoken to him once on the phone. I had very clearly explained which boat I was interested in, and he constantly confirmed this via email and our phone conversation. We were not impressed with a $50 reduction in price. The pictures clearly showed an inferior boat that we were not interested in sailing. We feel extremely upset at this classic bait and switch. Evidently confirmed reservations cannot be trusted with this company.
