We got a deal on Casa Mexicana through hotels.com, and were satisfied with the value. This is a very clean and well-maintained hotel. We stayed on the second story facing the neighborhood behind the hotel. The room was large with a large bathroom (for a hotel)-- everything worked well and the beds were comfortable. Apart from hallway noise, the room was quiet, but next time I think we would try for ocean view. We had a pleasant balcony but if you want to dry gear, the folks who recommend a corner are probably onto something! Breakfast was included in our rate and it was a good and varied buffet. Plenty of options, even for the somewhat picky among us!. We came primarily to dive, and preferred this option to an all-inclusive. Our dive operator collected us at the hotel, and we were walking distance from almost everything in the afternoon and evening. There are lots of great food options in easy reach. And of course, the daily towel animals were fun. Certainly the place radiates a sense of pride of management and welcome.

Great hotel, breakfast (include), price is unbelievable cheap, the include breakfast is fantastic;
Just in the downtown, easy to go anywhere, three blocks to ferry. 10 mins taxi to CZM airport!
If you are stranger, you might hard to find the hotel, ask local to help, or just few dollar taxi cost to there!
Something, I don’t like, the safebox key which you have to ask front desk to get it and sign the form to agree to pay US$50 if you lose it, another thing when you need swimming towels, they need to hold your ID (passport) until you return , I was unhappy for this.

BREAKFAST : is included and served 7am-10am on the 2nd floor. It is actually really nice! Some items they had: eggs, chorizo, sausage, waffle maker, potatoes, chicken/or beef, lots of fruit varieties (maybe like 5-6 kinds), hardboiled eggs, a señora that makes you personalized omelets, yogurt, cottage cheese, and fresh squeezed OJ, grapefruit juice and sometimes even carrot juice!

BEDROOM: we had an ocean view (room 504) and I would highly recommend this room. It is at the end of the bldg so only one neighbor and you get sun on your balcony in the early hours. This is good to dry clothes on the chairs and racks. Also the view is amazing! You get to see the cruise ships come in, blue ocean and also all of downtown on the right side of your balcony.
The bed was so comfy and room was always clean! They also give you two robes. Soaps are lime scented. TV had over 100 channels, although only 2-4 played English speaking. If you buy your room through Orbitz App on your phone, you get good deals. We got this room for $100/nt.

LOCATION: in the middle of everything and we felt completely safe. Staff are friendly. It's about 10 min walk from ferry, which is $13USD (as of today's date). Take a right once you leave the ferry area, hotel is on the left (obviously). It's next to a rug/lighting store. You will go through the glass doors and up the escalator.

CAR? : You can take a right out of the hotel, turn the first right down the street and rent a car for $35-38/all day. Bargain with them and walk away if they say no. They will call you back lol. I forgot the company name.. It's called adventure or something. We thought the roads were safe for scooters as well. Everyone says it's not safe, but we saw tons of youngsters on them and we thought it was safe roads. Typical price is $40-45 for a scooter or a car (around same price)... Just bargain. They had really nice honda scooters that were in excellent condition.

WHERE TO SNORKEL?? Here's the secret. Take a left out of the hotel towards señor frogs. Go all the way down (about 10-15 minute walk) until you see Hotel Cozumel on the left. There should be a small dive shop DIRECTLY across from it (it's hard to find from the street. DONT enter the "dive club" that's just a block before it. It's guarded). Enter this dive shop, and just walk straight to the water. No one will ask. You will see the steps to get into the water on the left. We left our clothes/bags near the stairs for 4 hrs. It was safe. Find the Chichen Itza statue under the water! Won't tell you where... But it's there if you explore.

Another place is Money Bar. It requires a scooter or car to get there. However, the current is strong, it is a popular tour spot for boats to bring tourists, but you can do it for free if you rent a vehicle. The currents push you to the left of the Money Bar restaurant. We just floated along and swam uphill against current near the reef afterwards (it's easier). Or you can start ahead and end at money bar. We saw Octopus, sting rays, lobster, all sorts of fish.

POOL: they do have a nice pool but we didn't use it. Great for kids, there was always at least one person in it when we walked by.

10 minutes walk from ferry with your bags if you are up to it. Worth getting an ocean view room, the ones on the 4th floor have excellent views.
Clean hotel, friendly staff, great breakfasts, can't fault it. Gets a bit busy outside when the cruise ships unload 8,000 people for the day but when they've gone the place is very quiet.
Scooter hire booked through the hotel as well, Espana Scooters. Reliable.

Room Tip: Ocean view.

We have stayed for 3 nights in Casa Mexicana at the beginning of February. We have booked one of the Ocean Front rooms and I believe they are totally worth the extra price. Option to go out into balcony which is very private, overlooks the water (and many of the cruise ships) is great to have. We were amazed how quiet the room was even with the main road just below you. Breakfast is served as massive buffet of continental and more Mexican options to choose from. The only minus for us was the lack of proper bar where you could get coffee or quick drink. There is small drink stand in the main lobby but very often it wasn't occupied by staff. Otherwise great location with clean rooms at decent price.

We stayed here for 2 nights before boarding a cruise. The staff were nice. The higher floored rooms are nicer with a view. The breakfast is OK but the town restaurants are cheap so its better to head out. I would recomend this hotel!

We stayed at Casa Mexicana and really liked it. It fit our needs as divers... We had tile floors and a big deck to hang our dive gear to dry each night. It has a great central location within walking distance from grocery stores, cruise ship shopping malls, or the real shops along the main street and back streets. Tons of restaurants and bars in walking distance. For the nights/days you want to travel further there are a line of taxi's waiting right across the street to take you places. Our room was cleaned daily. The bar was really small so don't count on hanging out at your hotel bar at night. The breakfast was awesome with lots of variety. We will definitely stay at the Casa Mexicana when we go back... you can't be it for the quality and the price!
