“Amazing 8 days!!”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

My boyfriend and I stayed here from May 24-31 and it was the most amazing vacation ever! The staff go above and beyond and are always extremely nice. The Italian restaurant was delicious along with the Japanese, the others were not my favorite. All the menus are very limited and I am not a huge fan of buffets, the food was OK but it was disappointing to have to eat buffets for breakfast and lunch so we ended up going downtown to eat a few times because the food became redundant. The entertainment staff was a huge plus to this resort, went to a club 2 of the nights which was a lot of fun and relaxed the other days. Would definitely return as soon as we can afford it again!! Well worth every penny.

Room Tip: Villas are nice but some are facing the street, we ended up upgrading to a suite which faced the oce...

We enjoyed a week at the Riu Palace Peninsula and had a really lovely stay. The hotel is immaculate and the grounds are beautiful. Maintained so well every day. The setting is beautiful looking over the beach. The restaurant for breakfast and lunch are looking over the beach with a lovely breeze to keep you cool which is needed. We chose to eat outside to enjoy the view but you can eat in an air-conditioned section. Huge variety of food to choose from. If you were staying more than 6 days I think you would tire of the choice of restaurants and the food. It started to feel limited.
Our room was beautiful and well maintained. Worth getting the villa suites which lets you have access to an exclusive pool area which was less busy and noisy. Definitely recommend the Riu.P.P. It has an air conditioned foyer which the Riu next door did not. It was lovely to sit in there and have coffee or drinks each day.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade and choose a villa room.

This is our 2nd trip to Cancun. We came here to celebrate our Birthdays on the first week of May. First time we stayed at Riu Palace Las Palmas, and decided to stay at Riu Peninsula after seeing all the pictures and reading the reviews. This resort was immaculate inside & out. From the minute you check-in to check-out, everyone has been so nice. Our room was on the 14th floor & had an amazing view....WOW!! I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. The food was great from the buffet, to Krystals to the Steakhouse. Thank you Riu for making us a Birthday cake on 2 separate nights, and for the surprise gift in our room. We loved tipping all the bartenders, cocktail servers & food servers extra. Everyone was very grateful. The beach area was rocky(just like in the pictures), but the sister hotel next door has a better beach, so you can lay there instead. We enjoyed seeing the many iguanas all around the resort. I also accidentally left my luggage unlock and nothing was stolen after coming back to a clean room. Everyone seem to dress up nice at night to just hang out at the lobby or watch the nightly entertainment. If your going to Tulum, it will take almost 3 hours all together to get there if your tour has to stop to pick up other people on the way there. It is VERY hot, so wear sunblock, sunglasses, hat and comfortable shoes. The taxi ride cost about $15 each way to the mall/lighthouse marina where we did the jetpack adventure. The jetpack will charge you an extra $40 for your CD pictures & videos. We are well traveled(have been to Bora Bora, Dubai, Paris, Atlantis in the Bahamas, just to name a few) and this resort has a very good price for ALL INCLUSIVE.

Room Tip: The ocean view room on the 14th floor that we stayed at was next to the elevator, and didn't hea...

I stayed in this hotel for 8 days last May 2014. Its an amazing hotel with an amazing service and staff.

- I travelled with my 2.5 years old daughter, there is a kids club, but not much to do in this age. There is some pools for kids...

- Room was fantastic, amazing view. We stayed in the 10th floor, it was little bit noisy at night from the show at the stage. The pillows in the room need a BIG improvement.. The housekeeping makeup the room 2 or 3 times a day...( you have to be very generous with the tips)

- Food and Drinks are amazing, some previous reviews complained about the food !! These people really don't know anything about Food and taste... Tons of varieties to choose from and every night they have a different cuisine, Breakfast is amazing too. Some people complained about the advance reservation in the gourmet restaurants, I never faced that.. I used to walk in and give a BIG tip to the head waiter and things will be ok, you should be very generous with your tips and not cheap and stingy like these people who complained !!

- As for the services, all the waiters didn't know how to please me, every 3 min, a waiter will pass by and ask if I need something to eat or drink, (I was treated like a SULTAN).

Overall, it was a great experience and definitely I would repeat this hotel again..

Room Tip: - Just be generous with your tips to get the outstanding services - Take the higher Rooms on the ri...

