“A Gem in the Heart Of San Miguel”

For the past several years my wife and I have spent a month on the island of Cozumel for the purpose of scuba diving. We were, and are still, lucky to have found Hotel Posada Edem. The owners, Gustavo and his wife, are very friendly and helpful. They have become our friends. The rooms are clean. There showers have hot water 24 hours a day. The fans are quiet and reliable. The hotel is only 100 yards from the Zocalo which has live music and other cultural events on the week-ends. Good restaurants abound nearby. The rates are more than reasonable. If you want to spend your time and money enjoying the wonderful activities on the island, Hotel Posada Edem will extend your stay considerably. If you want to sit in a pretty room with elegant accoutrements, well, what can I say? Two thumbs up for Posada Edem.

Sincerely,

Don and Judith, The Alaskans

I asked a snorkling guide on the ferry to Cozumel where a decent cheap place to stay a few nights.
He advised the Posada Edem just one blk up from the ferry terminal in Cozumel turn left to the first street, then right half a blk in the middle on the left directly across from the taxi office.
There is a large water storage container on the roof with the name EDEM on it.
The lady is older and is making sure her daughter can have a good viable business.
It is very low key, fountain with live turtles in lobby, couple of friendly dogs, just like home.
200.00 pesos per night about $18.00 Cdn, save your money to buy silver!!

Room Tip: I only saw one room, it is set back from the street, so I don,t think there is a bad room. Don.t ta...

We only stayed one night here as the night club next door (very loud until 4am) combined with a neighbouring hotel visitor's TV at 11pm and then 6am meant about two hours sleep - not good if you want to dive the next day, not good anyway. The people seemd very nice, the room did what you need - fairly clean, very basic, private bathroom, working fan and hot water. Much as other reviews say. We moved to the Tamarindo B+B which is wonderful - twice the price but still good value.

Room Tip: No good for light sleepers

This hotel is very basic and could use some paint. It is not pretty and has no TV, telephone or air conditioning. However, it is clean and very cheap at only about $21 per night and every fourth night free. It has overhead fans. It has deadbolt locks on the doors which lock from both inside and out. A feature that I really like. They have a security box to store valuable items and even large enough for laptop computers. The hotel even has free wifi in the rooms with a good strong signal. I really liked the central location downtown. The better (and much more expensive hotels) are north and south of town and you would need a taxi every time you wanted to go shopping or to a restaurant. This hotel is not pretty but it is a great place to stay. You won't get anything as good in this price range.

Room Tip: One room seems as good as another.

Hi thanks for qualify our hotel, just explain that if we have rooms with air conditioning and television with cable, of course that slightly raises the cost to $30.00 USD.
I am absolutely right to say that painting is missing, last October we received lots of rain which humedecio the roofs of some rooms and look bad but we are already committed to repair them and so are pretty new account. Thanks again for your comments, so help us improve our service.

I absolutely LOVED this place. I kept on extending my stay, since I didnt want to leave. But finally the route of the Huricane Rina (which was forecasted to hit Cozumel hard) forced me to leave the island.
The rooms are extremely cheap, and not only do you get your own room and bathroom, you also get free wifi in the rooms. I stayed in one of the cheapest rooms, so I only had a fan (no TV and no air con), but the fan was very efficient, so I really didnt need more. AND I got a night free on my 6 night stay.
The environment is extremely friendly, although only a little English is spoken. Your room is kept clean and the staff go out of their ways to help you with your needs. And they have the most lovely friendly Siamese cat there, Misha, who lived with me for my entire stay. I was very worried for her when I left the island (because of the huricane). Hopefully she is still well and fine. She was so so sweet as well as the staff.

I can highly recommend everyone to stay there. Not only is is a lovely budget hotel, the location is also top top ! Only a few minutes strol from the boats. Forget about staying anywhere else !
I am only very sorry that I forgot to leave a good tip for the cleaning staff -I just was in too much of a hurry and forgot :(

If I ever come back to Cozumel, I wouldn't even bother looking for a different place to stay. Hotel Edem is like a second home !

If you are looking for a very cheap hotel that is clean, safe and very friendly, this is the place. Came to scuba dive and brand new at it. Gustavo gave me a great referral for a shop, that was inexpensive yet excellent. Met other divers at the hotel and talked the night away learning more about diving. Close enough to walk to everywhere but very quiet neighborhood.

You pay extra for t.v., fan, and air conditioning but the prices are so low that the additional cost is still very cheap. Wish they would get new linen, clean but somewhat rough.
