BREAKFAST : is included and served 7am-10am on the 2nd floor. It is actually really nice! Some items they had: eggs, chorizo, sausage, waffle maker, potatoes, chicken/or beef, lots of fruit varieties (maybe like 5-6 kinds), hardboiled eggs, a señora that makes you personalized omelets, yogurt, cottage cheese, and fresh squeezed OJ, grapefruit juice and sometimes even carrot juice!
BEDROOM: we had an ocean view (room 504) and I would highly recommend this room. It is at the end of the bldg so only one neighbor and you get sun on your balcony in the early hours. This is good to dry clothes on the chairs and racks. Also the view is amazing! You get to see the cruise ships come in, blue ocean and also all of downtown on the right side of your balcony.
The bed was so comfy and room was always clean! They also give you two robes. Soaps are lime scented. TV had over 100 channels, although only 2-4 played English speaking. If you buy your room through Orbitz App on your phone, you get good deals. We got this room for $100/nt.
LOCATION: in the middle of everything and we felt completely safe. Staff are friendly. It's about 10 min walk from ferry, which is $13USD (as of today's date). Take a right once you leave the ferry area, hotel is on the left (obviously). It's next to a rug/lighting store. You will go through the glass doors and up the escalator.
CAR? : You can take a right out of the hotel, turn the first right down the street and rent a car for $35-38/all day. Bargain with them and walk away if they say no. They will call you back lol. I forgot the company name.. It's called adventure or something. We thought the roads were safe for scooters as well. Everyone says it's not safe, but we saw tons of youngsters on them and we thought it was safe roads. Typical price is $40-45 for a scooter or a car (around same price)... Just bargain. They had really nice honda scooters that were in excellent condition.
WHERE TO SNORKEL?? Here's the secret. Take a left out of the hotel towards señor frogs. Go all the way down (about 10-15 minute walk) until you see Hotel Cozumel on the left. There should be a small dive shop DIRECTLY across from it (it's hard to find from the street. DONT enter the "dive club" that's just a block before it. It's guarded). Enter this dive shop, and just walk straight to the water. No one will ask. You will see the steps to get into the water on the left. We left our clothes/bags near the stairs for 4 hrs. It was safe. Find the Chichen Itza statue under the water! Won't tell you where... But it's there if you explore.
Another place is Money Bar. It requires a scooter or car to get there. However, the current is strong, it is a popular tour spot for boats to bring tourists, but you can do it for free if you rent a vehicle. The currents push you to the left of the Money Bar restaurant. We just floated along and swam uphill against current near the reef afterwards (it's easier). Or you can start ahead and end at money bar. We saw Octopus, sting rays, lobster, all sorts of fish.
POOL: they do have a nice pool but we didn't use it. Great for kids, there was always at least one person in it when we walked by.
