“Great Value!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2013

I loved our one night stay at this hotel. It was a nice welcome to Mexico after a rough day of travelling- including arriving with no luggage!
We had booked two basic rooms online, but were upgraded to an oceanview room for my inlaws, and we received a room with two rooms seperated by a wall, but not a door. The main room had two full size beds and another full size bed in the other room. We are a family of four(two small children), so this was very comfortable and spacious! We also had a little patio with a table and chairs overlooking the pool area.
This is a simple hotel, but with a lot of nice decorating details that make it unique and interesting.

The hot water worked great, but took awhile to get going. The shower was spacious.

I loved reciving our breakfast of coffee, juice and Mexican sweet bread! It came at the time requested and was the perfect way to start our first morning of vacation. We sat on the balcony in my inlaws room, sipping our coffee and enjoying the view of the ocean, cruiseships and people walking by.

Hotel staff was friendly and accomodating. I do not the other hotel guests(mostly older) appreciated our children, but the room was perfect for a family!

Room Tip: Get the oceanview it is worth it!

Good location on the seafront, quiet, nicely decorated large room with ac, wi-fi, mini fridge and tv (no remote though), friendly staff. Bear in mind that breakfast is frugal: small orange juice, two sweet rolls and coffee or tea.
Overall very good value.

If you're on a budget this place it great! We didn't was anything facy and didn't want to stay in an all-inclusive due to the cost and the fact we wanted to get out of the hotel and eat at local places - Vista Del Mar was exactly what we needed! The service was so friendly and accomodating. At one point in our trip, we were receiving many calls due to an error in our Fishing Trip Reservation and the staff what so helpful in translating and taking messages for us while we were out during the day. We stayed in a room with Queen and a Double on the Second floor (Lobby Floor) just off to the right. Even though it was on the main floor, we didn't have too many issues with noise.

Our room was very spacious and had a big TV. We had good internet access as well. The bathroom was sufficient and they provided a few nice toiletries. There was also a fridge where we could store leftover or even fresh Mexican Bread from the Mega (Which is like their Walmart - it's within Walking distance). There was a nice balcony that over looked the cute little market outside. The market it a nice place to stop and look - but I'd suggest going off the beaten path for cheaper things. There's also a pharmacy if you need a snack or medicine. The bed seemed a little hard, but I've heard that's common in Mexico. The air conditioner worked wonderfully - so well, that there was ICE on the vents! It was noisy when it would finally fall off.

The one issue we had was there was a mysterious leak that flooded part of the main area by the bathroom. They cleaned it up, but it reappeared. One day it stopped - so I guess they fixed it while we were gone.

They serve a nice breakfast of Mexican bread and juice. If you're a big breakfast eater, I would snack on that, then head to Rock N' Java just on the other side of the Cruise Ship Terminal (walking distance).

The location can't be beat. It's in walking distance to sooo many great stores, restuarants and more. It's really a great place for those who prefer to be out and about and want to really explore Cozumel rather than being locked up in a resort all day.

Room Tip: Internet works much better on the 2nd flood (Lobby Floor). We never had connection issues. However...

Well, we reserved over the net and when we got there they gave a us a beautiful big room , sparkling clean on the top floor with a view of the ocean (and cruise ships) but the room had a real bad STENCH! Sewer smell or something .. obviously we complained right away.
We were told it came from the drains (island stuff) and we were quickly switched rooms. Had 2 double beds instead of a king... but without the stench. Fine with us! We are only a couple so a smaller bed is livable! There is an in ground pool kinda out of the hotel in the market area? Strange but felt good after a morning of hustling for the ferry and lugging our stuff.
Staff is friendly, WIFI works most of the time on your balcony. Little fridge in the room too. Bathroom was clean. It was great to sit and watch all the activity going on with our morning coffee (and free breakfast served in your room!)
Right out of the hotel is the main drag...everything you could ever want ...alcohol, food, gifts, scooters for rent, boat tours, diving, snorkling.... we rented a scooter and went around the island....very sweet and WINDY!
It rained the next day and we decided it was too dangerous to rent one... and guess what? We saw a tourist lady wipe out in the street that very morning ! (She's was not injured, bruised ego maybe)

Room Tip: Top rooms seem to be the best for view and quietness.

Very good rooms with great sea view, good location (close to the center, food, parties and everything), nice people.

Breakfast: Bread, butter and jam.

A lot of noise from the street (cars and people), also you can hear talks from other rooms...

Good for a few days in honeymoon :-)

Took a second-floor ocean-view room and were very happy with it. The room itself was attractive, and big, with a blend of rustic and modern touches. Flat-screen tv, extremely powerful mini-split AC, mini fridge, decent toiletries, okay bathroom, colorful textiles and decor. I've read other complaints about the king-size beds being queens turned around. I don't believe that was true of our room, and the taller of us (6'0") was perfectly comfortable. The staff was very nice. We moved hotels after three nights (part of our original plan, no reflection on the VdM), but I left a recharger behind, and they found it and kept it for me until I could retrieve it. (I think I left a pair of shorts, too, but I didn't figure out they were gone 'til it was time to go home.) We loved having the balcony--two comfy adirondack-type chairs and a roomy chair hammock for viewing the goings-on along the street and at the dive pier across the street. Tip: hammock chair is not compatible with any buttons that might be on one's back pockets. I must have ripped off about three. There are some pegs for people who need to dry wetsuits or other things.

If there's any downside at all, it's that it might be a little noisy for a fitful sleeper, and because the lobby is on the second floor, if you're hauling heavy dive bags, you're probably going to be hauling them up at least one flight of stairs.

Amidst all the souvenir stores right downstairs is a nice little tamale stand. We never had the continental breakfast because we had other places we wanted to eat in the mornings.
