“Authentic & beautiful hacienda”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

Pros - the grounds are fantastic - so lush and beautiful. The restaurant and service were impeccable. Their sopa de limon was fantastic. To be within walking distance of the pyramids was lovely. It was so nice to get to the pyramids early to beat the crowds and the heat. The hacienda is so peaceful without TV's and phones, just lovely. I would consider getting married at the hacienda as it's a little slice of heaven. Tip - there's another hotel/bar closer to the entrance to Chichen, where we had lunch at the bar after seeing the ruins. Casual and we recommend this. My only con was my experience at the spa. While I did a service and it was lovely, the pricing structure didn't translate. The service was a treat, however, you get the impression from the website there is more of a spa. Next time I would pass on this.

We have just returned from our stay at the Hacienda Chichen, and everything was perfect. Every morning they brought breakfast to our cottage so we could eat and listen to the birds. We jogged along the road leading to the hotel every morning and could see horses, iguanas, birds, butterflies, etc. There is a nice on site restaurant and bar, and you can walk to the ruins. The staff was very attentive and polite. Hopefully, we can return one day and stay again! There is no internet or television, so this is a perfect place to get away from it all.

If you're looking for luxury then I recommend this place! We stayed in a cute little cottage complete with a patio area with hammock. Located only a few minutes walk to the ruins this place is prefect. The only negative thing I can say about it was when a waiter called Miguel demanded a bigger tip when we called room service which left a bit of a nasty taste but other than that it was a really good stay.

Mi wife and I just spent 2 nights at this hotel and we had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. We live in Cancun and decided to take the Harley and head to this hotel, about 3 hours from Cancun. We arrived in the evening around 9pm and the staff were waiting for us. I have to say that if you are looking for a hotel with all the amenities, this might not be for you. No phone in your room, no TV, no room service. The Hacienda is a 16th century treasure with immaculate gardens and grounds with a beautiful pool area. The food was excellent and with many dishes and options for a small boutique hotel. The ruins of Chichen Itza are just a 5 minute walk from the hotel and you enter the ruins away from the tourist crowd. If you are looking to get away from your busy life and schedules, pick this place. We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed slowing time down and taking in the spectacular scenery and relaxing in the land of the Maya's.

Hacienda Chichen Itza is one of the nicest hotels we've enjoyed in Mexico. The main building with lounge and dining room is an historic hacienda 400+ years old. The rooms are in duplexes or free-standing cottages originally built for archeologists working at nearby ruins. Excellent food. Go to the ruins as early as possible and avoid Crouse from Cancun as well as heat of the day.

We accidentally booked a room with a full bed but the staff was nice enough to upgrade us to a queen. The cabin was basic but very comfortable and the flowers provided a nice touch. There was a hammock on the porch as well as comfortable rocking chairs. The main house of the hotel is a Hacienda built by the Spanish in 1523 and it is wonderfully preserved, perfect for anyone looking for a unique experience. There is also a small restored colonial chapel on the grounds that adds to the romance. The service was top-notch: staffers made us feel comfortable and pampered, accommodating our requests and providing reliable information. And the food at the restaurant was absolutely wonderful and inventive -- and that's saying a lot, given that Yucatan food is already famous for its distinctiveness. I recommend the cold cucumber soup with goat cheese and the pork dishes. We were happy to learn of the hotel's respect for Maya culture, local hiring policies, and green practices, including that much of the produce used in the kitchen is grown on the grounds. A definite plus. And of course, it was terrific and unforgettable to be able to get in to see Chichen Itza before the tour buses arrived. We didn't sample the other amenities offered but look forward to doing so in a future visit.

Room Tip: The hotel's chef conducts Yucatecan cooking classes, something we'll make a point of enjoyin...

You woudn't be suprised if Don Diego meets you in the honderds years old garden. In this garden a dozen small bungalows are grouped by two or tree. You'll enjoy to admire the garden, the birds, the rest sitted on your terras or setteld in your hangmat. The kithchen offers you very tastfull dishes, mostly prepared with herbs out of the own garden. You also can enjoy a spatreatement wich are rather expensive. The hacienda is authentique and at five minuts walk of the Chichen Itza site.
