We visited Playa Uvas via taxi once we docked for the day. Locals were very kind and I appreciated hearing their stories. Snorkeling was gorgeous, better waters than you would see closer to port. Our guide was fantastic and took so many pictures with our underwater camera. Hammocks and lounge chairs await you after your swim. I highly recommend coming here!

My Husband and I booked the excursion last minute from our Carnival Cruise Ship, due to the fact that our previous excursion was cancelled. We ended up being very happy that our previous excursion was cancelled , because if not we would have missed a great experience. We were greeted by Julio immediately at the end of the pier, and was given a sticker and asked to wait by a store. There were not many others ( maybe 16) in the group which made the experience much better. We were transported in a taxi cab(included in the excursion) to Playas Uvas. The little resort featured a small freshwater pool with hammocks and couches, small stores, a bar, restaurants, and lockers for your belongings. Lockers cost $9.00 with a returnable $5.00 deposit. Sadly, we forgot to return the key so we paid $9.00 for a $4.00 locker rental. So we arrive and Julio introduces us to Peter, and explains that we will be snorkeling first due to another group doing Kayaking. Julio was VERY thorough making sure we understood all the rules, and procedures about snorkeling and Kayaking. We saw a lot of fish, and underwater freshwater caves, even some lobster and stingrays. Julio told us stories about the Mayan Culture, and was very good at knowing where the sealife were located. While we were snorkeling Peter was on a Kayak making sure we were safe from other kayakers and other dangerous sealife. He also was around to help us when our Kayak drifted. Julio had explained earlier that our stickers were good for two beverages each. The first, a bottle of water, that we were given after snorkeling, and the 2nd beverage was for whatever we wanted. After our snorkeling and kayaking, we rinsed off in the pool (outdoor showers weren't working) and relaxed on the beach. Included in our excursion was two huge fruit platters that were delicious, it still left us hungry so we then ordered food from the restaurant. We recommend the ceviche and the shrimp tacos. We then ordered our 2nd beverage....TEQUILA! Our host Julio then asked that if we would like to stay another hour and relax on the beach, then he would provide another taxi to take us back to the ship( also included in the excursion). We thanked him, but declined and left right after we finished out meal to go back to the port and do some shopping. I HIGHLY recommend this place and their excursions.

We went today to Playa Uvas and immediately after our arrival the people wanted us to buy a 12 dollar package with snorkel a drink and a snack. We declined it as we just wanted to swim a little bit. We ordered a small Ceviche and fish tacos they were just ok. This is the place where the clear kayak takes place and it was noticed that the kayaks are in deplorable condition, the place looks very dirty "there was no tour happening", the employees were banging the little storage room while cleaning the inside and laughing loud.

When we ordered the bill there was a charge for 46 dollars when we only ordered lunch worth 25 dollars. We were charged extra a 20 dollars for the entrance fee for this place. We wanted to pay with C/C and immediately they said that they will charge more if we do it that way. (Obviously the impression is that they wanted to have the cash for other purposes. I work for a cruise line and I will make sure not to recommend the tour or the beach as is just not worth it.

My fiancée and I dropped in here while on a cruise with Royal Caribbean. This was one of the best experience we had in our entire cruise. The staff was friendly & accommodating! The food & speciality "Bob Marley" drink was amazing. Snorkeling was great especially for a first timer. The guide was very patient with teaching us how snorkel. I would certainly visit this hideaway if ever I go back to Cozumel and I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a day trip in Cozumel.

My husband and I rented a motor scooter and drove around the island... loved it! We stopped at Uvas for some lunch, drinks, and snorkeling. The people were very nice. The food was good. We were going to stop at chankanaab, but it was soooo expensive for what we wanted to do. Uvas was a fraction of the cost and was perfect! With your entrance fee comes snorkeling equipment, and it was great. I recommend.

Hi Swb,

Thank you for writing us, some people named before one of the best drinks we got " Bob marley" and it is, you should try our molcajetes, this is a great combination of chicken, onions, nopales, guacamole, chips, beef... etc. And our snorkel is just great, for begginers or pros.
We hope to see you again soon.
