This hotel has a really nice location. A few steps form Chichen Itza park.
The staff is polite, most of them English speakers.
The service were amazing.
The food could be a bit better.
I took a room with view. It was cool wake up with a Mayan Observatorium in the landscape.

The best thing about this hotel is probably its location - you're within a few minutes walking distance from the Pyramid of Kukulkan. We didn't actually stay there, we stopped at the restaurant to eat as a part of a tour. The food was okay - nothing memorable. The restaurant was very crowded. It was hot and there were flies everywhere. Dancers came and did a dance in the middle of the restaurant with bottles on their heads. They then stood at the door with an up-turned hat and a sign that said "TIPS". Enough said.

The property is perfectly situated next to the ruins. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. However, the food was not good. The staff tried to fix this but still a bad experience with several meals. Unfortunately, there is no other place to eat nearby. The room was clean but in rough shape - toilet tank leaked. We also lost power 3 times, including one full night without power / air conditioning. Both their planetarium and deep pool were very nice. The guide they arranged for us was top-notch.

Thanks for your review. I am concerned about the fact you did not enjoy our food. I will personally review the issue with some additional help from you, which I really would appreciate; Please write me a note with details. Power in Mexico is supplied by our government. Not only did we loose power 3 times, as you mentioned, but our generator gave in... just as we were installing 3 new generators to cover all areas of the hotel. Your comments make me feel better about this expense, which I did not consider to be a priority investment but management insisted and here they are.

I hope you give us the opportunity to pamper you in the future. Thank you for your help!
Safe travels!!

The hotel and grounds are beautiful(if a bit dilapidated). It was awesome walking to the ruins of Chichen Itza first thing in the morning. There is a small army sized staff waiting on you hand and foot...But for the prices they charge I expected a little more(quality control). Mayaland is the epitome of a tourist trap. Rooms are at a premium...but the air conditioner kept breaking down and you could not take a shower with out getting an inch of water on the floor because the shower curtain did not fit correctly. wifi only works in the lobby where there are only very uncomfortable chairs. Food is very expensive($20-50 per dinner plate, $15-30 per appetizer, and a $17 lunch buffet....but the food overall was disappointing. I paid $11 for a tomato and mozzarella cheese appetizer but the tomato was under ripe and mealy. My filet ($27) was bland and grisly. $11 for huevos rancheros breakfast and the eggs were bland and watery. If I owned a restaurant, much less an expensive one, I would not allow food like this to leave my kitchen. You are better off saving hundreds of dollars and staying in the Best Western Chichen Itza and taking a 5min cab ride to the ruins. You would get to the ruins just as early. I would not stay here again.

Your comment offends all of us. Mayaland is everything but a "tourist trap". Your quotes on our menu pricing fail to mention they include 16% sales tax. You are using a wrong exchange rate (our prices are quoted in pesos). You give us a rating of 4 out of 5 for location... and we are INSIDE the archeological zone in Chichen Itza... any closer and you would be sleeping inside a temple !
All in all.... a very sad account ... which just makes us all wonder......

We went in May, off-season. No crowds (near empty) the way I like my vacations. Grounds were beautiful. First time I have had a iguana come up for a breakfast handout. The food was good, liked the buffet (generally don't do buffets), The woman cooking tortillas on a stone over wood burning fire is what brought us, taco bar meats very tasty. Skipped dinner that night.

Perfect for getting up early to see ruins, the open air shops not set up yet so you aren't barraged with people wanting to sell you something. When tourist buses come head back. Cenote not far away, again, beat the buses.
Need a burger, Hotel Delores Alba across street from Cenoted. Quite tasty, cerveza cold.

Room Tip: The lodges away from main hotel. Had pool in front and very quiet. Mosquito nets over beds, didn t h...

I couldn't even imagine a better home base from which to explore the ruins of Chichen-Itza. The staff was wonderfully accommodating and the facilities were wonderful. Is it the Waldorf Astoria, no, but for the price it was an over the top enchanting experience. The antique woodwork and wonderful grounds aren't things that go into new hotels, this felt like a hotel that might have been frequented by Dr. Henry Jones Jr. Myself, I was able to overlook any cracks as adding to the authenticity of this superbly located hotel. Possibly the best part is that you can be in the park at opening, having just rolled out of bed. We were in and out of the park before most of the Cancun crowd even disembarked their buses. For a photographer, this is everything. Think you've experienced Chichen Itza? Try it without thousands of tourists.

Ate two meals in their restaurants, while not free, thought we got good value for our money.

The Staff and location is wonderful. The food is way over priced. The Facility is old. Many broken lights in the hotel, cement was cracked. At night only one restaurant was open and had very few options with a very high price.

Sad to learn we did not meet your expectations regarding our prices. We feel, as other patrons have expressed, that we are justly priced. We are often told we are a fantastic value... and we agree. Where can you buy an all you care to have buffet with fish, beef, pork, chicken and a great variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, salads, hand made tortillas and grilled to order Yucatecan specialties, tacos, desserts etc. etc. for under $15.50 (including a 16% sales tax...) ?
