If you are not a diver, it is probably not the place you would want to be. We just came back from this resort totally disappointed. Do not recommend it for a family or romantic gateway. The beach is horrible and not safe at all. The service is ok; the rooms are very old and dark. You are not able to open windows and there are no screen doors either. The resort needs a complete make over. The buffet is good unlike the restaurants. The resort has a great diving school there though. If you are into that, you will meet a lot of new friends as almost everybody who stays there is totally into diving)))

I think if it wasn't for the service & the food (& our wedding of course), we would have thought twice about our vacation. The beauty & the people made our trip.
Pro's:
*The service was excellent, everyone was outstanding.
*The grounds were so beautiful & the wildlife was amazing.
*The food was great. We ate at the Steakhouse on the night of our wedding & had one of the best meals we had ever had. The Mexican restaurant & the buffets (except one night) were great & had a great selection.
*Drink's were always full but the lobby bar was by the best there. Bar at the theater was probably the worst.
*Housekeeping was good, creative towel characters everyday
Con's:
*Room was musty. Granted, we were close to the ocean, so I'm sure its normal for the location & every other place but I have a sensitive nose & it gave me a headache by morning.
*Beach was rocky. I had read some reviews & knew there would be some but had no idea just how bad it was
*Kept getting these ant type bugs in the bathroom. They would go away after the housekeeping came in, but within a couple hours, they were back.
*Power went out on our last night there. We were in the theater & had to use our cell phone to light the way to get us back to our room, they had nothing, in case of emergency.
*Maybe all the resorts do this but our wrist bands caused us some problems. We had rented a scooter & went into town. Our our way back we had a car circling us & stopped right in front of our hotel & waited. We had planned to keep going around the island but since it was the last hotel on the strip, we could have gotten in real trouble. Maybe it was not what we were thinking, but it seemed pretty strange. The only way they could have known to stop in front of our hotel before we got to it, was the wrist bands.
We are very torn if we would ever go back, if the pro's out the con's or not but all we know is we still had a great time, it was very relaxing just lounging on the beach with the beauty surrounding us.

Friendly staff, clean room, beautiful grounds, many activities. Not for me however. Too many families. Too many smokers. Food is average at best. Like a cruise ship on land.

The goal of this vacation was to convince my husband that there are better vacations than "florida" ! He likes his food, and is antsy by nature.... He loved it- is totally hooked. The small villa feel was perfect, food was great, and people were the best. The diving was great (only went once) snorkelling awesome as well. The beach (where we spent most of our time) was great- you can't really "walk the beach" like in other destinations, because iberostar is the last resort, and it's kind of mushy to walk back the other way. The entrance to the water is rocky, just use the ladder, it's only rocky for a bit and then sand again, so people still did the whole "stand in a circle and drink/talk". No one ever bugged us on the beach! Would not bring kids just because the rooms are small, and my children like to "boogie board". Having said this there were children there and the staff did a great job at keeping them entertained.
Drinks great and while we tipped some time it was not always necessary. Staff working constantly on grounds. I have the most sensitive skin on the planet- so I did get some sand flea bites- once i figured it out I used spray, and didn't have any further problem - my husband was never touched and thought I was crazy.
Some people just can't have a good time!

Room Tip: Just ask for a topper if the bed is too firm. Top floors seem to be less musty.

just back, after reading the reviews, some where right and some were wrong. We might as well start with the things that were right... the food not gorument, but various choice never went hungry (one with pasta chief allregic to seafood ). Grounds or should i say manicued jungle, from indegious species waiking around to being greeted by peacocks at your door it was a wonderfull experince. for the enterainment, many daily activities to the keep you busy if you dont want to dive. nightly the shows well produced but the actors didnt show much enthusiasim.( exception the mc and the mayian show) The beach party with sax combo made for a very romantic night. Staff very friendly and hard working. The gentlemen exchanging the towels in the morning was the same gentlemen making me laugh as the mc of the nightily shows. Now for the most important if you love to snorkel or dive this the place to be, nothing more need to be said EXCEPT if you want to a snorkle experience unlike any in Cozumel there is only ONE guy to see. That is CHARLA. He is at Albertos right beside the resort 250 metres right of the dive shop. BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK. Be pepared to go snorkeling for more than 45 minutes it is a half day experience, morning or afternoon it dose not matter CHARLA spends time showing and explaning the creatures of the reefs with many suprises. Now for the bad,,, the bed are hard!!! rooms are small but very well kept and i am not there for the room. DONT BE AFRAID TO LEAVE THE CLEANING STAFF A TIP YOU MIGHT FIND YOUR FRIDGE IS BETTER STAIKED.The beach is fine but bring your beach shoes to walk in to the water or for long strolls on the beach.
The wife and i found this resort the best one we have been to so far. We would highly reccomend this resort. NOT A PLACE FOR CHILDERN OR NIGHTLIFERS.

Just came back from 7 days at the Iberostar with my boyfriend. Overall we LOVED the Iberostar. Everyone we met at the resort was super friendly and helpful. There was a cool artist guy at the resort during the evenings that did spray paint murals too.
The room was fine, very quiet and clean. Grounds are well maintained and they have a lot of activities for their guests. Only thing we did not love was the food. So many items on the buffet, but not much that was tasty. Mexican and Steakhouse were really not impressive. Seems like the food is all packaged and not freshly prepared.
Albertos next store is delicious and the drinks are also very good.

On the last night before we had to go our camera was stolen with the memory card containing all our dive footage and such. We knew exactly when it was taken by the housekeeper and the hotel still could not manage to get it back for us. What a joke! The snorkeling sucks unless you like being confined to shallow water with nothing to see - boats zipping by the resort preclude a person going out near the reef without paying a tonne of money for the priveledge. The food was average - I had some real concerns about the temperature it was kept at. Much of the food seemed to be reused day after day and had gone bad without staff noticing. There did not seem to be any insulation between the walls of the rooms at all. We had to bang on the wall because the snoring of the person next door sounded like it was in the same room. We had to whisper to have any privacy because a conversation in one room may as well have been taking place in the other. Dressel Divers was awful - we were an hour early to go for our dive and yet still would have been left behind because there is no organization and nobody letting you know what boat you are supposed to be on. We paid for 12 dives in advance and used 4 of them before my sinus issues prevented me from continuing diving (severe headaches while and after diving). Dressel refused to refund the money for the dives we had paid for but not yet used (services had not even been rendered or scheduled). They made us go and pay a doctor to write a note before giving a refund. What is a doctor going to say about a blocked sinus cavity?? The doctor did not even speak our language what good was that supposed to do? Cats all around the food-not sanitary - there were also birds in the resteraunts often perched above where the food was sitting out - bird poop salad dressing anyone?

Room Tip: On the beach