Check in was great, if you can stay in the villas, do so, by all means, quicker service, exclusive check in line made it well worth it!
We stayed in the adults only villa, and our room was lovely. However, since the shower is part of the room, with no exhaust fan, we had a problem with the everything becoming damp due to humidity of shower and a/c together. I'd really recommend adding an exhaust fan above the shower. Also, if you showered before 7 am, the water did not get hot.
Being all inclusive was lovely, but you must book two days in advance for the restaurants. The desk doesn't open until 8, many times, you have already left on a tour and don't get back until late afternoon. All the restaurants were booked, with the exception of the exclusive one for the villas. However, if you walked by those restaurants at serving time, there were many empty seats, so all inclusive is only true, if you are willing to eat at the buffet. Also, the white wine could have been chilled more.
The room service menu was very limited and you could not have breakfast served before 7 a.m., once again, if you go to the ruins, the tours leave between 6 and 7, so no breakfast, that you have already paid for.
The cappuccino bar was awesome, and the service at the counter great, if you ordered something from the bar, on the cappuccino side, good luck.
The pool side service at the Villas pool was spot on! In the main areas, the volleyball court was always busy and the staff did a great job of getting people involved in games, etc..
All in all, a lovely place, but could it use a few minor adjustments.

Room Tip: The garbage is picked up late Friday night, early Sat a.m., on the villas side, so if you are a ligh...

We arrived to cancun two days ago. Riu peninsula is a beautiful hotel, impressive design, very clean. We waited about half hour for transportation from airport to hotel, we booked the room and transportation through Riu. Arrived to hotel at 11 am, checked in really fast, made reservations for restaurants. Our room on 4th floor was ready at 3 pm. I was reading reviews about the hotel prior travel, many people mentioned loud entertainment, and they are right. Even though our room in east tower and 4th floor, we could not fall asleep. So for people who like to go to sleep before 11 pm get higher floor!
We were amazed with abundance of food choices in restaurants, beautiful desserts, loved the coffee shop!
Definitely will plan to return to this place in future. Only one big complaint, we have not seen Any Sunshine and probably will not have it throughout the whole week! Very cloudy, heavy thunderstorms, cold water in pools and ocean! We traveled to cancun six times, and never seen weather like this!!! Very disappointed! Praying for at least one day of sunshine!!!

We have just returned from an amazing 2 week stay at the RPP.

This hotel is amazing, we previously stayed at the Riu a Palace alas Americas and although that hotel is within walking distance the RPP wins our vote.

The hotel is modern and clean. We didn't find the reviews about the over use of the colour purple to be true. The look of the hotel and the lay our are excellent, the hotel never seemed too busy.

The rooms are spacious, have a walk in shower, toilet room, sliding mirrored wardrobes, electric safe, jet tub, wall mounted flag screen tv, free mini bar, fridge and a big balcony. We stayed on the 9th floor in the middle of the hotel and had an amazing view of the sea and hotel grounds.

The beach was good, one part is very rocky but that didn't bother us too much, we used the Riu Caribe beach next door, which you are allowed to do. There were always sun loungers available no matter what time of the day. The hotel had a beach party with a fire show on Saturdays, this turned out to be a good night and something the RPLA did not offer.

The food was very good, I am a fussy eater but always found basic thinks like hot dogs, burgers, chicken nuggets, rice and chips for lunch and dinner.

There is a 24 hour sports bar that's always seems to have the air con on, sometimes it's good to sit there out the heat, you could microwave hamburgers or have hot dogs, nachos, cakes etc any time of day or night.

The hotel is not really near anything, there is a shop in the hotel but it is rather expensive a short 5 min walk will take you to the OXXO shop and you will find things much cheaper.

The local buses stop just outside the hotel and we never waited anymore than a minute it only costs 9.5 pesos or 50p per person no matter what distance you travel.

We did not eat in the speciality restaurants. The staff are very hard working, we did have an issue with the buffet waiters at the end of out holiday but the managers made it up to is on the last night.

There was always security present at the hotel and at one time a group of people tried to come into our complex but the security guard turned them away as they did not have hotel bands on.

The servers at the pool area were very hard working and out in the heat all day, we tipped these guys as the really deserved it.

We will be returning back to this hotel next year.
