Just returned from six nights in Cantamar 201. Absolutely loved it. As others have mentioned, the location is away from the bustle of the shopping district, but close enough to walk to almost all the great restaurants. Pancho's Backyard and Guidos, two of our favorites, are on the north end of the town center, no more than a mile from the condos. The amenities, view, and recreational areas ( pool, lounging beach, access to the water for snorkeling ) are all outstanding. Rooms are spacious, kitchen is well-equipped, and WiFi to boot! Planes arriving a short distance away are not a big bother. They're are only about six-eight flights per day, and none during early morning or late evening. Entrance to a marina is about 100 yds north, so watching the comings and goings of boats is entertaining along with the arrival of several cruise ships each day. With the marina so near, boats often pass within a few hundred yards of the condo seawall, making it dangerous to snorkel or swim very far out. There's not much to see snorkeling once you leave the shoreline anyway, but ocean swimmers may feel a bit hemmed in. As the internet photos indicate, your private balcony ( very spacious ) is just a few yards from the seawall, and sunsets from there can be spectacular .

The 201's second level location was ideal for us. Just a few steps up from the street, and you're at your front door. No internal stairs to climb. If you have a car, ample parking is right in front of the units.

During our stay, we had several days of unusually high westerly winds, gusting up to 25 mph. No boats were allowed out of the marina, so scuba and snorkeling trips were cancelled. If that happens while you're there, we recommend a trip to Punta Sur, a beautiful beachfront park which is protected from westerly winds. Waters there were calm and breezes mild at the same time it was rough and very windy on the west coast of the island. There are hammocks, snorkel gear rental, food, beach chairs, changing area, lockers, and an inland lagoon on which boat tours are available in the afternoon ( you might spot crocodiles ). On the way there, be sure to climb to the top of the lighthouse on the road in, which, by the way , is one of the most poorly kept roads on the island, but well worth the jarring journey when you reach the beach.

Cantamar 201 could easily accommodate six adults, making it an exceptional value. There is a King Bed in the ocean bedroom, and two double beds in the street side bedroom. We would go back without hesitation.

We loved our time in Paradise at this condo. The decor is beautiful old world Mexico and original art is everywhere, the condo comes fully equipped and the beds are so comfortable. The pool is clean and, if you dive or snorkel, you will love the rinse tank and outdoor shower. We will be back in Cozumel next year.
Our only issue was the number of stairs from the beach to the condo but , if you are able, the trip is worth it.

We loved it . Diane is so organized with her instructions it made it so relaxing to get settled and enjoy our stay. Right on the water to enjoy great snorkelling or walk 3 doors down to dive with Aldora Dive shop. About a 15 min walk to town or flag a cap for $4. It was great . Go buy food at Mega market to snack or cook on your own or eat at Caza Cuzamil for Mayan food or La Terraza for seafood and Italian or La mission for Mexican, Margarita Ville for American. For a day trip ride the ferry to playa de Carmen only pay one way so you can come back on your time not the ferry schedule. Walk a block pasted the bus station and 3 blocks up on the right is a van ser ice and for $7 a person one way they'll take you to the Tulum ruins. You'll pay 57 pesos not American to see them. It's hot and has mosquitoes so buy bug spray. Take water. Take a van back its faster, cheaper and more reliable then the bus .

We stayed at this condo for 10 glorious days and I just can't say enough great things about it. The two of us both work with the public, so when we go on vacation, we want peace and quiet and not some big, loud party type complex. With only 8 units, it seems that it would be impossible for that to happen. even better for us, we were the only two there for three days! Once other people did arrive though, it was still nice and quiet. We only hung out in the pool once, because we loved the snorkeling in the ocean. Most days we were the only two in the beach area. This beach is another awesome feature, that I haven't seen in any other Cozumel rentals. Most other places we looked just had a pool and a concrete pad. Cantamar had two outside levels. The first level had the pool and you took a few steps down to the beach area complete with sand. We got a car a couple of days and explored the other side of the island. We ate at so many wonderful places. La Mission and Kinta were two of our favorites. Also we went to Los Chilango's which is a restaurant set in someone's living room. You get to eat local food with local people and it's incredibly inexpensive. Absolutely cannot wait to return!

I've been taking vacations in Mexico for 25 years + and have always done "all inclusives" until this time. We rented a condo in Cozumel (Cantamar #303) and it was the best experience I've had in Mexico. This place is PARADISE! It is right on the ocean and some of the best snorkeling I've ever done. The views from the condo are amazing! The owners have thought of everything you need for to make this your home. The restaurant and grocery information provided by Jill (owner) was very helpful. We cannot wait to return!

The owner of the condo, Diane Tealander, sent us a detailed manual of all the great place to scuba, snorkel, eat and have other wonderful adventures. Diane went over and above in offering useful information so that we could make full use of our vacation time.

The accommodations were clean, well decorated and maintained to assure a comfortable stay. The view was especially beautiful at sunset looking across the water. The best snorkeling was right off the balcony just beyond the pool. No need to drive, cab or walk if you want to wake up and go for a morning dive. Also, the other visitors in the building were friendly and easy to connect with if you like a little neighborly conversation. Awesome describes this place.

I plan to visit again - soon.

Room Tip: Like the second floor for view. The second floor for walk out convenience and keeping an eye on chil...

Having been our first time to Cozumel, we didn’t know what to expect. The owner's incredibly detailed booklet as well as her emails, answering all my endless questions, put us at ease and gave us an incredible week. The snorkeling right off the pier was the highlight. How convenient! And the abundant fish made it that much more outstanding. I also saw eels, baby rays, a flounder, puffer fish, just to name a few. Because this was a relaxing week, we didn’t make a lot of plans to do all the activities on the island. We stayed put, but I didn’t feel cheated one bit!
As far as restaurants, the ones we visited were delicious and all very reasonably priced. We went to Pancho’s Backyard—twice—for their incredible margaritas, and lunch too. We visited Guido’s (DON’T miss the garlic bread, and make sure you sit in the garden section). The scallops were delicious. Rolandi’s was very good and we sat right on the water’s edge! I had fish kabobs—AWESOME! The service at these restaurants was top-notch! Very attentive. For a delicious, authentic (and VERY cheap) Mexican breakfast, don’t miss the Museum restaurant. The only place we went where we weren’t that impressed was the Golf Course for breakfast. The food wasn’t bad, but after experiencing all the great places mentioned above, we were a little disappointed.
We did rent a car for a day, so we could go see the other side of the island. Whoa, that was an experience! We didn’t need anything special, and with their VW convertible, that’s what you get—nothing special! It’s basically a car frame sitting on top of 4 wheels and an engine! We got quite a chuckle out of the whole thing. Hey, it did the job, and only cost us $40USD (plus gas). We used Rentadora ISIS—very friendly people to work with. Just don’t look for a cup holder in your rental! We stopped at Playa Bonita for fish tacos—SO GOOD and huge portions! We stopped at the ruins at San Gervasio. If you go, go early in the day because it gets HOT there. Lots of iguanas everywhere too.
It was a pleasure getting to know the resident little fur babies, Donatella and Ashley. They were well fed (and loved) and I enjoyed seeing them every evening. It made me miss my kitties back home a little less.
This was an extremely comfortable home with the most spectacular views. We seriously felt so right at home. The attention-to-detail and genuine concern for the guests was so evident. WE WILL BE BACK!

Room Tip: Condo 202 has a great view.
