If you´ve dreamed of a relaxing spot where all the beauty of the Cancun-Caribbean waters coexist with a natural/ecologial mangrove swamp and a river end at the ocean within an architectural piece-of- the-art hotel where rooms are a delight, food all around is exquisite and service is , as they say there " from my heart", you´ve found the place. This fabulous hotel is brand new as it opened just in March 2013. Proudly owned by a mexican group it has all a demanding traveler is looking for. Not a regular busy and noisy hotel at a beach, Nizuc is an expensive, luxury resort and spa where relaxation and pampering are the goals. Location is quite private and no one but guests are around the place, no neighbor hotels are close by. There are mainly 2 kind of rooms: garden suites and rooms at the 4 short buildings with mangrove/sea view. Transportation to central building where lobby and restaurants are is provided on golf carts which are always available at no more than one minute waiting time. Each building has its own butler for whatever ( literally whatever) you need. Rooms are big and spacious with a terrace that has its own small black rock pool (not jacuzzi) where you can enjoy the amazing views at total privacy. The bathroom is spectacular with 2 closets, the shower, double sinks and a vintage bathtub from where you can watch your bathroom tv.Lots of flushy towels and bathrubs are at your service. Amenities from L`Occitane, include it all. Of course you can count on digital telephones, a Nespresso machine and a mini bar at the room . Beds are great with exquisite duvet and bed sheets facing at the glass doors to the terrace so you can wake up, turn up your electric curtains and begin your day watching the view. Needless to say you have a last generation TV and an Ipod speaker . Spa is in a separate building together with the gym. Not only the facilities are out of this world but the therapists are of the best I´ve ever tried, truly. These facilities include sauna, steam room, ice room, cold water shower, water therapy pool, heated deck chairs, relax porche ( tea , biscuits and fruits available). On the outside you have a spa swimming pool and a garden surrounded by the massage rooms. At the main buiding you have a shocking lobby entrance where zen decor speaks of relaxation by itself. Several open bars , terraces and restaurants are found here as well as some other rooms. At this point you are steps away from one of the 2 private pool and beaches surrounded by the original vegetation of the spot.A little walk further you get to the adult only pool/beach where a restaurant and a gorgeous bar await for you ( look for my attached photos). Talking about food, there are 4 specialty ones: peruvian, mexican, grill and indochina´s. Food is also served at the beach or the pool in case you don´t want to leave your spot at this wonderful beach. For breakfast you have one of the best buffets you´ve ever been to, I can assure. Besides it is undeniable thet mexican breakfast buffets are the best in the whole planet ( for the variety and flavor) this one in particualr has everything you can think of: organic and diverse juices, fruit, pastries, waffles, crepes, hot cakes, omelettes, mexican cuisine dishes, etc etc etc . Another specialties of the Nizuc restaurants are "ceviches" of all kind: octopus, shrimp, fish.... But story does not end here. You have the privilege to have a perfectly kept small reef that you find just at the end of a dock where you can snorkel and watch beautiful corals and as many fish as you like. Water is not deep so , for the preservation of the place and your own safety, it is mandatory to snorkel at this point with vest and fins ( provided for free). Yes, sounds like this is an expensive hotel and it is but it´s definetively worth it.

1. WATER - is around $10 per IL bottle at the resort. You are furnished with one 1L bottle per day in your room. There are smaller bottles for free in the gym's workout area, which is located down at the spa. We purchased a 24 pack of water here in the US, put it in a small duffle, padded it, and checked it as our one piece of luggage on our flight. Perfect. It lasted 5 days and we saved loads of money. Otherwise, have your taxi driver stop at an "OXXO" quick stop on the way from the airport and buy your water there. It's more expensive there than in the US, but less than the resort. Also, soft drinks are about $5 each, so grab a few of those while you're stopping for water.
2. TAXIS - are perfectly fine to take to and from the airport, and MUCH less expensive than the resort car and driver. Taxi is $30 - resort car is $80. Now, at the airport, be sure you use a "taxi", not a "service". There's a difference in price. Also, if you don't mind sharing with a few more stops, there are "shuttles" from the airport that would cost you around $15.
3. BREAKFAST - is 450 pesos, about $35 USD. It is a very large and elegant buffet and well worth the cost. It includes bloody mary's and mimosas.
4. ALCOHOL - it is about $5.50 for each beer at resort. You could stop and get your beer from the same "oxxo" store where you get your water and keep it in your mini fridge in your room. These particular stores also sell liquor. Wine and drinks are VERY expensive, so if you can bring your own, do. Also, purchase a few snacks at these stores or pack a few in your luggage
5. TEA/LEMONS - if you are a tea drinker, bring your own tea bags. There is a nespresso coffee machine in each room, but no tea bags. Also, bring your own lemons as Mexico only has limes.
6. SHOPPING - we asked about a good place to shop and buy silver. The resort recommended "La Isla". Warning - it is an outdoor mall with all Amercian chain stores. Not exactly what we were hoping for. Be specific!
7. DINING - the resort has several fine dining options. No need to eat elsewhere unless you want to experience "the strip". Do check out the Cigar Bar on the Nizuc resort. It is designed in Cuban style and has a lovely outdoor area where you can sip fine rum and smoke a cuban cigar. Amazing.
8. ROOMS - see my specific room tip below.
No need to add to the other reviews. it is an OUTSTANDING resort.

