Stayed for two nights during the fall of 1967. You too will always remember your stay at Hacienda Chichen. Nighttime takes you back to the old days of this place...
The peacefulness and the evening stars are most calming while you consider the history of Chichen.

My husband, 3 year old daughter and I had a fantastic time at this beautiful old colonial hotel. The hotel and its surroundings were stunning - alive with many different bird species, butterflies and other wildlife. I enjoyed many walks around the beautiful grounds, which include a lovely swimming pool, cave, chapel and farm. The service was excellent and the food delicious. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

If you are traveling by car/not on a tour, and you want a hotel close to the UNESCO world heritage site of Chichen Itza, the Hotel Hacienda Chichen Itza, is for you. Beautiful grounds, several secluded swimming pools, fine restaurants AND right at one of the entrances to this world famous Maya ruin. Viisit the ruins for an hour or two, walk back to the hotel for lunch and a swim, walk back to the ruins in the mid afternoon, when most of the tour busses have departed. Paradise

Room Tip: they are all good

Like a reviewer below, Im glad i booked here instead of others in the area. This felt like a more up market option. I really enjoyed staying here. it is very close to the ruins and the property is very pretty. The gardens are lush and I really liked the pool. The staff were friendly , and whilst this is no doubt a tourist oriented hotel , and there are more intimate haciendas an hours drive away , I would no doubt say this is the place to stay if you want a hotel in the area.

One minor suggestion , I am a vegetarian and felt that there were not enough good choices on the menu, I cant really review the food being a veggie, but what i did eat didnt justify the hotels boast of their amazing cuisine, having said that , other guests seemed to enjoy their meals.

A lovely old building is what greats you when you leave the heat of the road and go up the shady tree-lined drive. This main building is where you eat (outside on the veranda lookng over the garden) and where you can sip you cocktails on the other porch. I loved it here. It was relaxed, the pool was peaceful (apart from when a tour group came, but this was short-lived) and the rooms fabulous (even our standard one was very comfortable for 2 adults and 2 kids). Our room was very clean and very well presented.

We visited the ruins twice in one day, at 8am and later when it started to cool down again and we were really glad to have the pool to swim in when it was very hot in the middle of the day. This worked well with kids who started to fade when looking at ruins in the heat.

The food was really good and the staff very friendly. And the cocktails went down a treat.

We say lots of birds, particularly on our early morning stroll in the nature area and also in the main grounds - further away from the main house.

It is a lovely hacienda, relaxed, not remotely pompous, reasonably priced, with a good attitude towards the local community (as you will see on their website). I recommend it highly as a place to stay right by the ruins but also as a place to just relax for a few days.
