The Paradisus Cancun provided a great working environment in a very relaxing setting. The food was not as vast as other resorts but the ambiance was amazing and vibrant. It`s location to La Isla and Kukulcan Mall was very close and walking the beaches were fantastic.

This was our first time to the Paradisus in Cancun, and we booked through the resort. When we booked, we were told this included an upgrade to Royal Service.

We arrived in the evening at about 8 pm local time. We were given our room keys, gold bracelets, and a small map of the hotel which included the wi-fi password. We also received a list of restaurants with an explanation that some were off limits to us. This seemed odd as we were upgraded to Royal Service, and that was the higher tier of service..

We got lost a few times trying to find our room in pyramid 5. It was dark and after we figured it out we did just fine, but it was frustrating having no clue where things were and getting turned around. We did not receive an over view of the property, or any other information.

We made it to our room and it was beautiful.. really nice. We had a partial ocean view, and it was clean and tasteful. On the TV, however.. it said "Welcome Bucher".. which I will say is not my husband's or my first, middle, or last name. Our luggage was brought up about 15 minutes later, and we headed out for Blue Agave.

Blue Agave was ok. It was not Specacular.. but certainly edible, and the service was alright. I'm not one to believe everyone should cater to Americans when we travel, and just magically speak English, but I was a little surprised at the fact that most of the people, most of the time spoke very very little English at all. Thankfully my husband speaks Spanish and I can get by with what I know, because we would have had a lot of difficulty if that were not the case.

We got lost again trying to find the beach after Blue Agave that night. Some entrances were closed off with the construction, and others were just hard to find. We did find the beach however, and wow. Magnificent. Even at night you could tell the ocean was BLUE, and the temperature was perfect.

We ended up eating at Naos Buffet, which was pretty unbelievable for a buffet. The amazing Juice Lady Zoila in the back makes fresh juices in the morning, and everything was great. There were omelet stations, waffles and pancakes with a large assortment of things to put on top. There was a fruit area with plenty of fresh options, and also hot food buffet with things like scrambled eggs in green sauce (delicious), and some great Mexican options. We ate really well at Naos Buffet.

We also ate at Fuego, which was not the best place by far but had decent food. I'd say the food was pretty good, but the dessert selection was lacking, and the actual deserts were pretty bad. We had the bean strudel and the caramel mousse. I wouldn't recommend either. I'd recommend slipping over to the Naos Buffet and loading up on their big selection of desserts. Pineapple cake, pineapple pie, orange tarts, chocolate tarts, etc!

We ate at Mole, and it was my favorite dining experience at the Paradisus. Our service was excellent. The food was excellent. And the mariachi band was first rate. The music was very very good and the entertainment factor was fabulous. I ate the tortilla soup (YUM), the grilled Sea Bass (very very yum!) and had dessert too, which I can't remember now.. but it was all SO good. However.. it was at this restaurant that we sat next to a very nice couple who also wore gold bracelets. They asked who our butler was.. (What butler??) they said theirs provided them with free sunscreen and aloe vera, and they had a cell phone given to them just to call their butler if they needed anything.

So this is where we realized that our "upgrade" was not really an upgrade. Yes, we were in an upgraded room in the Royal Service pyramid, but that was as far as it went. We did have access to all the restaurants, and everything was included, but all of the perks like butler, etc.. not so much. That was frustrating. We had half the Royal Service, and not all the good parts.

I did feel like things needed to be explained a little better.. they send you off not knowing which area you can be in, which restaurants you can eat at inclusively (really all of them, the prices listed on the menu are in pesos, and mean nothing..) They should tell you that you need to reserve a Bali Bed, and that if you aren't there to claim it by noon they will give it away. We were called Mr. and Mrs. Bucher repeatedly which was really strange too.

So I felt like on one hand the service was really poor. Wrong name, half an upgrade, poor communication. On the other hand.. beach service and actual waitstaff really had it going on. Enrique on the beach was unbelievable. Octavio up by the palapa bar was stellar too. The food at the palapa bar was on a limited menu, but very good for the 5 days we were there. I had the Mahi Mahi, the skirt steak, the fresh fruit, and the chips and guacamole. Everything was fresh, well presented and seasoned.

The grounds at Paradisus are incredible. They are constantly cleaning, trimming, and working on things. That said.. the construction is a little loud if you're trying to nap. The interior atrium areas of all the pyramids were outstanding. Koi ponds, gardens, hanging foilage from everywhere. It was calm and inviting. The exterior are also nice. The bali beds and shaded umbrellas are beautiful, and the grounds are fairly well maintained. The pool was COLD though. Like.. I'm not going to the swim up bar cold. Even with the daytime temps at 85, it was too cold for me to sit in it long enough to have a pina colada. But the view..

Million. Dollar. Views. The ocean and beach area were top notch. It was different from Hawaii, of course, but no less amazing. The shades of aqua, torquoise, and sapphire were stunning. The beach was clean with soft, white sand. Outstanding beach.

We bought a conch shell from one of the beach vendors and had no issues with pushy guys. Everyone wanted to approach you with necklaces, wood carvings, cigars, and shells, but a simple no thanks worked fine.