Room Tip: Ocean suits in buildings 2 and 4 have the most unobstructed and less populated views of the ocean, y...

I have been remiss about writing this review. I had the pleasure of booking a sales meeting of 175 attendees at Nizuc January 8-13. From our International Sales Manager, Tulio Baruch, our meeting coordinator Lorena, to Hector the Protector at La Punta, and the front desk staff, our meeting was a total success.

The lobby is beautiful, lots of wood and water. As soon as you enter, the head concierge, Francisco greets you and walks you to check in. Your butler escorts you around the main area of resort, and to your room where you are met with your luggage. We had the privilege of staying in a Garden Pavilion Pool Villa, amazing! One of the nicest suites I've ever stayed. Surround sound stereo system in our outdoor and indoor area. Perfect for entertaining guests in the outdoor living area looking over your private pool. Aldo, our butler, had fresh cream sent to our room, in our refrigerator at every turndown service to use for our Nespresso's in the morning.

The staff at NIZUC is the best part, they will do anything to make your stay more enjoyable. Every event we held, was staffed incredibly. The meeting rooms are gorgeous and magnificent. We had a welcome cocktail party at the A-Kan bar, which is beautiful. As soon as your glass was empty a waiter was there with a refill. The hors d'oeuvres were amazing, and the group has many standards when holding meetings. They had to have serving platters that were a certain size and color. Every item must be bite sized, no skewers at any function. The staff must wear black uniforms. NIZUC came through on every parameter. We then split up to different restaurants, again fully staffed, excellent service. We had a buffet dinner and DJ at LaPunta Grill and beach. Another wonderful event. One Buffet on the deck at La Punta and another on the beach, no lines! The next night we had a buffet dinner at Terra Nostra which is located near the convention center and residence buildings. All of our guests stayed in this area, so it would be convenient for them to attend the meetings. Golf carts were readily available to take guests back and forth for breakfast and lunch. Upstairs in Terra Nostra is another lounge where we had a DJ and dancing after dinner. Again, excellent service. Ramona is their upscale Mexican restaurant, closing dinner buffet held there, excellent.

The customers and employees of Gucci that attended from all over the America's, Europe and Australia were thrilled with the resort. The only complaints we had was a delay with room service for breakfast on days of meetings. We did the Endless Indulgence package, so everything would be included, and we wanted everyone to take advantage of the great breakfast buffet, so they didn't do a continental breakfast in convention center. That was a mistake, guests didn't want to take golf carts back and forth to Cafe LaPLaya near main lobby, and most ordered room service. I don't think the resort was prepared for that and the waits were endless. We stayed an extra 2 nights after everyone left and did not have any issues with room service.

The bathroom lighting in every room type is extremely dim, and the makeup mirrors were installed before they realized they didn't work. It was rainy and cooler when we arrived, and a lot of guests were upgraded to rooms with private pools. Their private pools are not heated, therefore they could not be used. That was unfortunate. The ESPA spa was incredible, best hydrotherapy session I've ever experienced.

The production company they work with also did an amazing job. Maritur was the DMC we used, and they were exceptional. They are the only company in Cancun that has a VIP service where they meet you as you exit plane, walk you through a private area customs, to your waiting Escalade. No lines! There was staff at the hotel to organize the arrivals and departures, they immediately notified me at each arrival, who arrived, who was delayed, etc.

All in all, the meeting was a huge success. If anyone has any questions at all, please call or email me. I am hereby referred to as Queen of Nizuc. I literally teared up when we had to leave. I can't wait to return...

