Amazing place. Definitely recommend visiting if you're in the area. It was an indescribable feeling I had when I was floating on my back looking up into the beautiful blue sky and the greenary around the opening of the xenote. We went there as a combination tour with Chichen Itza. Got there around 11:45am with All the other tourist buses. Luckily we were there first so it was not as crowded at first. Definitely got much worse later. I'd say drive yourself and get there well before noon. Highly recommend either bringing or renting a life jacket. They were only $2 to rent. The xenote is very deep, 50meters, and it's very cold fresh water of course. So it's hard to swim for a long period of time without getting completely exhausted. There are some ropes and a couple of balloons floating but everyone else is trying to grab onto them. My husband didn't get a jacket and was having a real hard time swimming, and he's a good swimmer. Honestly, I kept thinking if anyone were to go under, no one would notice in the crowds and the commotion. So don't be stubborn. GET THE JACKET! You can also rent a locker for $2. There are large bathrooms and changing rooms. You have to rinse off before going in to protect the environment from chemicals. This is great but not sure how a quick rinse with cold water in a public place and with your swim suit on is going to clean off lotions and sunscreens. The food was terrible.

This cenote was as beautiful as pictured and the water was refreshing. Upon the suggestion of a local person we went early in the morning when there were hardly any other tourists. This decision made it a perfect more peaceful experience and we were able to jump in and get out at our leisure without having to worry about interference with other people. The changing and locker areas were very clean.

Lovely cenote, about 50 meters deep so don’t drop anything in it!! Great stop off after the heat of chichen itza. Lots of steps going down to it and can be slippery. Wear water shoes if you have them. You can hire life jacket/floating aid type if you’re not confident to take the plunge without one. There’s also a rope underwater you can hold on to if you don’t fancy swimming around. Take snorkel and mask if you have one to see the fish swimming by (don’t drop the snorkel 🙄) You can jump into the water off a high ledge, or use the steps. Great fun if you love the water.

No one should miss this spectacular wonder of earth. I will never forget it. Amazing sight for senses. My little daughter of 7 jumped in with her dad and couldnt make her get out of water. So relaxing no matter how many people were around. Beautiful just beautiful!
