We stayed for 4 days starting 4/30/2012. Playa Azul was a great choice. It was close to the golf course, peacefully quiet and had great service. We were in room 401 and I highly recommend it.
It's on the top floor, on the corner, has great views and a hot tub on the balcony.
Have to agree with the guy that said the door latches need a good going over...HA
Our new favorite place in Coz. We'll be back.

This was our 2nd stay at Playa Azul and again we loved it! This time my husband and I traveled with our two kids (age 5 and age6) and my best friend. It is located about 2 miles north of the city. It is super easy to drive into town or cheap to get a taxi we rented a car from Isis.

I did notice that there was a fair amount of bar noise this trip maybe because they are now offering an all-inclusive option. Most days we stayed at the beach at Playa Azul and would head into town for lunch and dinner. Compared to other places Playa Azul is more expensive, but what the bonus is that it is a smaller resort, you feel welcomed by everyone. Plus it has a great section of beach!

The Playa Azul staff are exceptional and really make this a great hotel! Everyone treated us well and they were great with my kids......the staff get 5 stars!! A special thanks to Hernan, Yassir, Carlos, and Juan.

Yes the hotel is older and maybe a touch dated, but very clean and maintained. The included breakfast each morning was always good. The chef even made my kids mickey mouse shaped pancakes which was a big hit!

Hubby golfed 7 out of 11 days that we were there…..he loves the course.

Our last stay the mattresses were extremely hard, but they now have foam mattresses on top which made the bed much more comfortable this trip! Each room has a balcony with two plastic chairs and plastic table. It appears each room has an ocean view.

Playa Azul provides an included breakfast. It was served buffet style. The breakfast was quite substantial for being included and we were quite happy with it.

Stayed for just three days in late April 2012. View from the room was gorgeous. Room was spacious and clean, but a bit outdated in terms of furnishings. It was totally charming. Some nice artisan touches throughout the room (brightly painted Mexican lamps, etched mirrors). Our room was on the 4th floor so we had a cathedral ceiling which added to the spaciousness of the room. Plenty of hot water and a large shower big enough for two...no bathtub though. Very Mexican with tile floors and brightly painted walls. View from the room was incredible. We arrived late the first night and went to the bar for food since the restuarant was closed. It was clear that the staff there wanted us to hurry up and eat....the bartender stared at use the entire time we ate. That was a bit off-putting, but the next morning we went down for breakfast (which was included in the room price) and it was very good, with an omelet bar, lots of fruit, cold cereals, yogurt, and some Mexican egg and tortilla dishes. Overall our stay was great and well worth the price (which was extremely reasonable). Didn't have the opportunity to golf, but other guests we talked to said the course was excellent and as a guest of the hotel, the fees are only $30.00 to play.

Room Tip: All rooms face the water, so all are good. The view from the fourth floor, room 407 was simply stun...

This place took great care of us. It was quite beautiful and tranquil - an excellent couples romantic getaway. Nice restaurant, too. Convenient dock for scuba pickup.

Just spent one week at the Playa Azul Beach Resort in Cozumel, Mexico. This boutique hotel has only 50 rooms on four floors. All of the rooms face the Caribbean and have small private balconies. The best part of the hotel was the service. The wait staff and the front desk staff were terriffic. The last night they prepared fresh lobster and set a table for us on the dock with candles and farolitos. We had a great dinner and desert and just enjoed the lapping of the waves against the pier. All of the waters spoke English but we enjoed practicing our Spanish. Before we left for the airport, we had a bosed lunch made just for us, as the travelling time did not allow for lunch.
what a great place, I can't wait to go back to Cozumel and stay at the Playa Azul again.

Stayed here over the Easter break with our family of five and daughters boyfriend. We did the All inclusive option since there were six of us. Breakfast was great as others have stated. Lunch was just as good, blt, club sandwich, tacos, hamburgers, great french fries and many other items. Supper was also good, grilled shrimp, beef kabobs, octopus. The menu has a wide variety of items to chose from. We ate at the hotel everyday except for one night that we walked across the street and ate at the Lobster House which was Awesome!!!. Never had a bad meal at the hotel and with all the beverages (beer, soda, frozen drinks bottled water) included thought it was a great value. The hotel itself is a bit dated as others have stated but it is always clean and the staff is very friendly. Just something about the place that makes you want to return as many people that were there had been there several times and were friends with the staff. Would return for sure.
