“Not the Best”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

A group of 7 of us decided not to do a Carnival excursion and went to the taxi area to get prices for Mr. Sanchos. The man in charge kept telling us we would have a better experience with Ocean VIP Beach club. We later realized he must receive some type of monetary compensation to push this particular resort so hard. He more or less pressured us into choosing Ocean VIP. He also stated that the all inclusive price for Mr. Sanchos did not include the inflatables. We had read that it did. He told us our taxi ride would be $28 for the 7 of us and then it would cost us $60 per person for an all inclusive price which would include all you care to eat and drink along with the other amenities- water inflatables, kayaks, etc. We made sure we asked him the price for the taxi ride back to the ship and he told us it would be the same rate.

When we arrived at the VIP beach "club", we were greeted by a man who said he would take care of us during our time there. He did provide good service and was very attentive and took our orders for food and drink and delivered them quickly. The food was average.

The biggest drawbacks of this place were the beach and the constant parading of sellers. A group of about 5 people including children, constantly walked up and down the rows between the loungers with every type of souvenir you could imagine. I would say that there was never more than a 10 minute break between the constant sales pitches for each item.

The loungers were so close together and crammed into a small area that it was hard to feel comfortable.

We also were disappointed with the beach area. We were not prepared for the rocks on the sandy floor in the water. I asked the original person who pushed this beach if there was sand or rocks in the beach area and he told us the beach was sandy and there weren't any rocks. You can barely avoid the rocks in the water and the first time you enter the water, you will either stub your toe on the rocks or if you see the rocks and try to step on them, some of them are sharp enough to cut your feet. You definitely need water/sand shoes if you choose this excursion.

When we were ready to leave, we again asked the rate to return back to our boat and we were told the same rate- $28. When we got back to town, the cab driver said that our ship was at the first pier he came to. We told him that we were at the pier further down into Cozumel (I think that it is called the International Pier). At this point, the driver got huffy and said we would need to pay more money for the taxi ride since it was further. We explained that we had paid $28 for the first taxi ride and we wanted to return to the same place. He argued and said he had a rate chart and our taxi ride would be $32. While the price wasn't much more, our whole group already felt we had paid more than what we had received and we wouldn't pay the extra fare. The driver made some comments under his breath about this being our vacation and not paying the correct fare would be up to us.

I would not recommend this excursion to anyone. It was overpriced, crowded, and the beach area was not easy to enjoy.

“Great choice for beach break, you decide what you want to spend.”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

Have been to Cozumel on multiple cruises and have tried the bigger beach clubs, but since the price has gone up, we decided to try something new. There is no need to do a ship excursion, when it's so easy to do on your own.The taxi driver suggested Ocean Beach and it exceeded our expectations. You have the choice of doing an all inclusive visit or to "pay as you go". You can have a lounge chair and umbrella as long as you are going to order some food and drink. We thought the prices were reasonable and the service was EXCELLENT! (Francisco) I even went for a massage and was impressed with the quality and the price. It was a $14 cab ride from the pier and a bucket of great Mexican beer was $16. Remember most everything else you can negotiate the price. The all-inclusive price was $60 when you arrive at the front, but was $50 when you were at the beach. Great choice to "sit right here and have another beer in Mexico!"

This place cost 65$ pp was like 5 or 10 more to have them take you our to reef to dive one tank it has certified instructors that do their best to show you everything under the sea they also have snorkeling very reasonable the prices.

You are on a beach they have chairs and servers to bring you drink and food they have lots of water toys trampoline's and slides parasailing, jet skis everything you need for fun with the family nice place to buy booze and trinkets too.
They have clean maintained washrooms too.
Negotiate with cabs at port you can get them down.

The VIP Ocean Beach Club has a extra charge if you want to make your stay for the day all incl food drinks was not bad price sorry just cant remember it think it was 40$

After beach and diving we went to flea markets downtown was getting good prices at port too not bad for silver t shirts etc.

I liked Cozumel more in the 70s to much like Cancun now.

“Twice thrilled”
Reviewed 24 September 2013

We are "off the beaten path" folks, so the first time we landed in Cozumel with Royal Carribbean, we took the taxi cab driver's advice and headed here. Everyone was nice, the food was good, and most importantly we were able to relax beyond the crowds.

6 months later, we landed again and this time were one of the first ones off the ship so we could get to this beach ASAP. Great 2nd experience. We are not big drinkers, so we eat and drink a la carte and save quite a bit of $ over the all-inclusive price.

Getting ready to cruise in a couple of weeks and our day at Ocean VIP is probably what we are most looking forward to.

“Too crowded but good prices. Its ok. Do not purchase online!!”
Reviewed 14 September 2013 via mobile

Great for those of us who don't plan or want expensive excursions. This was recommended by the taxi drivers as the "best". It clearly wasn't, but definitely worth it. It is VERY populated, lots and lots of people so don't listen to the website. Its advertised wrong. Drinks are cheap (bucket of dos x for $16) food is not super expensive but not cheap. Clean. But too many people selling. The first hour was frustrating with people trying to sell you stuff, sign up for stuff, and trying to sell services to you, begging for tips after helping us into jackets was particularly annoying. We paid $36 for family of 5 which included chairs, umbrellas, water trampoline, kayak, snorkeling & life jackets. There are huge houses with beautiful "back yards" facing the ocean with a little stream which was awesome to explore. Like a mini jungle, very cool. Would recommend it, but whatever you do don't book online!! We got them to go as low as $75 for all of us to go snorkeling by boat. Haggle while you're there. But remember to tip well if you get a deal. That will usually get you more deals and some of those people work for small commissions and tips alone.

Be careful though! They WILL keep tour change unless you specifically ask for it. Don't believe the "the other guys are more expensive" because trust me, if they are mote expensive they'll come down to whatever deal you want.
