“We were Treated Like Royalty at the Palace”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2009

A work group of 15 stayed at the Palace for 7 nights and had a wonderful time. The service is above and beyond what you would expect. We hated leaving the hotel and were so glad when we returned "home" to our special place in paradise. Skip the tours and the shopping, just stay and enjoy.

Better late than never. My husband and I stayed at the Coz Palace in April of 08 for our honeymoon. This place is amazing. Check in was prompt, the rooms and grounds are beautiful, just like the pictures. The staff was excellent. All the food was great, our favorites were the mexican restaurant and the poolside grill, and of course the breakfast buffet.
Take advantage of all the free tours! Tulum was a great historical site as well as the most beautiful beach ever. The snorkeling was worthwhile. My husband went for the first time and now wants to start diving. We did not go to Chankannab, however we heard from some friends we met that it was great as well. But a must do is to rent a Jeep and drive around the island! We went into town and rented an old raggedy Jeep for $50, less expensive than the hotel, but not as nice, but it got us where we wanted to go. This is totally safe and almost impossible to get lost, the highway is a giant circle. We stopped at each beach bar that we ran across and swam in the gorgeous beaches and had a couple of drinks, ate lunch, etc. We enjoyed it so much we went back and another day and rented a polaris razor.
The nighlife at the resort was not too wild, most things closed
up around 11. However you can go into town to Senor Frogs or Carlos and Carlies and party the night away if you wish. We were so beat from getting up early and playing in the sun all day that we didn't have much energy left at the end of the night.
The location of the CP is great, just a short walk to town. We walked into town almost every morning before it got too hot. I have nothing negative to say about the resort. We are just hoping that we can go on another vacation that is comparable to this one.

We had a great time at the Cozumel Palace. We arrived at the hotel to a cool towel and a red carnation for me. They seated us in the lobby with a welcome drink and came to us for check-in. The only negative was when guest services comes over to tell you about the hotel and tries to talk you into a 90 min presentation (that isn't a time share, really). no thank you.

The room was beautiful with a wonderful view. Mini bar was well stocked. We ordered room service while we unpacked and it was great, we had shrimp cocktail and steak. They had a nice menu for room service (24 hr).

We tried the Mexican restaurant and Italian we liked the Grill the best. Great steaks (ribeye, t-bone, new york strip), fish, chicken, chops and kabobs grilled to order. The 3 indoor restaurants you need to wear slacks, did see someone turned away in shorts. The grill outside you can wear shorts. And No reservations for the restaurants. Breakfast had made to order omelets with a selection of other breakfast items, not huge but adequate. Lunch we ate at the grill, very good cheese steak sandwich, grilled tenderloin on a crusty roll with an order of guacamole and pico. The buffets were adequate if you put into perspective that this is not a mega resort and the buffets are relative to the guest count.

This hotel is not a big party crowd, not much night life, which is OK with us. Drinks were top shelf and strong, I had to ask for weak ones (in the afternoon anyway). There were young couples, a couple of young families and a big middle age crowd. There didn't seem to be much to do for kids.

We went to Playa Mia. The tour company that runs the Chankanaab trip gave a cab driver a coupon to take us and gave us a coupon for the return trip so we could leave whenever we wanted not the 4:00 as listed.

The things we liked and the reason we stayed here:
Close to town, walking distance
Air conditioned lobby, bars, & restaurants
Ocean-view rooms
waitstaff around the pool
No reservations for dinner at the restaurants

Pleasantly surprised about:
Great meat for Mexico
Outstanding waitstaff everywhere
Free long distance calls, limited to continental NA basically
Found out too late that vanilla in the hotel gift shop is half the price we paid in town, will shop there first next time.
Rooms were not as loud as reviewers made it sound like. As in any coastal area there is lots of tile, I've heard a lot worse at High end hotels. Bigger crowds, more noise.

All in all we had a great experience and will return to Cozumel and Cozumel Palace.