Room Tip: Ocean Suites have a direct view of ocean and main pool area, adults only. Beautiful suites and terr...

Nizuc is a fabulous Zen/organic/earth-style hotel. My fiancé and I loved the interior, exterior, décor, food, everything. This is also the place where my fiancé proposed me so it was an excellent stay I will never forget.

The resort is very spacious which doesn't mean it's a 30floor skyscraper. This is dispersed complex of buildings which creates peaceful lovely environment. We loved the privacy it gave you. You may think there is a lot of walking, well there is but only if you insist. Once you start a golf chart with a driver immediately shows up and drive you wherever your destination in the resort is. All rooms in this resort have ocean views which is amazing plus some of them have the private pool at the balcony. I loved the bathroom design, all wood and rock and very spacious. There was a bathtub and a shower. They use l’Occitane cosmetics. We loved our king size bed and linens. Twice a day room service keep this room very tidy throughout your stay. Every afternoon they leave chocolates:) Upon arrival you get chocolates and some local sweets. Very nice:) oh and a drink upon check in. You also get you own butler.

Food = heaven. We loved everything. We were on Endless Indulgence plan and the best part is that this not regular all inclusive buffet but a la carte restaurants. There are menu selections that requires extra $$ but most of them are included. Wine is limited for EI, but there is normal bottle service with a few options to choose. There are 4 dinner restaurants, we loved all of them. Some are open for lunch plus there is a lunch only Peruvian restaurant that serves the seafood ceviche that is absolutely to die for. Breakfast buffet (the only buffet at Nizuc) was awesome too. Lots of choices, we were unable to try it all within a week. Ask your server for red juice (beets, carrots, spirulina and apple I think) – healthy delicious!

Beach and pools are very clean and beautifully maintained. In the night there is very romantic atmosphere with very subtle lighting including torches outside and inside, we loved it. During the day when you pick your sunbed somebody is right there placing the towels for you on your bed faster than you realize you need them. Servers and bartenders are super friendly and helpful too. Perfect relax. Paddle boards and snorkeling equipment – that was the only water activities you could do, fine for us. We didn’t plan on very active time there:) There is a small, decent reef near hotel pier.

I'm giving 5star however there was an issue last day when they messed something up with Expedia and wanted to change our plan and charge us. That shouldn't have happened in such a resort. Although the magic was gone for some time we remember only how great time we had there. We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Nizuc (except for these few last day) and it is a paradise on earth. We would definitely recommend Nizuc to anyone.
Wonderful resort - go there! This is really how they call it: endless indulgence.

Room Tip: I think any room will be superb, maybe these with private pools would be my recommendation.

Asiaphiles will recognize more an than a few touches like the fishing nets recast as bar lamps in the waterside restaurants but overall this ultra stylish property embodies what is beautiful and elegant about Mexico, old and new. Notice the stylish use of old woods, and the rough, raw stone throughout too.

Your biggest challenge may be choosing between the ultra privacy of a villa or a master suite with its sublime infinity pool and copious lounging space. Penthouses are swanky too with giant day beds overlooking the cerulean sea

Another conundrum will be where to dine among all the delicious outlets on the 29 acre property. At Terra Nostra, the chef comes direct from Vicenze, as does his homemade pasta. After dinner, climb up to the rooftop deck lounge for a nightcap. Come morning, don't miss the generous breakfast spread.

There is simply no reason to leave this property, but when you must go, the Cancun Airport is conveniently about 10 minutes drive.

Room Tip: Master Suites are both private and offer exquisite ocean views.

Wonderful pool, clean rooms, Nespresso in the room and your own butler. The beach is beautiful. The service was stellar. The only draw back is the food quality is not that great. It is too weird and a lot of the dishes are sweet. It is also expensive as others have mentioned.

It is a difficult decision between going back here vs. the Ritz. They both have lots of pro's and con's and the main benefit of the Ritz is that the food is better.

I did not know that they have an all indulgence plan and had I known that we would have been on that plan, it makes more sense and it makes it like an all you eat/drink.

On our trip most of the people there were on business functions and there were not a lot of families with small children, but perhaps this is because we went at the end of April.

The one thing we were not happy with was the hotel airport pick up and drop off service. The driver was late to pick us and we had to call him and wait 30 min after our arrival and then on pick up he was late by 15 min. Considering that we opted to have the hotel's private car and driver you would think that they would take better care of us!

Room Tip: Get the all indulgence plan by contacting the hotel directly.
