“A Diver's Paradise”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

Most of the diver's I know (myself included) want a place to stay that is quiet and comfortable. Roberta and her staff offer just that. The rooms are spacious, and the added touch of towels folded into different shapes with flower petals on them is adorable. Roberta provides a Continental Breakfast each morning of juice, coffee, cereal, fresh baked bread, and fruit. Just a light meal before diving. There is also a swimming pool to refresh in during the hot afternoons. If you are looking for a resort type of hotel this is not it. The price beats almost every other place on Cozumel.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great.

If you are a diver Roberta and the gang make this the best deal on the island. The dive shop and pier that they leave from is directly across the street. We have been diving and staying here for about ten (10) years and it is great. Nothing fancy but you will not be able to beat the service and it is comfortable and very clean and well maintained. When we go we are able to dive five (5) dives per day (weather permitting). You can't get that anywhere but on a live aboard. If you are a diver this is the place.

The air conditioner is industrial strength, the beds are comfortable, and the staff is friendly. The wifi is a little shaky in the room but great on the lanai. It's the perfect location if you are diving with the co-owned Scuba Shack. There are presentable places to eat across the street or within reasonable walking distance.

The one serious caveat is that the tile floors are extremely slick when at all wet.

If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful vacation without "tourist" everywhere this is the place. A great diving package with very personal service. Nice clean rooms, private pool, and great staff make the Villas a place you'll visit again and again. Our family looks at Roberta's place as our "home away from home"!

We came to Village Tan Kah with my aunt/uncle who visit there several times a year. There are 8 unique rooms. They are clean and simple. We loved the towel decorations the housekeepers made for us each day. We love that there is no TV or phone - you don't need it! This was truly a vacation to relax and keep it simple! In additional to scuba diving every day, we enjoyed sunbathing and playing at the pool, and a few day trips to the beaches and other sites. There is a jeep rental place across the street. Also, the best scuba company in Cozumel is tied to this property. We would have never found Village Tan Kah without knowing someone who stays here, so we are very grateful to now be part of such a cool getaway place!

Room Tip: The shark room has 2 bedrooms and good lighting in the bathrooms. Coconut room does not have good li...

We've been diving in Cozumel for close to 20 years. About 15 years ago we found Roberta and Villa Tan Kah as well as her dive shop, Scuba Shack, across the street (TIP: don't confuse the Scuba Shack logo which is being used by another dive shop----always make sure you are communicating with Roberta and her Scuba Shack). Over those 20 years we've sadly watched Cozumel morph from a sleepy little island to a cruise ship mega destination. The throngs of people in town when 5 cruise ships have docked is overwhelming to say the least. The point of that depressing observation is that Villa Tan Kah is our oasis from the hustle and bustle of the Cozumel tourism trade. If you are looking for an all inclusive, all you can eat, caloric overload, with screaming children running amok, then please don't come here. Villa Tan Kah has great little apartments, which are always cleaned by a lovely staff. The grounds are tranquil with a refreshing pool. The included breakfast is just right, and the ambiance cannot be equaled. The diving at Scuba Shack is just the best. A small operation with good dive masters and fast boats, I don't know of any other dive shop on the island (or anywhere we have ever been diving), that has fresh baked slices of coconut cake/chocolate cake/pumpkin cake for the divers during their safety stop-----MMMMMMMM!!!!! Even if we weren't divers (which tends to reflect the majority of the patrons), I would stay here.
