Im finding it difficult to write a fair and balanced review here because there are so many things about this hotel that are absolutely fantastic but a couple of things that really spoil it for us. We are still here on the 6th nov, so this is live off the press. Its a new hotel and if they get the fine tuning right it can be outstanding, however if they don't, it will certainly not achieve the exclusivity level it deserves and the customers expect from a hotel of this standard. Obviously this is only our view, however we are speaking to many of the guests and are finding they share the same views.
The accommodation is first class ( we are in a preferred guest room which is stunning) and the public areas are very modern and beautifully presented. The lobby and coffee bar are great and certainly give the wow factor on arrival. Facilities generally are first class and immaculately clean as you'd expect.
Staff are out of this world helpful, polite and friendly. This is a real strong point of the hotel - the staff really are amazing.
The food overall is excellent particularly the breakfast / lunch buffets, the Nebbiolo and the Bluewater Grill. I'd give the others a miss - they aren't bad, they just don't quite match the high standards set by the outstanding Italian and Steakhouse. The Sea Salt (poolside restaurant) is actually pretty poor - we had the worst service by far here and cold food served. Asking around other guests they've had the same experience. Give this a miss and just nip inside to the buffet - you won't be disappointed.
So with all these great points, why are we not having the most amazing holiday ever??
The issue for us is that the hotel needs to decide what it is and what clientele it is aiming to attract. Throughout our entire holiday we are being bombarded with the loudest most outrageous dance type music I have ever heard. You simply cannot escape it as it is everywhere, the pool area, the lobby, wherever you go it is an assault on your senses. Even the preferred guest pool area is the same, albeit we did get it turned down a bit. We are in our early forties so not quite in old age yet and certainly not prudes, and looking round the hotel I'd say the average clientele would be around our age group or even a little older - the ones we speak to are feeling the same way! This is like being in a club 18-30 night club resort in Ibiza. This is not what we want from a 5 star supposedly exclusive resort. We are not trying to be 18 again and so we go to these kind of resorts to we have some feeling of exclusivity and a little peace and quiet to relax. We along with numerous others have complained but sadly it isn't changing... The standard response is that they have no control over it as it's controlled by head office! The management really need to just have a walk by the pool and see who the guests are.
There is also a point about how other guests are allowed to behave. We have a particularly noisy bunch around this week who insist on playing their own music at the poll side which again is something I don't expect to be allowed around a resort like this. Having 2 noises competing for air time is particularly annoying. This is inappropriate and unacceptable as I believe nobody should be expected to have their privacy intruded in this way. The hotel need to have a code of conduct that they enforce with all guests. Why should everyone be subjected to this?
So to my point about the hotel deciding what they want to be - is this going to be a high end resort creating exclusivity or are they looking for a younger more lively clientele who want a night club type environment with dance music blasting out all day long - they need to decide.
For you the potential guest you need to know before you book what you're coming to. It's an outstanding hotel with many amazing points, but if you're looking for tranquility, peace and quiet and exclusivity it won't be for you. What begins as an irritation quickly builds to being a real issue that for us is spoiling our holiday.
It's a shame because it has the potential to be amazing, it just isn't quite.

My husband and I stayed at Secrets from Oct 31 to Nov 3. The resort is absolutely luxury plus, from the room to the service to the food, etc. The restaurants have an amazing selection of everything from vegetarian to outstanding seafood. The drinks are of course unlimited and believe me, they are not watered down! You have unlimited internet and calling to the US, which are both free - a great feature to have when you need to contact the folks back home who are going through a hurricane!
It seems that all rooms have an ocean view, due to the way it was built.
The only drawback to this place is that it is beside the Hard Rock and the nightlife noise does carry up to the rooms. Oh, well - either partake in the festivities or turn your air conditioner on high to wipe out the noise!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher level to enjoy the view.

I went to Secrets the vine from Oct 7 to 14 2012. The hotel is bran new and is just amazing. I couldn't ask for nicer beach, better food and atmosphere. The rooms are very clean. The gym has the most updated machines and the view to the beach is awsome.
The service is super great. I would go back on a heart beat.

The Vine has a gorgeous interior and beautiful spacious rooms. We took the Ultra Luxury Package but it isn't worth it. The "regular" folks have access to the best real estate: with 3 pools and many outdoor bars and restaurants to choose from. Much better deal than being stuck up at the "infinity pool" packed in like sardines. The staff is amazing. The dinner restaurants are awesome. Gentlemen need to bring long pants to eat inside. It is "all inclusive" with the exception of their bottles of wine. They feature a Chilean wine with the all inclusive package and it is quite nice, so I didn't see most people purchasing bottles. However it was annoying that the italian restaurant did not feature any italian wine. They bill the resort as a 5-star, but it is actually a very nice 4-star. The hotel is huge, 28 floors. We prefer something a bit smaller and intimate but overall we had a wonderful time.

Room Tip: The rooms with the wrap-around balconies are amazing- the gulf on one side and the ocean on the othe...

I am just returning from a long weekend in the new Secrets The Vine.
First we were assigned to a room that was still occupied, and from there all went downhill.
All messages, credit card details were apointed to the room that was supposed to be ours and not to the one we were in.
We reserved through kayak and asked for a king bed, when we arrived there were no rooms with king beds. Food is presented in a pretentious way, but lacks in flavor.
The resort is nice. Beautiful desing. Rooms are modern, not hughe, but with all what you need. Bath amenities could be better. For the price one would expect a brand of soaps, shampoos, body lotion, etc.
In the restaurants service is very slow. From the time you sit at your table you can wait al tealst 15 min until you get bread, and another 5 min for a drink. Take your time.
Finally, this morning I ordered room service at 5:30 am since my flight was very early and it arrived 15 min late, so I didn't have the chance to enjoy breakfast and added stress to our vacation.

My husband and I travelled with two other couples from October 20-27 and it was fabulous! We got a phone call from our tour operator the day after our arrival and my husband summed it up when he told them that there is nothing they could do to make this place more enjoyable. The room was gorgeous, the views were spectacular, the food was awesome, the drinks were great and the pools were terrific. We had booked a preferred deluxe room and upgraded for a small fee upon arrival to a preferred junior suite. The suite on the 26th floor was beautiful. Very roomy. We were also glad we had booked preferred club as the butlers were a nice touch although we did not use ours much. Also, the preferred club pool was great. It is an infinity pool on the 12th floor overlooking the pool below and the ocean just beyond that. A service that we quite enjoyed was a standing room service order every morning at 8:30 for coffee/tea/pastries and fruit. This came each day as requested per our butler on day 1....a very nice touch. I also enjoyed the coffee shop. They had great little sandwiches perfect for an afternoon snack and nice coffee and ice cream treats. We also felt quite comfortable taking the bus to a little open air shopping mall a few blocks away. I would highly recommend this resort and will definitely go back!

Room Tip: I imagine all the rooms are spectacular but if I were to go back I would ask for a room where I can...

You feel immediately spoiled the second you walk into this resort. The staff is so fun and friendly and willing to accommodate your every need. The room was beautiful and super clean- they tidy up your room 3 times a day! We kept saying we felt like celebrities. No reservations needed at any restaurant ever and every restaurant feels and tastes like you are eating at a super fancy restaurant you could never afford. Our dreams about this place were not as good as it actually was! Will return as much as possible and would recommend this resort to everyone. They thought of everything when creating this resort; no vacation will ever compare.
