“Exceptional Vacation - we'll Be Back Again!!”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

We have been to the Palace many times and yet again we were treated with the best service ever! The resort is clean and beautiful, the food exceptional - in all restaurants. We travel frequently and it is by far the best service of any hotel we have stayed in, our sincere thanks for another FANTASTIC vacation! Jay and Deb

Hi. My wife and I went to Palace Coz for our honeymoon 10/2013. I have been to the Island over 15 times, and have stayed at many of the hotels. Palace is by far the best experience I have ever had.
Staff, Food, Accommodations, Spa,,,,everything...except Diving.
We stayed this time for 9 days
Always clean, room A/C worked great for 5 days. It would make it snow almost. Last days it had trouble keeping up. When in room the only noise is from activities outside (minimal) and from people in the hall walking to or from their room. Halways are marble so noise does travel. Sign up for tours early in your stay. Good Location. We visited the Palace on the mainland, it was nice also, but Palace Coz is much more personal.

Years ago this hotel was called Plaza Las Glorias. The dive shop was known as a cattle boat operation. I dove with them in 1993 and decided to never again. Well, this time we were able to use ALL of our credits for diving if we wanted (that is not the norm. We got the promotion in a negotiation when we became members.) So, basically my diving was FREE. I dove a total of 15 dives. However you must understand that you will be limited to morning dives only!!! Dive masters were great!

The Bad
They have the slowest boats in the fleet and expect it to take over 90 minutes to get to the dive site. By this time the reefs had already been visited by several other groups. Most days they rented other boats to handle the extra demand. The dive groups were split up several times, so it was like a first day of diving for all. That meant that the dive masters didn’t get to know the skill level of the individuals, so all dives were aimed at beginning divers. They almost exclusively dove Palancar Bricks, Caves, and Santa Rosa Wall, and Dahlia for the second dive. We almost always had other groups near us and if you didn’t pay attention you could easily get linked to another group. Large groups...TOO large. Dive shop office not the best experience. Constantly had to get the charges "adjusted" we were being charged wrongly almost every day. Good thing my wife is fluent, because the frustration would have won.
The Good.
Dive masters were good. They allowed you to dive until your individual air consumption was low and didn’t require all to end the dive when the first person got low. They made sure that people dove the profile. Their boats are larger and slower so you have more comforts and it is a better platform if you have issues with motion sickness. I used rental equipment this time. Although they weren’t integrated weight systems the equipment worked flawlessly. They have Lockers and wash tanks on site, so you were able to leave your gear there for your entire stay. Even though the groups were large the dive masters tried hard to point out sea life along the way. We attended the resort sales pitch and received $200 that we were able to put towards our taxes and gear rental fees, as these are not covered with resort credits. Overall, I would rate the dive shop as good. Just expect large groups, slow boats, common dive sites, problematic office administration.
Remember to book your dive days as far in advance as you can, you can always cancel with 24 hours’ notice. If you have your own gear, it is an economical way to dive using the resort credits. If you need gear it is not very cost effective. If I ran the best resort hotel in Cozumel, I would definitely fix the weak link of a dive shop. They should offer more options to dive different times, faster boats, and office administration that have the same pleasant attitude.
The next trip I will not use this dive operator. There are better and cheaper Dive operators.."Dive With Martin", that will offer the opportunity to use a larger boat.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from elevators and kitchen.

We have been to the Cozumel Palace 5 times now and every time it is a wonderful vacation. The staff are very attentive and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable but would love to see the tv moved to the sitting area. The food is good and well prepared. Can't wait until our next trip.

We returned to the Palace and had a wonderful time. The improvement this year is that we were not "attacked" with attempts to sell us a membership - we found that extremely off-putting last year.
As always, the staff is friendly and helpful. The food is as good as we remembered. We dined twice in the Italian restaurant (note dress code but they have pants men can borrow) where the food was outstanding. The chef's dinner was special and the Head Chef very engaging. The Asian and Mexican restaurants were also quite good. Ricardo helped us schedule appointments and excursions; he was our "go-to" person who could always answer our questions. Another change this year was no limit on the use of resort credits for diving. My husband loves diving with Aqua Safari (and has for years) and was thrilled to have Mariano on 4 of his 5 days of diving. Another change with Palace is you now receive a card with your unused resort credits, to be used within a year; they also can be transferred to other vacationers. If we needed an incentive to return within a year, we now have one.
The rooms are clean, as is the entire resort. The staff works hard and they make you feel welcome.
There is free wi-fi throughout the resort and free calls back to the US and Canada.
Now to decide when to return...

Room Tip: As for one on the 4th or 5th floor, ocean view.

I absolutely love Cozumel Palace. We traveled with a group of ten family members aged 19-53. There is always something to do. The food is amazing. We tried all of the restaurants and room service. I think the Japanese place was our favorite but they are all awesome. Tons of menu choices. The bar and wait staff are very attentive and accommodating. Daniel and Alejandro keep the entertainment going all day by the pool and in the evenings. They are really fun(ny).
We booked the chef dinner, wine tasting, swim with the dolphins/Chankanaab park and several spa treatments. These were all excellent choices and easy to pre-reserve. Carlos was very helpful and assisted us in getting a rental van and jeep. He was always helpful with questions.
They are always cleaning, dusting and cleaning windows. The Palace is spotless.
Our only issues were with reservations. The pre-booked items were all mixed up and not entirely booked. It was finally all sorted out by Hugo in the end.Everything ended up perfect but it took a few hours at the reservation desk as there were so many of us. The dive shop reservations did not work out so well either. We had no issues in 2013 but it was a different story this year. On top of being high season this year we could not actually pre-book reservations. After being told to book when we arrived, all morning and afternoon dives were booked at arrival. Luckily I had been emailing the dive shop before we arrived and was able to book one morning of diving for our seven divers. We booked the private boat and the night dive for cash not resort credits during the rest of the week. The one day we did dive with resort credits there were 15 divers on board. Too many for my liking. We were the only ones on the private boat which was awesome.
I still love the place and we plan to return in Feb for our 25th wedding anniversary. We plan to try one of the other Palace resorts in Cancun.

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor in 2013 and 2014. All ocean side rooms have a great view and it is not...

Our first trip to the Cozumel Palace and we loved it. A+ customer service. Junior suite was awesome. 5th floor room had a great view of the ocean and pool area. Room service breakfast was awesome. About one block from Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. Shopping also nearby. Really no need for a rental car unless you plan to tour the island. Less than one mile from the ferry to Playa del Carmen. Only complaint was a little hassle regarding a timeshare presentation, but that did not tarnish my stay at the Palace. We shall return again. Hopefully, next year.

Room Tip: Get a room with an ocean view.

We stayed at the resort in February 2013 with 2 other couples. We had a wonderful time...the service is excellent for an all-inclusive. The pools are beautiful and clean, the location is great and we really enjoyed the entertainment each night. We usually eat ala carte at night but they had a buffet outside with pretty much anything you wanted grilled to order...shrimp, chicken, steak, fish. Great resort to relax and be pampered! Be sure to check out the spa...wonderful massages!
