“Fantastic trip”
Reviewed 30 August 2014

Fantastic trip me my husband and 8 year old son loved it. They brought you drinks round, did adult games, kids games and the food was great. Would definitely recommend this trip.

“Booze cruise BEWARE!”
Reviewed 30 August 2014 via mobile

We were mis sold this trip by our Thomson rep Ami Knight at the Riu Palace Mexico. After spending an hour on a coach we arrived expecting a "realistic pirate experience" apparently " so authentic previous guests had believed the fights to be real that 25 year old men were reduced to tears!"
Hmmm, I doubt this was true. The "show" is NOT suitable for children. The sexual innuendo jokes from Tattoo the cast member with dwarfism I found particularly offensive as he rubbed himself in a sexual way in front of the children. There was a short pirate show which involved cheesy jokes and an intro to the crew and instructions to tip your waiter! Followed by a tepid buffet ( very poor food, chewy steaks, cold jacket potatoes , vegetarians had no options as pasta contained meat) on using restrooms staff held hands out for tips! Then back to the crowded deck to watch a further show consisting of drinking games, dancing, flashing lights, all in front of scared looking children. They were removed for a short period to do a treasure hunt but my daughter was too scared to walk through the crowds. Towards the end ( by which time some adults were so drunk I even saw a fight was going to start between two guys hardly family stuff!) a pirate fight took place when another booze cruiser pulled alongside. Guests were told to scream and shout "ogi ogi ogi oi oi oi! " etc. terrible. Only suitable for families that like their children to see mindless idiots getting drunk and pretending they are on a booze cruise in Benidorm. The constant begging for tips from staff was an insult. Thomson should tell guests what this trip really is, not sell it as a fabulous family excursion.

“Fun filled & Full on.....”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

Our Thomson representative really sold this to us - we were quite excited, until other families who had visited before our sailing advised that it was too much 'Ibiza' and too late for little ones. This lowered our expetations, but we need not have worried as it was full on entertainment and the food of steak & lobster buffet was really good. Our 10 year old loved it. The key to a successful evening is to ensure you get booked onto an english only speaking boat (Thomson guaranteed this as part of their excursion package) and also don't board first - hold back as the first to board get seated on the main deck and this gets very crowded and hot. The main show takes part here but if you go on the top deck you can still see (there are vidoe screens for those not at the front) but you get fed first and its less rowdy if you have younger children. It is a late night and the main deck turns into a nice dance floor, which we enjoyed and had a fantastic evening - lots of humour, with Captain Jack Sparrow and his crew working extremely hard and they are very good at what they do. PS: don't forget to tip your designated crew member!!
