This is a good hotel for the cost. The rooms and facilities are clean and well maintained. The main pool is large and had lots of activities for everyone during the day. The seaside pool was a little small but adequate and the swim up bar had good service. The Hot Tube was not hot but had some amazing views of the sunset and leaving cruise ships. Once they get the expansion area completed it is going to be great. The locations is a little was from downtown (about $8 cab ride each way) but right near the main cruise ship dock so there is plenty of shopping and other things to do within walking distance. The food was only ok at best in the main buffet. We did not get to try either specialty restaurant due to the fact they required long pants and reservations filled up fast. All in all it is a good place for the cost and a positive experience.

Just returned from a weeks stay at Park Royal. We had a large party (5 kids, 3 teens, 28 adults) who we're all there for a wedding. The hotel was nice enough, but I must say the staff wasnt the friendliest or most accomodating. That being said, I noticed rude tourists harassing them on several occasions so I don't know what came first the chicken or the egg. The staff also didn't speak a whole lot of English so it's something to think about. Spanish speakers in our party so it was no problem, but I saw a lot of awkwardness especially with the taxi situation. And it was hot and humid as all get out so walking was NOT an option. On that note, beware! We inquired about a beach excursion to Mr. Sancho's beach party a few miles down the road and the taxi drivers all raved about it and the activities guy even had pricing and info for us so 19 of us headed over by taxi only to find that all of the water slides, trampolines and beach activities were closed for the day (monday) because no cruise ships were docked that day. So we basically had to pay for food and drinks and swimming in the pool and ocean, when we could have done that at our hotel for free! Then to add insult to injury we were charged MORE to get back to our hotel by these dishonest taxi drivers who flat out told me that was how they had to make a living! Whatever, we didn't let it ruin our time...Karma exists! Back to the Park Royal, the pools were OK although it seemed like there were too many people or sunblock or something in them because sometimes they didn't look very inviting. Im hoping it was just all of the sunblock from so many bodies! The infinity pool was awesome, but people were teaching their kids to swim near the bar. The food was OK, I've had better from an all inclusive buffet but it wasnt bad especially if you're feeding children morning noon and night! The specialty restaurants dont take reservations by phone so a long line forms at noon and in 30 mins theyre all full. The food is better in those 2 restaurants but no kids under 12 in the italian restaurant, but you can order off of the italian menu in the mexican restaurant! The snacks were good and plentiful as we're the drinks! Bartenders were the friendliest of course and we tipped them well so we always got drinks quickly! The timeshare situation is the same as anywhere, just say a firm no thank you multiple times and then just turn and walk away and theyll get the message. Overall it was a great vacation because our group had such a wonderful time together. However I would definitely not return to this hotel mainly because they didn't offer free wifi and I place friendly service high on my list of must have's!

Room Tip: Floors above 6 have an ocean view

This resort was amazing as a whole. Since there were many wonderful things about this resort I will be splitting them up to sections.

Rooms: 10/10
We had the biggest room, which was a royal suite and it was very spacious and neat.

Cleanliness: 10/10
Very neat and clean, daily cleaning and very cute towel animals!

Food: 10/10
The food was very good. The Buffet was very good for variety and taste, The Italian was very fancy and good tasting, and The Mexican was very tasty too. The Snack Bar was very good Including Buffalo Wings, Nachos, Burgers/Cheeseburgers, Hot dogs, Salsa, and Corn Chips (Like the ones on Nachos) Condiments are included in snack shack.

Staff: 11/10
The staff was the most wonderful thing. They were very humorous, well working, and worked with pride. I would like to bring out a group that really made the whole trip and that was the Entertainment Staff (you know the people who setup games and activities) and someone in that group was the person who made the fun, who really worked for pride and someone who was fun, energetic, and funny. That was Jesus (pronounced as Hesus) you can tell that that is him because he works at the main pool and he wears a yellow STAFF shirt, he is one of the entertainers.

Pool/Entertainment: 11/10
Yes it is larger than the whole and that is because the Entertainment was wonderful. I promise that you will never get bored at this resort, there is always something to do! The Entertainment Staff have really done a great job to bring a fun filled and amazing experience to new tourists or old time visitors. I think every few or couple nights there is a program/act in the theater, but besides that there are Karaoke during some nights (also at theater), there are games hosted at the pool every day (Crazy Game (You will find out when you get there :D) and Pool Volleyball and many others.). There are also different music groups that play under the lobby.

Overall this was a great experience for the whole family. A great thing about this resort is that there is no certain group that enjoys more than the other, it is family friendly and can be Adult related too but never too wild there are many bars but nothing crazy. Everyone turns to a bright side while stepping in, and one special thing... No matter what happens as long as you enjoy yourself and have fun, you now have control of your dreams.

Room Tip: The best room which was on floor 5 it is 2523 It has the biggest room.

You definitely get what you pay for. The food for lunch and dinner is below average. The breakfast is just average. The drinks are made from cheap alcohol and mixers. The restaurant food is just average as well. The hotel itself is beautiful and nicely updated. The hotel is close to town.

There is no complimentary wifi anywhere in the hotel. It costs money and it is not cheap.
I personally would not go back to the hotel due to the fact that it seems all of their money was invested in the hotel itself and not the food or drinks, Id rather stay somewhere a little more dated for nicer drinks and food.

Room Tip: Get a room located away from the elevators as the noise carries.

This was my 11th wedding anniversary trip. We were very excited and read good things about this resort. We were disappointed to say the least. First we sent the hotel a message informing them it was our anniversary and we wanted a king bed in our room. Upon arrival we learned we had a double bed room. We asked if we could wait for a king bed or switch later and were told no. We ended up having to push the two double beds together just to feel as though we were sleeping together. There was a banging noise that kept us up for two nights, we kept calling the front desk and they said they would send someone, but no one ever came. Then when we tried to call several more times, they just said security came and didn't hear a noise outside your room so he left. My husband finally figured out it was the fan on the a/c unit so he had to turn the fan to low setting just so we could sleep. Needless to say this made the room extremely warm and uncomfortable. Then after 3 days of being there my husband went to the fitness center and a guy we had never seen before tells us we aren't on some list and we have to pay $6 every time we come. We were done at this point. It took for me to put in a formal complaint with the travel agency to get anywhere. However, nothing was solved until 3pm on 7/17 and we were leaving the morning of 7/19. The front desk and operator really dropped the ball. The beach is really just a small area of sand, and there was lots of construction going on. However, I will say the staff was really nice. The restaurants were good and the staff at all the restaurants were amazing, they really helped make the trip bearable. They were eager to please. And the ocean view was lovely. The only thing they did to resolve the matter was change our room and give us access to the gym for a day and a half. If they would pay more attention to detail and service it would be a nice budget resort.

Room Tip: Only choose ocean views on a high level, it's beautiful and helps with the noise from the karaok...

We had a great time at Park Royal. It is close to town and close to alot of attractions. The only issue we had was the time share presentations. The host that took us around was great and we were told it was a 90 minute presentation. We were 2.5 hours into it telling the sales lady no and she would not take no for an answer. Stay away from the time share presentations. The property is nice enough to have people come to without the pushy time share presentations. I might not return just for that reason alone. If I do I would definitely not attend one of these presentations.
