“Good but not the best on the island”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2012

Very good food with fantastic service. The food was good but for the value I will go back to prima. No complaints but no wow factor. Lots of locals eating here, that's a good sign. The bar was just set to high at prima to give it five stars.

“kicked back atmosphere, friendly service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

Spent the afternoon lounging out on the sun deck watching dive boats come and go. Had great service and some great food for reasonable prices. A good place for cruise ship folks that want to stay close to the cruise docks but get away from the high prices. There is swimming/snorkeling or diving with a dive shop next door where you can rent equipment if needed.

“La Palapita Denmedio is the place to be on the beach.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2012

The map is wrong or thereis a 2nd LaPalapita in Coz. The RIGHT place, LaPalapita Denmedio, is across Melgar from La Villablanca, Papa Hogs & Opal's Dream. I can hardly say enough about the wonderful gracious, funloving and patient staff of Miguel, Mario, Vivi, Paulina, and Francisco (not sure about that last name). They work hard to create a good time plus the facilities are excellent. Well designed, since Wilma destroyed what was once there, with good layout. And music selection was often excellent, with reggaeton some days (ask Vivi for her mix). Live music Ojo Rojo (70's cover band but OK) some nights, salsa, karaoke others.
Somewhat accessible to wheelchairs if the steep tank ramps can be used. For limited mobility the entrance to the water is very good, though not for wheelchair. Security is wonderful so I just left my cane, purse and shoes on shore. And the snorkeling is excellent if you time it so not too many boats are coming in or out as you are, since the wake breaks hard on the entry stairs. We saw nearly as much from shore as out on reefs like Palancar, just less of it. Saw spotted eagle ray, other smaller rays and eels, many parrotfish of course. You can swim right up to the outside of Stingray Beach and see the rays in the enclosuire without the big price tag if you don't mind the net. Then shower quickly and use the clean bathroom while a cold cerveza reward awaits. Once I found this place I saw little reason to go elsewhere - since we stayed close at VB.
I love watching the divers go in and out with Papa Hogs, Dive Paradise and the wonderful Opal's Dream.
Food was from La Hach or Hogtown Cafe but staff will bring it hot and ready for you. Catch the vendor with Qibis, local spicy specialty, or Xavier's fried sweet churro delights. Best coffee however is nearby at the Oxxo, alas.

“Good for an afternoon pepsi light or water by the ocean”

Very small venue more suited for a daytime stop as the tables and chairs are in the sand rather than a night spot.

“Convenient, friendly and nice outdoor atmosphere and great fish tacos”

Although they sent out to the two resaturants nearby for the food. The drinks were good and they didn't hassle you if you sat at a table and read without ordering more to drink at a frequent interval.
