An excellent base for exploring the ruins which are a five minute walk along a shaded garden path. Very comfortable bungalow accommodation. Great for amateur bird watchers. We would not opt for the Mayan special at dinner again but the rest of the food was reasonable and the Sopa de Lima was excellent.

We appreciate your valuable comments about your stay. Yes, the hotel is a perfect base for nature lovers and for those who wish to observe many birds! Please come back soon to spend a relaxing time again, perhaps this time you can enjoy our wonderful spa treatments that you will absolutely adore! By the way, thank you for your compliment about our Lime Soup, this traditional soup can be served in many restaurants of the Yucatan but, only a few places knows how to cook this recipe with the authentic aroma and flavour. In your next visit, please try our variety of Mayan dishes!

With our thanks and best wishes,
The Hacienda Chichen Resort and Yaxkin Spa

The hotel is one of two in the immediate vicinity of Chichen Itza.It is small, almost boutique in style and is set out as a Hacienda with small groups of cottages containing the rooms whilst the main building houses the reception and dining area. Rooms vary in size, with some having simple living areas. Fridges and Coffee making equipment is supplied. The bedding is reasonable, air conditioning is good and they have efficient showers. The swimming pool is first rate with loungers and towels supplied. There is an onsite shop. The restaurant, altho pricey, serves quality dishes in an excellent surrounding. ( It should be noted that you always have the option of a hundred metre stroll to the other hotel to eat more cheaply. ) Service is very good. Breakfast is cooked to order with a fruit dish proceeding eggs. The grounds are superb. With its proximity to the Mayan ruins, two nights here are well spent

Room Tip: Any but the suites offer a cool escape from the heat

We stayed at the hacienda while visiting the Mayan city. The hacienda was literally built from the stones from the city. If you look around closely you can see stunning carvings in the main building of the hacienda. The rooms are little "duplex" villas that offer the right degree of privacy and isolation. The food at the restaurant was ok, not great.

If you have some time and are a little adventurous get off the beaten track and "discover" the old church and the Mayan cave. The Mayan cave is directly behind the hacienda. There is a trail but it is not marked. The church can be reached through the parking lot.

We stayed here with our 4 month old baby and were a little concerned about the 'boutique' description (most boutique hotels are not very family friendly). However despite being very quiet and tranquil, we did not feel out of place. The rooms have very thick walls so our daughter could make as much noise as she liked in the room without disturbing other guests but the communal area are all a little hushed so you might not want to spend too much time there when your child is being very vocal. Staff were very helpful and considerate.

The hotel offers a quiet ambience which is suitable for couples but it's also so inviting for a family trip. Children are more than welcome here and they will have much fun seeing birds and exploring our gardens. The proximity of our hotel to the ruins makes it so convenient too. In the future please feel free to contact our Reservation center to learn more about the suggested activities that you can all do while staying in our lovely hacienda.

With sincere thanks,

This hotel has lovely grounds with a shady pool and is only a few minutes from the ruins which officially open at 8am (although I was told if you wake earlier you can just walk in). Our cabin was nicely but simply furnished. The restaurant food was not bad but not exciting. If you want to eat on the terrace you need to get in quick.

We stayed 2 nights March 7-8 and wished we had stayed longer. A grand setting with a historic conquistador past and a history as a ranch and sisal plantation. Towering trees and lush vegetation create a tranquil scene, especially at night with only a few paths lit up and the stars bright in a dark sky. Our room was very comfortable with fresh flowers each morning. The pool was large , refreshing and very clean. We ate breakfasts (lots of variety, fruit, eggs, etc), lunch and a great dinner on the patio and really enjoyed the friendly musicians who taught my brother the chords to a song. A short stroll to Chichen Izta allowed us to experience it before the crowds. The staff was great, friendly and helpful. Loved the mango margaritas, too. Plan on going back there next year!

I was travelling with a group around Mexico. It has a lovely pool area and the food - although not brilliant - was better than most of my other eating experiences. It has lovely grounds If you arrive early remember to book a table on the terrace for dinner as it fills up very quickly. The rooms are OK. Generally service is not bad. and there is some English spoken here.

This was the last hotel of my visit. On the whole I found many of the hotels were below standard - mainly because of untrained staff. The buildings were wonderful and one had high expectations but on so many occasions felt let down. English is difficult to find and in Merida I visited two tourist offices where English was not spoken. I find this surprising as so many Americans and Canadians visit. This makes travelling independently difficult because the majority of museums and galleries have no signage in English or audio. Most restaurants do not have menus in English. I guess we have been spoilt.

Room Tip: As for a room away from the main building as it can be noisy at night with late revellers.

Thank you for your comments and for letting us know that we were your second favourite hotel in your entire trip to Mexico. We invite you to visit our website to learn more about our sustainable practices and social work. The Hacienda Chichen employ Mayan people in order to benefit the rural communities, that explains why a portion of our staff have some difficulty to speak fluent English however they try their best to communicate with our guests not only in English but also introduce their native language so guests can have an authentic ambience filled with the desire to serve and share our Maya World. If you plan to visit the Yucatan Peninsula once again, we suggest you to take the opportunity to be embraced by this genuine feeling.

Gratefully,
The Hacienda Chichen Resort and Yaxkin Spa
