This is great local Mayan influenced dining. The food and the service are excellent. The restaurant is located in the older section of Cozumel. It is truly a family operation and is a must to make.

We were here for our 30th & this yr. our 40th Anniversary ... Visited twice on this trip! Best Guacamole! So creamy and delicious. Every meal we had was so good and cooked well. Ray is such a delight and one of the reasons we returned after ten years and then twice during a one week trip. So many good places to eat in Cozumel but one of the VERY best is El Moro...you will not be disappointed!

After spending a ton of time in the toursity areas we wanted an authentic mayan meal. It was excellent! Ray, one of the owners is happy to have you there. We received chips and picante sauce and replaced them when we weren't even done. The gaucamole was excellent as well. My husband had the chicken fajitas and i had the shrimp mexican style. Both superb. Best meal we had the entire time in Cozumel. And by far the most affordable. The restaurant is not in the tourist area at all. We took a cab and it took 10 minutes or so to get there going through San Miguel, the main part of town. It is in the residential area. You will see stray dogs, run down homes but it is completely safe just not over the top fancy. The owner even called us a cab as it was raining. He even walked us out with an umbrella. Talk about feeling welcomed, wanted and like you matter as a customer! Excellent place and family run for over 25 years.

This was our best meal in Cozumel of the week. I had the chicken mole and my husband had the garlic butter fish. Both were excellent. Pico was fantastic with a slight sweetness to it. Service was wonderful and beer was cold and margarita was strong.

El Moro is outside of town in a residential area. Definitely easier to taxi in. Our cab driver showed back up after around an hour and waited on us since it was a slow night.

Wish we could have made it back another time.....it was that good.

Off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. We had an exceptional dinner. The owner greeted us personally when we arrived and patiently explained the dishes. The fish is fresh, sauces flavorful, and the salsa is amazing. I recommend this for anyone who visits here that wants a truly authentic, exceptional experience.
