My girlfriend and I were sick of the typical street Mexican food style restaurants around Cancun so we decided to do something a little more up-scale. Our concierge at the hotel was able to call and make us a reservation (the place was pretty empty at the time so probably was unnecessary except he wanted commission which was fine). Was a 150 peso cab ride from the InterContinental El Presidente. We were seated promptly outside with the lagoon view at sunset. great ambiance and environment to relax! The service was very attentive and available. We were given complimentary variety of bread (which were out of this world!) and fish empanadas (also very delicious). We ordered a bottle of white wine (local Mexican, simple and good) and green Lobster ceviche (small portion but tasty and not spicy as they advertised). Then came the main course of the seafood platter for 2 off the special menu which included 2 of each lightly fried soft shell crab, grilled fish, grilled lobster, shrimp, baked oyster. Everything was delicious although a little heavy on the butter. We were hoping to have a glimpse of the resident crocodile and we were very lucky that he came for a visit! it was amazing to see a creature that size up close. They also gave us complimentary chocolate cake as we were celebrating a special occasion. Our total bill was $140 which would have been much more in NYC where we are from!