My husband and I traveled to Cozumel in Dec.08 for ten days at Cozumel Palace. We are scuba divers and really enjoyed the diving on the island. We used Aqua Safari dive outfitters which is located in two spots on the island. One is on the property of Cozumel Palace. We booked the tour from a travel agent posting on ebay. (email me if you would like the contact info). Unbelievable package price and amenities. Resort is small, but comfortable. Rooms are incredible. Free room service and wonderful restaurants. Tours included in the price to Coba and Tulum were great. We booked a separate tour to Chichen Itza through a different company that was much cheaper than anything the resort offered. Wonderful vacation- would recommend to anyone, especially divers who also want luxury accomodations.

My family and I just got back from a seven day stay at The Cozumel Palace (Jan 3-10). We had a great time.

To stress, first and foremost, Cozumel is not for the beach type of vacation. Also, if you can afford to upgrade to the Concierge Room, do it. We had two rooms, my sister and I in a Junior Suite and my parents upgraded to a Concierge Room. Although they advertise a better view, our view were exactly the same (we were seven rooms from them both on the 4th floor). The in room liquor was upgraded (Absolute instead of Smirnoff and other better brands including Bacardi and Jose Cuervo), the staff goes out of their way to accommodate you any which way they can and the best part: 2 complimentary 25 minute massages (a savings of $82!!!!!) just go to the spa and book normally.

Their gym was eh, if you are an avid exerciser as my family is you would be disappointed. but none the less it got the job done.

The food was decent. It was definitely not gourmet, but it grew on us. We have stayed at many different all inclusive resorts all over Mexico and the food at this hotel was probably our least favorite, but do not get discouraged. Their Italian Restaurant was our least favorite. I had a piece of Grouper and it tasted and had the consistency of chicken. My parents had Chicken Parm and they said the sauce was sweet. The Asian restaurant was good, we had the Chop Suey, Tappenaki, Teriyaki and a few other appetizers that were very good, they advertise Men need to wear long pants, but it was definitely not needed, most men were wearing shorts without a problem. Most nights we ate outside at Flamingo restaurant. it's a buffet, but everynight they have a grill out and you can order just about any good piece of meat, fish, pork and lamb chops, and assorted kabobs. This restaurant was EXCELLENT. The grilled Grouper here was so fresh (unlike in the Italian restaurant) and every piece of meat we had was delicious. Fridays are a Mexican night outside and the food was still really really good. For breakfast, the buffet is all that is available outside of room service and it was ok, there's a variety of breakfast foods. We normally just stuck to eggs and omelets. If you like shrimp, get some shrimp in your omelets, it was great! The lunch buffet was great, had an assortment of different food including pasta and pizza. They will grill chicken or beef stripes for you. The chicken strips were amazing. I don't know how they get their chicken so thin and so tender, but it was absolutely delicious.

It is advertised that tips are included and not necessary but these waiters and waitresses LIVE off of your additional tips. Every resort we have gone to we bring an obscene amount of singles and every last one is spent at the end of the week. They work SO hard and are SO attentive I'm not sure who would not feel compelled to tip them an extra dollar or two. Plus, every day after that, they will be especially more attentive and you will not wait for a drink or anything by the pool or at a restaurant. If you eat dinner outside at Flamingo, ask for Diego!!!!!!!!!!!

As I said before, this resort has no beach as like most resorts in Cozumel so if you are the beach type of family, this is not the place for you. they do have sand with lounge chairs, but it does not lead you to the water. In order to get into the water, you need to climb down ladders. It wasn't bad at all. SIGN OUT THE SNORKEL EQUIPMENT!!!!!!!! you will not be sorry, and besides, its free! The water was GORGEOUS! so clear you can see so many fish and the coral was out of this world. Also, don't be scared and definitely jump off of the big trampoline they have in the water!!

