“They Wowed ME!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2014

The Owner greeted us, welcomed us, was sincerely happy to see us and that was just the beginning. The cold drinks, the delicious appetizers, the fresh made guacamole, the cerviche, the awesome beans and cheese, the quesidillas, and that was the beginning, Then came our piping hot, cooked to perfection, shrimp on a wire, catch of the day and grouper. Lets not forget the Cuban prepared steak and beef burritos. YUM-MO, Each and every bite was tremendous! And the owner, hugging us, thank you for coming, please come again, we are grateful. WOW, such a wonderful meal and experience.

“Appearance is not what I thought”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014

We were fortunate enough to be taken to this out of the way restaurant by our dive Instructor and dive shop owner, and glad we did. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner Ray? who smiled throughout our dinner and was so hospitable it was like old friends. Our taste buds were satisfied with Garlic Grouper and Yucatan style chicken all loaded with flavor that I crave now back at home! A homestyle restaurant that I will return to on my next visit to Cozumel.

“So fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2014 via mobile

This restaurant was a highlight of my trip to Cozumel. I was at a resort for a week in April 2014 (just got home). I went with three friends based on its high review here on Trip Advisor, and it certainly lived up to its reputation. The food was amazing - the best guacamole I have ever tasted, and everything else was fantastic! The service was impeccable - so attentive and friendly. They had a wide menu which would cater to those who like more American ideas of Mexican food (tacos, fajitas) as well as those who like a little more adventure (ceviches, etc). Everything is made fresh to order (you can see them scooping out the avocados to make the guacamole for your order). The portions are quite generous and most meals (maybe all) come with some guacamole. The courses of the meal were appropriately spaced out (not at all slow, nor rushed in any way). Only one of us ordered dessert (as we were all quite stuffed) and it was also quite delicious (some kind of ice cream - I can't remember what it was). The meals are all reasonably priced (I think we all paid about $20 USD each, including appetizers, beverages, etc). The waiter (who may also be the owner) arranged a taxi for us when we were ready. The restaurant is a bit out of the way (probably about a 20-30 minute walk from the main part of downtown) but less than 5 minutes by cab (should be less than about $5 USD from the downtown). It was definitely worth it!!!

“Best restaurant we found in Cozumel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2014

Our last trip to Cozumel was over 20 years ago so imagine our joy in finding El Moro again. We found it ourselves the day we had a rental car, and it was so worth it. Waiter RAY is the happiest person on the island, we never see anyone that happy at work in the states. We enjoyed all of the food, the refried beans are outstanding, and the enchiladas are the best any of us has ever had. My husband loved the garlic soup with egg. I have coconut ice cream every chance i get in Mexico and theirs was oh-so-good. My grandson told the waiter that his vanilla was the best ice cream he had ever eaten in his life. We went here again this past Monday night, our last full day in Cozumel, took a taxi this time. All the cruise ship people probably won't find this place. Don't miss this if you go to Cozumel.

“Local Mexican Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2014 via mobile

We were told by four cab drivers that this was the best and they were right. Of the beaten path but worth it. The food was excellent, service impeccable and the drinks strong. Watch out for the shot at the end...it's absinthe not tequila surprised out friend lol when she drank it like a shot!
