My husband and I stayed at this hotel for part of our honeymoon. It is a great hotel for the price. I agree with one other reviewer who commented that this hotel is better than the all inclusive, mega-hotels. This hotel is quaint and has great character. The rooms are clean and well kept. Cute decor with mosquito net above the bed. The staff are very friendly. There is a small bar downstairs. Evan, the bartender, was great! We had delicious breakfast and coffee everyday before we headed out for our dives, and the breakfast was included! The hotel is only a 6-7 minute walk from the ferry ride, although it was hard to find it at first, and it is five minute walk to the center of Cozumel. Great location. Great price. Great staff. Great rooms. We plan on coming back to Cozumel to dive and we are definitely coming back to this hotel.

The only thing that was bad was the lack of hot water. This is the only reason why I gave 4. If they had hot water I would give a score of 5.

I travel frequently to Cozumel for diving and I regularly stay at the Flamingo. The staff is wonderful, the rooms are clean and Ivan at the bar is irreplaceable. Having breakfast included is a wonderful bonus and a powerful draw to return. Highly recommended.

After doing lots of research on hotels and all-inclusives in Cozumel, we finally decided to stay at Hotel Flamingo and we are so happy we did! We only paid $538 for 8 days and 7 nights at Hotel Flamingo, whereas if we would have stayed in an all-inclusive we could only afford a 4 day stay in paradise!
LOCATION:
Hotel Flamingo is in the city and is walking distant to virtually everything in the city, shopping at the markets and vendors, awesome resteraunts and the seawall. It was WAY more adventerous staying in the city than an all-inclusive!! The city is extremely safe!!!! The locals are very polite and kind. We went to a local icecream shop where the owner made the men get up from their chairs to let the women sit down. That is not likely to happen back home in the US. So, to us, the location was perfect! You can take taxis anywhere, the taxis are everywhere and ready to take you where you need to go. Or you can rent a car or scooter from ISIS rentadora from Margaritta who was awesome!

FREE BREAKFAST:
The Hotel offered free breakfast every morning. We just went downstairs before leaving for our day and the hotel staff would bring us a menu of lots of things to choose from. This is NOT a continental breakfast! Its a full on breakfast menu! My husband had Hueves Mexicana, omelettes, and I had Belgain waffles, along with orange juice and coffee. Wonderful free breakfast!

STAFF:
The staff is very knowledgable and helpful. The staff knows the city well and are there to help you with any concerns or questions you have. They are also very attentive were very attentive to our needs. They were always asking if we needed anything.

ROOMS:
The rooms were spotless! The cleaning lady came everyday and cleaned our room and left us flowers, candy and beautiful swans and hearts with the towels. The superior room has a sitting area with TV and table,3 comfortable lounging chairs and mini fridge. The bed, linens and pillows were very comfortable. The bed also had a beautiful netting around it that sets the mood! Bathroom was spacious, they had hot water!!!

DRAWBACKS:
Only one I can think of: The hotel does not have a pool. The owner said he is working on putting a pool in. But who needs a pool when you have a beautiful ocean not far away!!

Please give this hotel a chance. We were treated like family when we stayed. The owner even let us borrow his snorkeling gear because my husbands was not working correctly. The downstairs bar and resteraunt area has FREE WIFI!! So we were able to send pics and emails to our daughter while we were gone. If you wan to stay in the city this is the best hotel to stay at!!!

My second time here. It was a pleasure to have a personalized experience with real service, and get away from the mega hotel/restaurent experience. Convienent location, clean comfortable accomodations, great value. The bar offers free internet, live music and Evan behind the bar is a great host. You can have a great meal brought in, an amazing Mohito or just plan your next day adventure. Guests were offered everything from scuba packages to scooter rental assistance. Not fancy but awesome and you will meet some great fellow travelers plus locals who are in the know.

Owner Tom Fryer runs this charming hotel located in the north end of San Miguel. He runs a great hotel. From the moment you walk in, you are warmly greeted by the staff. Ivan, the evening bartender, is the real outstanding member of staff at the Flamingo. He knows that the key to running a great hotel is about forging and maintaining excellent relationships with people. He creates a genuine and friendly environment, attends to detail, and knows the island well.

The rooms at the hotel are small but tastefully appointed with comfortable beds and spotless bathrooms including showers (but no tubs). Each room has a ceiling fan and AC for warmer evenings. We visited during March and did not need the AC. The rooms are kept immaculate by the housekeeping staff who are prompt and efficient.

The hotel features a lovely courtyard and a fantastic bar with both indoor and outdoor seating available. Ivan at the bar is always ready with recommendations on excellent local restaurants, whatever your budget may be. The Flamingo is perfect for couples and people not interested in the all-inclusive resort hotels that dominate the southern and northern portions of the island. We researched quite a few hotels in San Miquel and for the location, price, and quality, this hotel really cannot be beat.

My wife and I stayed in the Penthouse suite the week after the folks who wrote the review just before this one. My sentiments are about the same. A good value for the money and a good location for being on foot. We also had almost no sunbathers. One person for 2 days in the morning was all. A/C is great. Overhead fans are great too. Kitchen could use a stove/oven and a new fridge (compressor is loud). Great service and excellent breakfasts. Water pressure is low but adequate. Allow 5 minutes for hot water to arrive in the shower. No problem noise at night. One note though. This hotel is advertised as 100% non-smoking. Despite this, someone was allowed to smoke at the bar on our last night there. We left as soon as he lit up. The hotels need to be clear that 100% non-smoking means just that. Despite that it was a good experience overall.
