We went to Cozumel for a four-day getaway. Hotel Cozumel made things easy for us. Check in was quick and the service was exceptional. The room was large, clean, and comfortable. The a/c worked very well and the king-sized bed was not too firm with large soft pillows. The bathroom had a separate sink area, which we prefer. The pool area was very big and we were always able to find a place to sit. Unfortunately, the tables didn't get cleaned very often. We had an all-inclusive package, so we ate every meal at the hotel. Breakfasts were buffet style with an omelet station. Toast, fruit, cereal, and yogurt were always options, as well some some Mexican choices. Lunch was served at the beachfront grill. We are not picky eaters, but still had a hard time finding food to our liking off the lunch buffet. Luckily we could get chips and guacamole or burritos. The dinner buffet was located in the same restaurant where breakfast was served. There were a lot of options, but not much appealed to us. We were able to fill up and take in our daily energy requirements, but did not care much for the food. In addition, there was a snack bar at the pool that served burgers, hot dogs, pizza, and nachos. One day I wanted a slice of pizza, but no plates were available. I asked for a plate, but no one ever brought me one. The beach area was nice with plenty of lounge chairs and fresh water showers. There was a very cool area for snorkeling. We were there to dive. The scuba operator was Dive Paradise. They did a great job organizing the chaos. In addition to boat dives, we did a shore dive right off the hotel property and saw a lot of interesting things. There are dive lockers for storing gear. The hotel assigned us a key for one locker. It was big enough for one set of scuba gear. There were two of us, but they would not give us more than one locker. We ended up carrying some gear back to the room each day. The hotel is across the main street from the ocean, but there is a tunnel that connects the property, so traffic was never a problem. Overall, the place was clean and service was great. The food wasn't so good, but the location and price made up for it.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms have balconies that face the ocean, but it is across a busy street. During the day...

As a diver I am in Cozumel often so have stayed at Hotel Cozumel in the past. Just returned from staying there again and would never consider it in the future. The pool is full of little local kids and the outdoor entertainment blares late into the night. The food is absolute crap and the rooms are run down. I highly recommend choosing a different hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room at a different hotel .....

This hotel has the largest pool on the island......be aware that they fill it up with locals. Employees are allowed in free on Saturdays and they can bring their families and friends. Way to many kids peeing in the pool. Food was average. They served very little sea food. Rooms were comfortable and a/c was cold. Employees were nice but not enough of them. Will check this one off our list!

Room Tip: Top floor would be quieter. Adjoining room are very noisy. We could hear the guys next to us as is...

Well the service is good. The place needs some fixing up and the food is not so great. Room are out dated pool area needs to be kept much cleaner and the pool itself seems cloudy all the time. Probably would not stay again.:(

Those who complain about the food must be really picky eaters because we all thought the food was pretty darn good. There is not a huge selection each meal but most everything was at least above average. Breakfast was always great and the omlett bar was a favorite. The snack bar area by the pool got kind of nasty looking by the end of the day but we never ate there as the restaurant by the beach was far better for lunch. The lobby bar had the best bartenders in our opinion. The pool and beach bartenders looked like they hated their jobs and people in general, but were always willing to mix up whatever you asked. Their fruity drinks were made with mixers that all seemed to have weird tastes. After a few crummy drinks we learned how to be more specific when ordering! The evening shows were average but you have to hand it to the staff who work very hard to entertain and huge variety of guests. The rooms were larger than I had expected. I had emailed a room request to be near the front of the resort, closest to the road and ended up on 3rd floor in the building the furthest from the road! Not a big deal - the resort is small and I need the exercise anyway! There were a few days when the staff seemed overwhelmed by the crowds at the pool and were unable to keep things cleaned up but over all the resort is kept clean. The beach area is small, man-made and if you aren't a diver, I would suggest you pick another resort. The beauty in this place is the convenience for divers.

Room Tip: All the rooms looked very similar to me. It would be nice to be closer to the front of the resort

Stayed there July 13 - 19, 2014: Hotel needs to be updated especially the rooms. BED WAS HORRIBLE, FOOD WAS POOR QUALITY & WAY BELOW AVERAGE!!! On our 3rd day the hotel had no air conditioning or water for over 5 hours!!! The only thing I would rate as good would be the employees are very nice & try to provide great service with what they have. One morning the maintenance staff started banging & clanging on the room next to us trying to repair the doorjam at 6:45am!!!! The hotel rooms are very noisy & you hear everything from the room next to you and the hallways. The tv in room had a horrible buzz in it that the maintenance staff said was the satellite feed. After the first day we ate only breakfast at hotel & went to town to eat supper. Even the afternoon snackbar area had sub-par food. In the past we have stayed at Park Royal and I can definitely say that this will be our first & last stay at Hotel Cozumel!!!!

Room Tip: The Wi-Fi was not consistent at all

It is not really small, it just feels like that with the well designed site and the friendliness of the staff and guests. It is a short, 15-20 minute, walk to the square. In foreign countries we prefer a less expensive place closer to the local scene rather than an isolated luxury hotel. Hotel Cozumel is a great balance. The pool area is rarely matched, and snorkling or lounging on the sand on the beach side is great. All the staff are friendly and attentive. Many guests come back regularly. The food at dinner is often not exciting; beef in Mexico rarely meets American standards and they usually chop up chicken so I can't easily find white meat.We ate in town twice. But their cleaning standards are high and I have not met anyone in 15 trips who got sick. We find the place very relaxing and pleasant. It is the kind of place we like.
