We were looking for a Hotel for out visit to Chichenitza. Okaan was an amazing experience from the moment we just got there. It is a very relaxing place and you will not regret to stay there if you are looking for something unique. We loved their pool!

Hotel Oka'an is an oasis int he midst of the Mayan jungle. I was nervous about what I got us into as we followed signs up a mile and a half dirt road, but the Hotel is amazing. It is a little oasis carved out the Mayan jungle. The bird sounds and sights were breath-taking. We watched both sunset and sunrise from the top floor observation area in speechless awe. (Also spent over an hour up there staring at the nights stars and counting shooting stars. The hotel was virtually empty in the off-season, but the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The rooms were immaculate, the service first class. The restaurant is friendly and the food high quality. floating in the pool listening to the wildlife all around was a delight. The Hotel is reasonably priced and very close to Chitzen Itzah. It is the perfect place for an overnight stop in order to get to the ruins before the crowds. What a find!!!!

Room Tip: The standard king rooms are large and in a five story complex with an observation floor on top. The...

Great location to visit the ruins early the next morning avoiding the crowds. The room was nice, clean, and very quiet. The eco-friendly concept seems a bit of a joke as they have plastic table mats and plant pots. The SPA was closed due to shortage of staff. UNACCEPTABLE. 1.5 km of NOT paved road from the main street. The staff seem demotivated and lazy. I found the envelope left in the room with the writing "TIPS" VERY inappropriate. Nevertheless all together it was a pleasant short stay.

Room Tip: Ask if the spa is in service. Make sure you rent a 4by4 car as the road is not paved. Do not give ti...

On March 20, 2013 we spent the night at Hotel Oka'an with the idea of going to Chichen Itza for spring equinox. We ended up changing our plans and spent the time at the hotel until 12 noon checkout time enjoying the lovely swimming pool and walking around the attractive grounds. My four yr old grandson was with us along with his mom and we all enjoyed the stay. While the place wasn't as fancy as the resort in Cancun, we all agreed that we liked it better as it was very comfortable, peaceful and not crowded. We wished that we had made reservations for 2 nights instead of just one! The restaurant was very good, too. The selections were limited, but everything we had was delicious and all the staff was very nice. Would stay there again!

The only excellent thing about this hotel was the price. The reception guy was complety disrespectful, there's no Internet in the rooms, no television. I can understand that is a place for meditation and stuff but it was a little too much for us. The rooms are beautiful (a little bit on the small side but it was ok) I don't think I would come back to this place again

The location of the hotel is excellent for visiting Chichen Itza. We were able to arrange an early breakfast and get there when they opened the gates (you should definitely do the same).
On arrival we were shown to our bungalow (actually a two level, adorable, circular house split into two apartments) and had the restaurant and pool pointed out. That's pretty much the only information we got. It was a little unusual for the hotel to have zero information on how best to enjoy the nearby attractions but we got some pointers from our excellent waiter, Luis, at dinner.
Valladolid is a short drive away and Chichen Itza is virtually across the road.

Room Tip: Bungalows farthest from the restaurant were completely silent and secluded.

We truly enjoyed our stay. A great peaceful spot, across from the cenote. Nice staff, good drinks, lovely breakfast. They need to work on their dinner food though. A gorgeous restaurant with below moderate food.