We didn't get bombarded by time share sellers, but I understand some people really did. Over all it was a fairly relaxing short getaway with great weather and food. If the few issues we had were fixed it would certainly be a 5 for us. We'd probably try somewhere else next time, but we did like the place over all.

Oh yes.. and TAKE plenty of Sunscreen. We ran out, and if you have to buy it in the shop (Where they only accept pesos) the cheapest tube is about $30. In town it's not much better. We finally found a small tube at a supermarket for $12.

Room Tip: We stayed in partial ocean view, and could hear the surf.. the view was south facing, but we could s...

We just spent Thanksgiving week at Paradisus Cancun and thought it was worthy of a great review. We travel to Cancun every holiday season and have stayed at both Hard Rock (formerly Cancun Palace),La Blanc and Playacar palace in Playa del Carmen. It was SWEET. Our check In and room request was great (unlike palace and hard rock experiences) . The view was awesome, room was very clean and updated, and the resort was very cool. We booked the royal service ocean front ocean view junior suite and requested a higher floor. It was very quiet in our seperate royal service part of the hotel and very relaxing. Our pool was great and the best part is the Bali beds. There is 6 or so directly on the beach and a bunch around the pool. Even the lawn chairs in the sand under the palapala's were fantastic. We didn't have to fight for chairs or feel packed in like sardines . The food and drink service was great and I think the beach bathroom was cleaned every half hour. The restaurants were good. Our favorite was the most simple Blue Agave, then Mole,Fuego, Vente and the Asian being the least . The buffet for breakfast was great especially the fresh juice bar made to order and custom egg/omelet station. We are not complainers or super picky but we do have certain expectations when we go on vacation and this place was great, no worries (especially with the royal service butler service to make reservations ect). We did not use our credits as they were not the best but we didn't book for the resort credit either so not a big deal. There is some good energy at night in the hotel and some fun entertainment . If you want some good food in town quite a ways Perricos and there is another one down the same street is great. Thank you to all the staff for the great service especially David at the pool .

Room Tip: Royal service,ocean front , ocean view , floor 5 or 6 .

Loved my week here in Cancun especially with the awesome staff. I'm a huge volleyball fan and the staff played daily with me. Freddy Ocampo ran the entertainment and always worked to get everyone involved. From Zumba, to pool aerobics, to volleyball, we all had a blast! I'd definitely go back.

This was our first time visiting Cancun and are very happy we chose to stay at Paradisus. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. The room was clean and had a great ocean view. We would experience the beautiful sunrises.

We were there last week and decorated for Christmas.... looked beautiful with the poinsettias and the Christmas lights.

We loved the delicious buffets at Naos Restaurant. Jesus and Orlando Bello gave us excellent service in the mornings for breakfast and Miguel Ku and Raymundo Gordillo for dinner. They made us feel very special with their attention.

1 small error during check-in was quickly resolved, and our vacation at Paradisus was excellent. The staff couldnt have been nicer, and the resort was beautiful. In no particular order-here is what we liked about the place (We were there on a Family Concierge Package).

-beautiful resort, lobby area in main tower is gorgeous
-staff very helpful, always smiling and asking if you need anything
-pools very clean and well maintained (pool for infants/children too)
-food was excellent in the buffet (NAOS) and restaurants (Fuego/Vento/Blue Agave)
-Concierge Lounge is nice, cold drinks, snacks and staff ready to get you whatever it is you need
-butler service was outstanding (rarely used, but there if we needed it)
-room service for food-quick and really good
-bar service at pool was top notch-top shelf liquor and their drinks are NOT watered down!
-bali beds are perfect at the pool area to lounge in
-constant waiter service no matter where you are-lobby, pool side or on the beach
-kids zone was perfect for our 6 year old, highly recommended

The only negatives were at check in they failed to recognize we had family concierge, some amenities promised were not delivered (very trivial minor things-but don't advertise them if they cant be followed through on). Since its low season there was a lot of maintenance and remodeling going on-can't complain about the fact they are trying to continually make the place better, but jack-hammers around the pool area was a little annoying. Entertainment at night very limited.

Over all a great place, i would highly recommend this resort for families, especially with younger kids. The "tweens" may get bored, but overall a great family resort. The surf is a little rougher here than the northern part of the hotel zone so swimming in the ocean can be tough. We will likely return.

Room Tip: Avoid tower 1 if you don't like to walk a lot.

My husband and I traveled with two kids and my mother-n-law and booked two family concierge 1 bdrm suites. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the service everywhere was great! Everyone was so friendly. We enjoyed the perks of the family concierge like the private bali bed and milk/cookies for the kids just to name a few! The room was spacious and had two huge balconies. My daughter loved the kids club and didn't want to leave the hotel or Cancun! We were there for a short visit so we only got a chance to see one show which was really good. The beach and ocean were to die for and we really liked Market Grill Restaurant. There were only a few cons worth mentioning which were also noted in previous reviews. Since the main lobby and atrium do not have ac it can get pretty warm. Also both our rooms leaked ridiculously from the balconies when it rain and we had to make sure no one hurt themselves while trying to soak it up with water. Other than that great time-I would visit again!
