“Amazing vacation!”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

After reading through all the reviews on Tour Advisor I knew to ask for a "beach front room". We could literally be on the beach in 5 steps from our patio and within 15 steps we could be in the ocean!

There is really nothing to complain about. Our room was clean, the safe worked, the water was hot and they cleaned it every single day and gave us plenty of bottled water.

The food was ok. You have to go into knowing the food won't be perfect. There was a buffet that I didn't care for, but no one can be pleased 100% of the time. The drinks were good, sometimes there was a long line at the bar, but not too often. Just ask for another shot of liquor in your drink if you want it stronger. Make sure to tip the bartender a buck here and there and your wait staff when you're dining. They work SUPER hard to please you.

The pool was very refreshing, the beach front is awesome, there were always plenty of shaded chairs available. There was always a volleyball game going on and everyone always seemed to be enjoying themselves! We went on the glass bottom boat snorkel tour, which picked us up from the pier on the property and it was an amazing experience! You can't go wrong with Sunscape as long as you keep in mind you ARE in Mexico and No one is perfect.

When you are flying in SKIP the whole "Occidental reward program" trip to the mainland. They will promise you the WORLD. Cheap car rental (which we received), tickets to the tequila tour and tickets to the Chakanaab park, along with a ferry ride to and from the mainland. Not worth it. It takes ALL DAY LONG. We also did the reward program that Sunscape presented to us . It was EXACTLY 90 minutes. They took us next door to the adults only Secrets, we had breakfast, went back to Sunscape and listened to the presentation and we received the $100 glass bottom boat excursion and $25 to spend in the gift shop. To me, that was worth it. We saved $125 AND the glass bottom boat snorkel trip was awesome!

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a "beach front room". We stayed in room 2911, it had double beds and...

Expedia's info stated no kids till 6/30/2014 we show up 6/14/2014 and there are kids all over. Expedia also stated free wifi nope you have to pay $40.The food is horrible and inconsistant. There are 4 restaurants which all suck and when they have dine in evenings the menu stays the same. The room service food is horrible. They also do buffets which are really gross. I could barely eat anything in the 7 days we stayed and when I did i ended up getting sick. They wash the cups at the bars with soap and clorox and then re-contaminate them with the water from the sink to rinse them. Our ice box was not restocked everyday and we had to keep calling for wash cloths. You also have to wait forever for drinks, food, room service, etc. The beach and snorkling is awesome, the spa is amazing, about 30 min from airport. Unless they change for the better I will not come back to this resort mainly because of the food.

We just stayed at Sunscape and will never do that again. We didn't get the room type we ask for and staff kept putting us off. Had a hard time getting drinks, which they were always running out of mixers. If they run out, they just mix it anyway. Staff has a hard time understanding you and will at times get your room service order wrong. Coffee is only available from 7 am to 9 pm.. Food was fair at best. A friend had a small lizard in her room and couldn't get the staff to come get it out all week. If they ask you to take a tour of the Secrets resort next door, it turns out to be a timeshare tour. Please consider another resort and make this your last choice, even on a budget.

Room Tip: Select a floor on 2nd or third floor away from lizards!!

You get what you pay for- if your looking for a cheap trip and you manage your expectations this place will work just fine for you. The first room we were given the AC did not work properly- we stayed there 2 nights and then moved to another room that was MUCH better. The food is not great. I have been to a lot of all inclusive resorts with much better food. We found that the mexican restaurant and the other restaurant near the pool were probably the best for dinner. We did not like the Italian place (and bring bug spray if you plan to eat over here and outside- in fact just bring bug spray with you on your trip). I think the drinks were watered down and the "better" liquor always seemed to "run out" at night but the drinks are still good and the bartenders were always nice. Tip- bring your own insulated mug... they will be happy to fill that up for you instead of their little glasses and your frozen beverage will stay frozen much longer :). This resort is not close to town and other stuff to do- so expect to pay a little bit to get anywhere via cab. We went diving with Dive House which is on site at the hotel- you will not be disappointed to dive with them- they were great and we ended up getting scuba diver certified with them because we had such a great time and got great personal service from them.

We rarely stay at all-inclusive resorts, but decided to try out Sunscape Sabor last week. We were in need of a cheap getaway, and I have to say that we had a great time. Our room was clean and comfortable, the weather was awesome, and let's face it -- you can't beat the price. The staff was fantastic, and very friendly and welcoming. The food is just ok, but again -- you get what you pay for. Really, it's hard to feel upset about the steak being a little tough when you get to gnaw on it while staring at the ocean.

We took full advantage of the snorkels, paddle boards, and Hobie Cats that are there for guests' use. The snorkeling was amazing, not surprisingly. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone who isn't seeking luxury but wants a fun, low-key getaway. And really, if you can't possibly stand to wait a few minutes for service, or if the occasional smell of sewage horrifically offends you, perhaps a Mexico vacation isn't for you.

Sunscape Sabor met every expectation! It is a great value for the cost. It is not a 5 star hotel with gold faucets. However, everything is clean and well maintained. The gardens are pretty. The entire beach is raked everyday. Snorkeling from the beach and the pier is excellent. We saw a nurse shark (harmless to humans), a stingray and numerous schools of colorful fish right in front of the resort. The greatest asset to this resort is the overwhelmingly friendly staff. I'd like to thank a few staff members who made my vacation exceptional. The Entertainment Staff, especially Manuel, got people involved. He even got me up to learn to salsa. Evening entertainment was great for all ages which was followed by a DJ for the younger group. Thank you Ricardo, Nora, Angel, Gilberto, Marcus and Juan Carlos for wonderful service. Thank you Luis and Ismael for tasty drinks. Thank you Tania for your friendly smile and keeping my room clean, stocked with plenty of water and free of sand. I especially enjoyed not wearing any wristband and no reservations required--just show up at any time and any restaurant and enjoy a spectacular 5 course meal. This resort offers the BEST vacation at a reasonable price. My only recommendation is to offer soft serve ice cream cones at the Seaside Snack Bar.
Thank you for great memories.
