If you like small dive establishments, this place is for you. With only 22 rooms, small fast boats, and a small eatery upstairs from the dive shop, the place feels like home. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the beds could be softer, but after unlimited shore diving and two boat dives a day, you won't even notice. The staff, Alex and Andrea are the nicest young people around. Martin and Pony in the dive shop are great. The divemasters are super as is the wait staff Marta and Sergio in the little restaurant. All rooms have fantastic views and you literally walk out your door and walk on to the boat dock just past the pool.

We've been staying there for 8 years and the new owners Eva and Robert have made fantastic improvements in the surrounding grounds and in customer service. Great place

My husband and I like to stay at nice hotel so when we first checked in we were put off by the room and the small bathroom. BUT- we dove the next morning and the dive shop and crew is fabulous and I had the best diving experiences with them ( I am a newbie). My husband on the other hand has dived Cozumel for years and he gave it a very high rating too.
After we dove we had a good lunch and went back to the room for a nap- the bed was comfortable ( a little hard ), the room is basic but clean. The air conditioning was cold and the room service great. The view from the rooms are spectacular. You can't beat the price and location. I never noticed the street noise. We totally revised our opinion of the place.

My husband went back over Thanksgiving with his cousin and we are returning to Caribe Blu in July to stay even longer this summer. I would recommend it to friends with the disclaimer that if they want total luxury pay alot more and go down the road to an all inclusive. But for a great clean, basic hotel with a first class dive operation go to Caribe Blu.

Hotel rooms were very clean and functional. They had a certian rustic Mexican charm and we felt very at home. The views was spectacular! Sunest was best and was about 6:30pm. We fun out on the kayaks several times and they seemed to there for the guests at no extra charge. They always had enough towels and twice they had them waiting for us when we came in from a late night shore dive. We ate in town but found the resturant was a good deal and had cheap drinks & better food than some of the meals we paid double for in town. Did our check out dive on our own and we saw so much life in front of the hotel we did several more dive like it during the week. The staff were great and were very helpful even when we were diving on our own. The instructor even told us where to look for what sealife. The night diving was the best!

Our first time at Blue Angel on a recommendation from a friend and we would go back in a heartbeat. I almost want to call this a “dive lodge” similar to the fishing lodges we often travel to. If you are an avid diver, or wanna be one, this place is for you!

The Hotel/dive operation. The hotel has all you need aside from a few trips into town – great rooms, full-time restaurant and a great dive operation. The hotel has about 20 lovely spacious, clean and airy rooms; the showers are great for a quick finishing rinse of your gear; the decks are great to watch the sunset, and pool is right there for you to enjoy. There are refrigerators and TVs in all the rooms. I would say the most quiet room is 105 – the end of the first floor – opens right onto the garden area and has no road noise. The least desirable room is probably 201 sort of over the restaurant and over the roof of the lobby area. We ended up in 304 which was great and had a nice view of the ocean, pool, and arriving dive boats. There is a bit of road noise, but once you are in your room and on the deck, you won’t hear anything but the ocean. From what we hear, they’ve made some recent upgrades in the last six months that are really nice under Eva’s new ownership. Upgrades like expanding the restaurant deck, painting around the pool and planting and leveling the garden area in front. The place is very conducive to meeting other people and talking about diving – it’s an intimate place with social areas being in the open-air lobby, pool, and restaurant and diving deck. The staff are wonderful and Eva, the owner is around often and engaged in the operations. Alex, at the front desk in the evenings is full of personality, assistance and advice on local restaurants – thanks Alex!

Diving: The dive operation is completely dialed in and that is the primary reason to stay here. The package rates are fantastic for a room, dives, and breakfasts for two people. We’ve been diving all over and Cozumel is in my top three destinations – great walls, very large reef fish, swim-throughs and drift diving and the sites are close. You can certify there, and do all of your checkout dives as shore dives – in fact go on a dive on your own from their beach – it’s great! The dive masters are all good and if you dive in the afternoon, you will be on a smaller boat with fewer people.

Restaurant: Good food and great chips and guac! Prices are good and you can grab a bite at nearly any hour in the day. The margaritas are a bit disappointing, but I’m a bit of a margarita snob. I also wished they had better coffee and made it more available and accessible. When we weren’t eating in Blue Angel’s restaurant, Alex (at the front desk) sent us to eat off the beaten path at The Mission, Perlita, La Parilla – all inexpensive, fresh, and only a cheap cab ride away. (Trust me, order an entrée to split – you get tons of food at these places!).

Highly recommended!

Our first time to Cozumel and some friends turned us onto the Caribe Blu, what a jewel! The hotel itself is small, but its personality is BIG from it's crisp blue and white paint job, to the carefully manicured green grass and pristine pool area that overlooks the Carribean sea. Our room was large and sparsely furnished with authentic mexican decor (very groovy) and super clean. You can't expect five star accomodations, but you can expect comfy beds, hot water, air conditioning, and the sound of waves crashing all night as you sleep overlooking the deep blue sea. All rooms have balconies that overlook the ocean, and we had an unobstructed view of the sun dropping straight into the water every night. A great little restaurant is on site, and the staff always had a big smile (thanks Benji!) and were quick with the Margaritas (which came in HUGE glasses). New owners Robert and Eva were great with tips about town and shopping, both of which were close enough to walk to if you wanted some exercise, or only a short cab ride away, and made us feel like welcomed friends. But the best part......the Blu Angel Dive Shop located right on site. Experienced dive staff (Norman, Ronnie, Padro, and Skinny - you guys rock) picked us up on the dock right in front of the hotel and zipped us out to great dive sites each day. The gear included in the dive packages was new and in great condition. We were carefully briefed about the conditions and concerns of each site and our guides helped ensure we didn't miss out on seeing any of the local inhabitants - the undersea life was amazing. We can't wait to go back......

The service was like a good friend always looking out for you. The room was clean, air conditioned and had all the towels and clean glasses you needed. Every room has a view of the ocean and the pool. The location is central, but you really must like to walk if your not taking a taxi. We are walkers but may be a bit of an ordeal if you are not.
No worries a cab costs you $7.00. Canadian. Only stayed two days because we had the misfortune of having booked an all inclusive, not next time! What I liked he best is the choices you had for entertainment , food and beaches, your choices not the all inclusive hotel. The ferry to Cozumel was the least thing I liked as it can get a little rock and rolly! Rob and Eva and their staff will do nothing but please you! So Go!
