“Best Dive Hotel Ever”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

My wife and I like to Scuba so we get to some real nice places. We recently stayed at the Palace in Cozumel and it is a superb hotel to visit if you are a diver. All inclusive with credits to pay for your diving and a first class in house dive operation Aqua Safari. Beyond the hotel the diving in Cozumel is some of the best in the world.

Room Tip: All look out over the ocean. South side are generally quieter.

Food was delicious
Snorkeling was fabulous
Beds were comfy
Employees were super friendly

I think I choose this hotel for the positive reviews and for the idea I was getting a great deal with the resort credits....but trust me do not stay here for the credits....excursions were not worth the money...
we did the spa...which was soso for the price they are charging....the romantic dinner which we could have had the same meal in one of the restaurants and saved the $48 tax/fee they charge....the chankanaub park which was not really worth it in my opinion....and the dolphinaris which i absolutely felt sad for the dolphins for what they have to go through....the scuba diving was only for morning dives...all in all for the price we paid to stay here i would rather try out different places and save some money....i have stayed at other places in cozumel and you basically get all the same stuff...lots of food...drinks...and friendly staff....the selling point for the palace is the resort credits....but not worth it in my opinion...

We stayed at Cozumel Palace for the first time July 1-7. The staff and food were really great. The executive Chef Victor is amazing and very friendly. All of our waiters were fantastic. Food at the restaurants, Chefs dinner and romantic dinner was great. Breakfast buffet was great. We did shore diving at the resort two days and snorkeled there also - very good. The house wine selection is average - I couldn't drink the Chardonnays they had because they were so sweet - not California wines as I had been told they had when I made the reservation. I did purchase wine with resort credits that was much better than the house wines.

There are two downsides and one is MAJOR - the hallways are echo chambers and although the guests are not loud - you hear everything in the hallways in your room even if the people are 20 rooms away. It makes it difficult to sleep as doors are closed and echo throughout. People are talking which is fine but it feels like they are standing at your doorway talking loudly. We put towels under the door but it did not help. We moved rooms after the first night because we were right next to the elevator on the 3rd floor. They moved us to the 4th floor about 5 rooms away from the elevator but it was still loud. The hallways are tile and glass - understandable given the climate - but sound attenuation is zero. The hotel should install some type of sound suppression material in the hallways or install better room doors or both. We would recommend this place to other folks if it weren't for this.

The second downside - the "resort credits". You are limited as to when and how you can use them and they charge you a 16% service fee which gets added to your room bill every time you use them. So - make sure you understand the restrictions before you listen to the sales pitch about how great the resort credits are.

It is disappointing that a place that is so nice is so difficult to get sleep. Palace Resorts management company should recognize this and make some changes - we would be back if so.

Our first visit to the Palace and we fell in LOVE! The staff was beyond amazing, clean rooms, stocked mini bar (something for all ages), AMAZING views, snorkeling, swimming, awesome cuisine, diving, 24 hour room service...they have it all! Thank you to the entire staff for making our family vacation one we will NEVER forget!

Room Tip: We had a room away from the elevator to avoid noise...long walk, but well worth it!

We just visited for the second time and stayed 7 nights. The hotel is beautiful and kept immaculately clean. The whole staff is friendly, fun, helpful, efficient, and well trained. Every need we had was taken care of promptly and with a smile. The servers, bartenders, and entertainment staff work hard to make sure everyone is happy and having a good time. The food is beautiful and delicious, and we were very happy with the variety of the menus. We used resort credits for a wine upgrade, a gift shop discount, massage and pedicure at the spa, still didn't use them all. The location of the hotel is great. We walked a few blocks to the market area for shopping several iciness, and there is a discount/grocery store right across the street for things we needed like sunscreen and an ice chest for the beach. We rented a jeep and drove to the beach side of the island a few times, and that was one of the best parts of the trip. The beaches are amazing! We also did a lot of swimming and snorkeling in the ocean right outside the hotel. The water is clear and beautiful. I would highly recommend this hotel to others. It is probably not the least expensive place to stay in Cozumel, but it's a great value for the level of comfort and service and the quality of food and accommodations guests receive.

Room Tip: We stayed in a jacuzzi suite on the third floor facing the ocean both times. Very nice rooms.

Previous reviews have said it all, for the most part so my review will focus on a few things that we were especially impressed with. The greeting to the hotel with a flower, drink and cold towel was most appreciated. A big thanks to Russell who checked us in. He provided us with a most comfortable and desirable room. Daniel the activities coordinator was most helpful especially on the Chacanaub (sp) snorkle trip. A dive at Chacanaub is worth it for $45 including equipment. You get to see the underwater statues and through a cave. We were impressed with the team effort on everyone's part. When we complimented Ricardo in the asian resturant, he was quick to say that his success was part of a team effort with everyone in the dining room. The lobby bartender during the day (did not get his name) was a superb mixologist and an interesting conversationalist. The nightly entertainment guys also worked as a team and it was a lot of fun for all age groups. Again good teamwork and upbeat attitudes on these guys. The romantic dinner is well worth the resort credits and I would suggest doing it on your last night here after you have been to the other restaurants. It was my 70th birthday and they presented me with a small cake with my name on it!

I was a little skeptical about the dive operation but my concerns were soon mitiated as I did my first dives. A big thanks to Carmelo and Gustavo and their dive team for their extra help on the dive boats and for their concern for safety and diving protocol, The dives both in the water and the organization at the shop were superb. A big thanks also to Antonio who took up the operatoin of this shop some time ago. He has instilled a spirit of customer service and professionalism. I would definately dive with these guys again. Travel time on the boats was a little long that is where you get to know the other folks on the boat.

The staff does an excellent job of keeping the marble floors dry but you should be aware that you need to be carefui especially in bare feet.

In summary, this is a place where everything works and works well...service, food, accomodations, ammenities and attitude. I miss it alaready

Room Tip: If you can spring for the concierge floor upgrade, it is well worth it. Great view, aroma therapy, s...

We just spent a wonderful 10 days at Cozumel Palace. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like VIP guests. The staff is amazing! They are always smiling and checking to make sure that have anything you want or need. Want to say a special thanks to Raul at the lobby bar, & Juan B. at the pool bar! Those two guys sure know how to mix a drink and keep them coming! :) The food was great. There was a lot of variety and we never went a meal without finding something we enjoyed. We did not eat at the Mexican or Italian restaurant, but really enjoyed 2 dinners at the Asian restaurant. Me & the hubby both visited & enjoyed the spa...he had a holistic and a hot stone massage, while I had a mani/pedi and a nutritive scalp treatment. We were very happy to be able to use resort credits for tours/spa. We used ours for Chankanaab, Spa, Chocolate Tour & Stingray Beach. We will be visiting Cozumel Palace again, along with trying out the rest of the Palace Resorts (yes, we bought a membership!) Only issue we have with this resort is that the halls are concrete & windows, so every noise echoes. I was told they are about to begin a renovation soon and will be working on fixing that issue. There are so many reasons I love this place...you should visit and fall in love with it too!!!!