On Friday we signed up to go to Chankanaab National Park. it was well worth it. They have a beach there and it was fantastic. The hotel offers free transportation to Chankanaab on Mondays and Fridays, but make sure you go to the Elite Tour desk and sign up early, from what I heard they fill up quick. You register at the lobby at 8:40an and they provide towels and you leave to Chankanaab around 9 and it's only about a 10-15 minute drive. Transportation back is at 3pm. Lunch is not provided so bring cash or a credit card and you can also rest snorkel gear there for $10 a set if you don't have your own to bring and I recommend snorkeling there because it was out of this world!!!!!!

At Chankanaab we did the Dolphin Discovery program where you can swim with the dolphins. It was well worth the money for it. If you can afford it, go for it. It's an awesome program and the hotel usually will offer discounts. We got buy one get one free but we aren't sure if it was because of the Concierge Room like they said it was or if they were offering it to the entire hotel.

The hotel lobby was dead most of the evenings and we aren't sure where most of the other guests went as we are not the "going" out type on vacation. Margaretaville and Senor Frogs were a short distant walk as well as many shops.

The entertainment staff was great. They really do want you to enjoy our stay as much as possible. The shows at night were probably the better ones we have seen at all the resorts we have been to. Ricardo (Rico Suavey) will flirt with all the women, but it's all in good fun.

We only had a couple of very minor complaints, some not even worth mentioning but Trip Advisor was intended for people to be honest:
1. The lobby and restaurants were VERY chilly (bring a few light jackets!!)
2. Hallways were very loud, since everything is made of marble, the slightest noise is very audible, it got quiet fairly early tho.
3. our room did not slam shut on your way out and we really had to be conscious that after we left the room the door was completely shut.

I had been to Cozumel twice before this trip. All I can say is the Hotel can definitely MAKE the trip. I had never been to an all-inclusive hotel before this vacation. I have been all over the world and stayed at many famous nice hotels but I have to say that Cozumel Palace is my favorite place I have stayed. I already want to re-book for summer. The service is absolutely A++. The staff members not only remember your name but actually come to KNOW you. You absolutely want for nothing. Anything you ask for you receive and very quickly at that. The rooms are awesome- marble everywhere and a jacuzzi right in the middle of the room. A hammock on the balcony is an extra bonus.
I was under the impression that all inclusives had mediocre food with basic bar liquor. I was mistaken. Cozumel Palace is FIVE STAR all the way. The food is excellent and the choices incredible. In terms of alcohol- they serve all the best- Grey Goose, Stoli etc. The Mojitos are perfect! They stock your fridge with whatever beer you request and they have full bottles of all different alcohol in the room as well.
The location of the hotel is perfect- within 5 minutes walking distance of the town center. Honestly, we loved the hotel so much we rarely ventured outside the property.
The decision to stay at the Cozumel Palace will be one of your best travel decisions you will make!

After visiting over 39 countries and eating at some preety fine restaurants, and then having to write reviews for the internet and magazines, I have become fine tuned to the wishes of most "tourists".. We have now found the "all inclusive". the resort that provides you without ever having to leave your place of worship. This is quite popular on the coast of Mexico, including Cancun, The Mayan Riviera, Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel..
So if you are taking a vacation for rest , relaxation and just plain fun and enjoy the spectacular thrill of Scuba and Snorkling then Cozumel Palace is the finest you will find .. 189 marble rooms with Hot tubs in each. Bars loaded with 4 types of liquors, fridge with beer and sodas ,a safe, plus a lovely bathroom with the finest hair products plus tooth brush and paste. plus a great view of the Carribean from your terrace. Excellent room maid service and fast room service. This Hotel rates with the best service per se on any continent, personable and very friendly.. 4 restaurants
Mexican, Italian,Oriental and outdoor grill under the stars offering the finest grilled grouper on the island ,plus t bone, n.y.strip and rib eyes grilled perfectly..FREE telephone service to U.S. , Canada and Mexico. free snorkel gear, top shelf liquors and bar
service evey few moments to your chaise. Most important , NO
reservations at any restaurant. This is top class all the way..The food is fantastic and live shows at night..no hotel compares for quality and service.. Winner of Travelers Choice Awards..
